Just as Nevaeh was hesitating, Nancy grabbed her hand and tugged her forward. "Nevaeh, it's not often we get to have fun. If you don't go, then I won't go either!"
Frances chimed in eagerly, "Yeah, come on! Girls deserve their own space and happiness too."
Nevaeh finally stopped hesitating.
Life with Cassius had been suffocating lately, and since it was a rare chance to relax, she nodded. "Alright, let's go together."
The three girls walked off happily, chatting and laughing as they went to grab a bite.
But not far away, Elizabeth's eyes darkened, sharp and venomous like a blade. She wished she could leap out and tear Nevaeh apart.
That cunning woman had stolen Cassius from her, taken away her competition slot, and now she had become the joke everyone whispered about.
It was all her fault.
If Nevaeh hadn't insisted on competing, Elizabeth wouldn't have fallen this far. With her skills, she would've easily taken one of the top spots.
