Chapter 8 - I experience social hell and get a one way ticket to a photography club

It had been about 6 days since Yamada's visit. I was in my homeroom trying to get my homework for the day done. Right now I was really struggling with my algebra, when it came to it math was my least favorite subject, I had slacked off in paying attention and now I was suffering from it, I stared at the page in front of me I was stuck on the 4th problem not even sure what to do here.

4|X-4| = 8

I absolutely hated math, despised it, this singular problem was making me have a brain aneurism.

"You have to distribute the 4."

I turned to the noise of the voice. It was Yamada who had scooted her desk next to mine, and was staring at my homework tentatively, resting her cheek on her open palm.

"Oh- thank you."

"You're welcome, Sato."

Yamada, despite me trying to convince her not to, forced me to allow her to assist me in my home work, because she saw how much I had been struggling with it, me and yamada usually would talk after school via text, She was quite an interesting person to say the least, as soon as she would get off of work she would always complain how boring it was but that the pay made it worth it, I didn't have work so I couldn't really relate but i did do my mothers errands since she was usually busy with work.

I kept working, I needed to get this done and fast, because the last thing I wanted to do was to finish this at home and have to explain to Yammy about why I took so long to get on, as of late me and him weren't talking or playing that often together, but that was fine, we were both busy with school and trying to maintain our friendships.

*****

I had just finished putting my stuff away in my locker, Yamada was leaning against the window to the opposite side of where the lockers were, currently it was raining and I planned to wait out the storm before heading home, just my luck honestly, Yamada seemed to have the same idea as she didn't have work today so she didn't need to get herself soaked just so she would be able to get ready for work, thank god.

I noticed yamada was staring at me, holding her arm looking like she was holding back something she wanted to say to me, but wouldn't for some reason.

"What is it, you're staring at me."

"Are you free this weekend?"

I closed my locker, and turned to face her.

"Uh yeah, I am most of the time, why?"

"I was thinking about joining the Photography club."

"How does that have anything to do with my weekends?"

Yamada twiddled her thumbs, and she pursed her lips before speaking again.

"I was wondering if you would join the club with me also, I think it would be nice if you were also in the same club as me."

A club? Not once had I thought about joining one, mainly because I myself wasn't a fan of spending time I could use on the weekends to relax and instead spending that time working on my club, but if me and yamada were in a club that would change things, because then I wouldn't feel like I'm wasting my time If I worked with her I suppose.

"Give me some time to think about it, I'm not sure."

"Do you have anything else going on in your life right now?"

"No, but I value my free time."

Yamada stopped leaning up against the wall and walked towards me, before getting right up next to my face, before she moved her mouth right next to my ear and whispered into it.

"Yamada-"

"If you do, I'll treat you."

This was bad, she was way too close to me for comfort, I was gonna die of embarrassment. Everyone in the hall stopped what they were doing and were looking at us, talking about what they were seeing amongst themselves, good god what has she done.

"Who is that girl?"

"Did she just kiss him on the cheek?"

"Aww, that's so sweet."

Yamada immediately began walking away realising what that exchange of words had looked like, her face was beet red, She hadn't intended to make it look like she kissed me but everyone else thought otherwise, I quickly followed behind her, the rain had stopped and we needed to escape this social hell, as we both exited the gates we said our goodbyes and we went home for the weekend.

*****

I was walking to the grocery store, My mom needed me to pick up some groceries because we were running out, whilst on my walk there I had enough time to think about the photography club, Yamada had been my first friend In high school, and I had been her first friend too, and she wanted me to join some club that I would spend some time working on, honestly I don't know why I had to think about it, me not joining would be a selfish decision, and so I pulled my phone out of my pocket and sent her a text.

Sato Masaichi : [I wanna join the club with you.]
