Nevaeh firmly refused. "No way. I can't accept this. It's too valuable."
Frances waved her hand like it was nothing. "It's fine. We're going to be family anyway. You have to take it. If you don't, I'll just keep sending you gifts until you do."
Nancy caught the key detail and asked, curious, "What family? I didn't know Nevaeh had any relatives."
Nevaeh was an orphan, and Nancy knew that, so she never brought it up to avoid hurting her.
At Nancy's question, Frances blushed and laughed. "Haven't you always wondered who I like? Well, I'll tell you now. I like Samuel. Nevaeh is his cousin, so that makes her my relative!"
Nancy's eyes widened. "You like Professor Samuel!"
Frances admitted it openly. "Yep. He's handsome and talented. Even my dad says he was better than most at that age. He's about to graduate, so I can finally go after him properly."
