"Good morning mommy!" Gu Miao launched at a sleeping Aang Jiang.
She slept in the hall. When she woke up, at first everything seemed blurry but warm. The events of yesterday slowly unfolded in her mind. She found her mommy, and she was under the same roof as her. In her excitement, she forgot Aang Jiang's condition and ran to wake her up.
Aang Jiang following her instincts held Gu Miao by her neck before she landed on her. When everything seemed clear, she immediately let go off Gu Miao. "Why would you sneak on me in my room. Didn't I warn you not to come in here?" Aang Jiang sighed.
"Cough..., cough, I am... sorry" "It is fine. Are you alright?" Gu Miao nodded. "Good. Now, why did you call me mommy?" Aang Jiang asked with arms crossed.
Gu Miao tensed. She mustn't let mommy find out now. It is too much of information for her frail mommy. "Hehe... umm, are you sure you heard mommy? I said auntie" Gu Miao stammered.
Aang Jiang frowned in suspicion. The monster was clearly hiding something. Why did she even care? Aang Jiang cleared her head of suspicion before turning to the clock beside her to check the time. It was 6:30 am. Ugh, she was still enjoying her sleep.
She turned to the cause of her problem who was lying on her lap seemingly lost in thought.
Gu Miao was disappointed. Why didn't mommy ask more questions? Didn't she have the urge to know more about her? She knew her mommy had forgotten about them, but it still ached to not be known less much hated by mommy.
A finger flicked her forehead. "What are you thinking about? You remember yesterday was your last night staying here, right? Don't even think of planning to stay longer?" Aang Jiang cut through her thoughts.
Gu Miao stood up from Aang Jiang's bed and slowly walked to the door, head drooping low. "You don't have to remember me. Just... don't push me away." Gu Miao murmured before she disappeared behind the door.
Aang Jiang's advanced hearing made her hear the words. 'What was that all about' Aang Jiang thought as she got up to the bathroom. She still had an hour till working hours.
The ride from where she stayed to work was a thirty minutes' drive. Aang Jiang took her time in the bathroom. Unknowingly her mind was driven back to what Gu Miao said before she left her room. Something in her tone made her heart ache. Was that normal?
Knock! Knock!
"Auntie please I have nothing to clean myself with. I also have nothing to change into." Gu Miao's voice came after the knock.
Aang Jiang had to hurry to dress up and buy a brush, sponge and towel for Gu Miao. When Gu Miao came out of Aang Jiang's bathroom, she found Aang Jiang all dressed up and ready for work.
"Auntie, thank you for allowing me to use your bathroom. But where are you going all dressed like that?" Gu Miao asked confused.
" I am going to work." Aang Jiang replied.
"Work? But it is the weekend!" Aang Jiang blinked, then hurriedly took her phone to check. It really was the weekend.
Gu Miao looked at her mommy in surprise. Was her mommy always that busy to even realize weekends from weekdays? No wonder! It is not that she didn't want to remember them, but she didn't have the time to remember them. Gu Miao nodded her head in understanding. Her daddy was also like that.
"Auntie, since it is the weekend, let's go shopping." Gu Miao said to ease Aang Jiang's embarrassment. "Why would I go shopping with you? You are leaving today, remember?" Aang Jiang asked.
"I can't go home looking like this?" Gu Miao said as she turned around for Aang Jiang to see her messy dress. Aang Jiang sighed. She gave in to Gu Miao once again.
The moment they arrived at the mall; a piece of paper appeared in front of Aang Jiang. "I prepared the list like I said. So, we are going to need..." Gu Miao continued to speak as she led the way.
*Fifteen minutes after their arrival*
Vroom! A car parked at the entrance of the mall.
"Youngest master, we've arrived". A young boy dressed in black suit looked out the window then down at a digital watch he was wearing. It showed the appearance of a red dot as if showing the location of someone.
In silence, he got down from the car and walked into the building with poise and elegance. He walked around for a while but still couldn't find the person he was looking for.
Meanwhile, Aang Jiang and Gu Miao got a new dress for Gu Miao to wear and bought many foodstuffs, packages, tools and equipment which were to be delivered to Aang Jiang's house by the mall.
They entered the elevator to go to the down floor since they were at the top. In between their descent, the elevator stopped, and the door opened as it revealed a face.
Gu Miao looked at the newcomer in surprise. How did he find her? The little boy, about the same age as Gu Miao entered the elevator and looked at Gu Miao with a stern expression as the door closed behind him. Gu Miao's surprise turned to fear as she looked at the boy in suit.
"Bro... brother. How did you find me?" Gu Miao stammered. "Why? Where you hoping not to see me again?" the little boy asked flatly.
"NO... That's not it. I ... was eventually going to come home." Gu Miao said guiltily.
"Ah. So, you are the brother of Gu Miao. This is perfect. Take your sister and warn her not to bother me again." Aang Jiang said after figuring out what was going on.
The little boy turned to look at the person who spoke. He froze the moment he set his eyes on her. Was he seeing things? The person standing there, the reason his sister didn't want to return home. The shock in the boy's eyes was soon replaced with surprise then longing. He had always dreamt of finding his mommy but not like this!
And his sister found her first.
Aang Jiang found the boy's stare to be intense and a little creepy. That was the same look Gu Miao gave her the first time they met. Were all kids this creepy?
