Anna chuckled softly, her lips curling into a faint smile as she looked straight at Mrs. Luke. "Mrs. Luke, there's something you might not know. To have someone jailed for plagiarism, the original author must press charges. If you want to put me behind bars, you'll first have to find the original owner of this manuscript."
Ruby froze, realizing the truth in Anna's words.
Even with all their so-called evidence, it was useless unless the real author, or someone with their permission, stepped forward.
"Mrs. Luke… she's telling the truth," Ruby admitted reluctantly.
Mrs. Luke's fury deepened. Her eyes turned dark, her fists tightening at her sides.
So, this was why Anna was so confident, she was hiding behind a loophole. Gritting her teeth, she spat, "Do you think I can't find the original author of this manuscript?"
Anna only shrugged, her tone light and indifferent. "You can always try."
For a brief moment, Anna had considered revealing her identity.
