Lilith smiled sweetly as she picked up a plump grape and fed it into Zede's mouth."Ah~ open up," she teased.
Zede lay back lazily on the bed, one arm wrapped around Lilith's slender waist, watching TV while basking in her affection.
Even after centuries of existence, Lilith still carried the air of a girl who lacked direction—someone who needed a spiritual anchor to cling to. In the past, that anchor had been her adoptive father's curse and her hatred for Dracula. Now, it was Zede.
That feeling of being needed by Lilith gave Zede immense satisfaction, and naturally, he had no intention of rejecting her devotion.
While the two of them were wrapped in tender affection, Skye stood by the window, peering out as if searching for something.
"Zede, when exactly is that rainbow bridge supposed to appear? Are you sure it's today?" Skye leaned halfway out of the window, scanning the distance.
Still idly toying with a strand of Lilith's hair, Zede glanced over. "You won't see the Bifrost from here—it lands more than fifty kilometers away."
"So we won't see it at all?" Skye sounded disappointed.
After studying under both Dan Kuroto and Ryoma Sengoku, Skye's technological expertise had long surpassed the boundaries of simple computer science. Her knowledge was now expanding into much broader fields, and a superweapon like the Rainbow Bridge—a perfect fusion of magic and technology that could annihilate planets and transport beings across galaxies—was exactly the kind of thing that fascinated her.
Zede almost wanted to brag about his own Time Gate, but the thought of how he still hadn't managed to master it made him a little embarrassed.
A knock at the door interrupted his thoughts.
Zede tugged the blanket up over Lilith to hide any signs of their earlier intimacy before calling out,"Come in."
Woz stepped through the door and bowed. "My lord Demon King, S.H.I.E.L.D. has finished evacuating the townspeople. Also, the four strangely dressed Asgardians you mentioned have arrived."
"Oh? They're here already?" Zede's eyes gleamed with amusement. "Woz, go keep an eye on them. We'll be right there."
After Woz left, Zede stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Skye, looks like we missed the first ride—but at least we can still catch a front-row seat for Thor's trip home."
Skye's eyes lit up. She threw on a jacket and urged excitedly, "Then what are you waiting for? Get up! Lilith, help me drag him out of bed!"
Before long, Zede was forcibly pulled from his warm cocoon by the two women. After a quick cleanup, they headed straight for Erik's temporary residence.
Inside, Thor sat slumped in a chair, his brows furrowed, still reeling from what Sif had told him—that his father was alive after all. The revelation, combined with Loki's deception, left him emotionally shattered.
"Loki… lied to me?" Thor murmured to himself. "For the throne? All this… just for the throne?"
To Thor, the crown had never meant much. He couldn't comprehend his brother's obsession with power—and the betrayal filled him with burning anger.
That was when Zede and his group entered the house.
Sif eyed the man walking in front. "Are you also one of Thor's human friends?"
"That's right," Zede said casually, pulling out a chair and sitting down across from Thor. "What's wrong? You look like your frown could crush a mosquito. No—make that several."
Thor didn't even lift his head. "My brother deceived me."
"Oh, that? Yeah, I already knew." Zede took the soda Lilith handed him, sipped, and exhaled with a satisfied sigh. "Ahh, refreshing."
Thor finally looked up, eyes full of disbelief. "You… knew? Already? Why?"
Zede raised an eyebrow, feigning confusion. "Why what? I'm an outsider—how could I interfere in your family drama? I'm not Asgardian."
He shrugged. "Loki just asked me to find you a quiet place to retire. It's not like he asked me to kill you. Understand?"
Thor froze. When put like that… it actually made sense. If Sif and the others hadn't come for him, everything might have gone exactly as Loki planned.
Perfect. Zede's mind flashed with amusement. This might just work.
If this had been the old, hot-headed Thor, he'd have probably started swinging already. But now, Thor had clearly matured.
Still, not everyone shared his composure. Volstagg raised his weapon and growled, "Thor, don't listen to his lies! He's obviously in league with Loki! Let me pound some sense into him!"
Thor tried to stop him, but without his divine power, he couldn't react in time. "No, Volstagg, wait—!"
"Too late!" Volstagg roared, swinging his massive axe down toward Zede's head.
