The elevator chimed open with a hollow echo, spilling Sebastian into the hushed corridors of Maison de la Croix. The building had emptied long ago; the polished marble reflected his steps like the march of someone too important to leave on time. His suit was immaculate, his stride composed anyone watching would think he hadn't spent the earlier hours enduring Celeste's shrill dramatics.

If anything, he felt lighter without her. The migraine she left trailing behind was worth the quiet she granted in her absence.

He prayed she stayed gone longer this time. A few days without that parasite clinging to his side sounded almost luxurious.

For now, all he wanted was silence. Rest. Tomorrow he'd sweat it out in the ring, let his fists burn the excess fury from his system.

Halfway across the lobby, his phone buzzed. He didn't break stride as he answered.

"Father."