"Connect," Zede murmured calmly, raising his left hand. The ring on his middle finger flared with brilliant light.
Clang!
The sound of metal striking magic rang through the air. Volstagg froze as glowing runes swallowed his hands, then slowly turned—only to see Sif's sword sheath blocking the back of his axe.
Holding her sword in reverse grip, Sif's expression was complicated as she looked at Zede. She hadn't expected this "mortal" to know magic.
Volstagg exhaled sharply, then tried to lunge again, but Hogun and Fandral grabbed him before he could cause more chaos.
"Let me go! Let me go! Using such vile magic—how can you say he's not with Loki?!" Volstagg shouted furiously.
Sif joined in restraining him, while Zede, the supposed target of all this chaos, remained unfazed—quietly sipping his soda.
"Enough!!!"
Thor's shout silenced the room. "Stand down, Volstagg! I know what I'm doing!"
His anger wasn't just for Volstagg's recklessness—but for seeing his old self reflected in that same impulsiveness. Thor finally understood how foolish he'd once been, how much grief he'd caused his father.
With a sigh, Thor turned to Zede and bowed slightly. "My apologies. I'm sorry for my companion's rashness. Please, forgive him."
Sif and the Warriors Three stared in shock. The Thor they knew—the bold, carefree god of thunder—had never apologized to anyone. This wasn't like him at all.
"Thor, what's wrong with you? Did you hit your head, or did that sorcerer cast a spell on you?" Volstagg barked, still tugging at his beard.
Thor ignored him and formally introduced, "This is my friend from Midgard—Kamen Rider Ohma Zi-O, Zede Oleg. I trust he's not allied with Loki. Everyone, sit down and calm yourselves…"
Boom!
A massive explosion echoed in the distance, cutting Thor short.
"What was that?"
Everyone except Zede and Lilith rushed outside, peering toward the horizon.
At that moment, May burst into the room, panting as she handed Zede a phone. "Coulson! It's for you!"
Zede took the call. Coulson's anxious voice came through immediately:"Mr. Zede! The alien weapon has arrived! Please—we need your help!"
"The egghead hasn't asked me yet. I'm not going." Zede hung up without hesitation.
"You—!" May's eyes blazed with fury, her fists clenching tight.
Zede simply pulled Lilith onto his lap, inhaling the faint scent of her hair before replying lazily, "What, you? The townsfolk are already evacuated. The ones still here have accepted the risk of dying. If you're so worried about Coulson, call Nick Fury yourself."
Before May could speak, Daisy jumped in, exclaiming, "But we haven't accepted that risk yet!"
Instantly, everyone's eyes turned toward Daisy, Jane, and Erik—the only normal humans in the room.
"Zede," Thor said urgently, gripping Jane's hand, "what's going on? Will Jane be in danger?"
Sif's heart ached at the sight of Thor's tenderness toward Jane. I was the first to stand beside him… yet now he only looks at her.
Zede, face buried against Lilith's chest, answered carelessly, "Nothing major. Just your Asgardian Destroyer arriving, that's all."
His words were casual—but to the five Asgardians, it was a thunderclap.
"What?! The Destroyer? Has Loki gone mad?"
"We must stop it! It's here to kill Thor!"
"I think Loki plans to wipe us all out!"
Sif strode toward the door. "Thor, you've lost your power. Stay here and protect yourself."
The three Warriors exchanged glances, then followed after her. Thor reached out helplessly, but there was nothing he could do. He had never felt so powerless.
"Zede!" he turned, desperation in his voice. "You're the Demon King of Midgard—surely you can stop the Destroyer? At least… help my friends?"
Zede only shot a glance at May—a silent answer.
May glared back at him bitterly before stepping aside to call Nick Fury.
As a disciple of Peggy Carter herself and one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s founding agents, Melinda May was the epitome of professionalism.
But there were two things that could still shake her composure—two things that could strip away her calm judgment as an agent:the Ghost Rider incident, and love.
Whenever it involved her ex-husband Andrew Garner, or Coulson… May could never keep her emotions in check.
Holding Lilith close, Zede muttered quietly, almost to himself:
"Love is the most unreliable thing in existence. The funniest part is watching people lose their minds for it—marrying, divorcing, marrying again, divorcing again… an endless cycle of misery."
