Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Tsunade's Request

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

On Training Ground 13, two figures clashed continuously, their short sword and kunai ringing with the sound of metal on metal.

In a nearby tree, Hiruko was leisurely reading a book.

After a few minutes of fighting, An Yan was finally defeated. He looked at the kunai in his hand, which was almost cut in half, and smiled wryly.

It's better to master one trick than to know a thousand. An Yan knew many things and had many ways to fight, but he still couldn't beat Sakumo, who specialized in swordsmanship. Although he hadn't used many of his techniques, Sakumo hadn't been serious either. In a real fight, the outcome would be uncertain.

"Brother Sakumo, your swordsmanship is too fast. I could barely react."

An Yan wiped the sweat from his forehead and praised Sakumo sincerely. He had actually cheated, but he still couldn't keep up.

The skill was Focus, from the wish pool. Its effect was to enter a state of slow motion for an instant, similar to bullet time.

However, the Focus skill only allowed An Yan to react to the blade and barely dodge. He couldn't counterattack like in the Jackie Chan simulator. He had no time to counter; Sakumo's attacks were relentless.

Sakumo was also breathing heavily. He wiped the sweat from his temple and smiled. "An Yan, you're already very good. Your reaction speed is incredible. You know, among the people my age I've fought, not many can react to my attacks."

Sakumo wasn't being modest. His swordsmanship was all about one thing: speed.

As they say, nothing is indestructible; only speed is unbreakable.

When the speed of the blade reaches its peak, any opponent slower than you is killed instantly.

It had been a long time since Sakumo had met someone his age who could match him.

An Yan just smiled wryly at the praise. The Focus skill couldn't be used continuously. If Sakumo got close, he would be defeated in at most five minutes. That was nothing to be proud of.

Speaking of which, Shisui of the Body Flicker, Minato Namikaze, and Sakumo Hatake were all speed-type ninja. He wondered who was the fastest among them.

If he could change their fate, he would definitely organize a race between the three of them.

When An Yan and Sakumo finished their fight, Tsunade, who had appeared at some point, ran over to An Yan and thoughtfully wiped his sweat with a towel.

An Yan was taken aback. Tsunade wasn't usually this gentle.

When a weasel pays respects to a chicken, it has bad intentions.

An Yan's guard went up immediately.

"Tsunade, what's up? Why did you suddenly come looking for me?"

Tsunade looked at An Yan, then at Sakumo, who was pretending to be casually playing with his short sword but had his ears perked up. She grabbed An Yan and pulled him behind a large tree.

As he was being dragged away, An Yan shouted, "Excuse me for a moment, Brother Sakumo! Tsunade needs me for something. You can practice with Hiruko for now."

Hiruko looked up from his book and at An Yan's retreating back, completely puzzled. What am I supposed to fight him with? My Rasengan? I'd be diced into mincemeat.

Tsunade pulled An Yan behind a large tree, clasped her hands together, and said with a sincere expression:

"An Yan, you have to help me."

An Yan was confused. "What is it? You have to tell me. How do I know if I can help if you don't say anything?"

Tsunade cleared her throat, looked around, and then began to explain.

"On my ninja team, there's this little pervert named Jiraiya. Orochimaru told me he's always peeking at women bathing. He's not a decent person. But he keeps pestering me to go on a date with him, and it's so annoying. I was thinking, maybe you could be my knight in shining armor, beat him up once, and warn him not to have any ideas about me."

Jiraiya the Gallant?

Hearing the name, An Yan fell silent. He was a very charming character, with the unfortunate flaw of being a peeping tom, which was a disgusting trait. An Yan had once disliked him for it, but it was to be expected. Writers from the Land of the Rising Sun loved that kind of thing; it was relatable to them. Characters like Master Roshi from Dragon Ball and Miyamoto Musashi from Yaiba were similar.

Seeing An Yan's silence, Tsunade grabbed his arm and started shaking it back and forth.

"Please, big bro?"

An Yan laughed and stopped her. "Alright, alright, I'll help you. I was just thinking about what identity I should use to intervene. And, Tsunade, have you been reading some strange books lately? Where did you learn to act so cute?"

"Yay! An Yan is the best!"

Hearing that An Yan would help, Tsunade jumped in the air, clearly happy. It seemed Jiraiya had really gotten on her nerves.

"Of course I'm the best. But Tsunade, you still haven't told me if you've been reading strange books."

An Yan patted Tsunade's head. Her blonde hair felt so soft.

"Hehe, I just relax a little when I'm tired of studying. Don't worry, An Yan, I know my limits."

Tsunade laughed awkwardly, lowered her head, and looked around with a pitiful expression.

An Yan sighed. With her parents still alive and Tobirama to protect her, Tsunade was living a much happier life. Consequently, she had less motivation to become stronger.

"Tsunade, the world we live in is very dangerous. If you don't work hard to improve yourself, everything you have now could be easily taken away. In another ten years or so, when the five great ninja villages have recovered, there might be another war. If you don't work hard now, do you want me to visit you at the Memorial Stone in the future?"

Tsunade pouted. "Alright, alright, I know, An Yan. I'll work hard. You have to believe me."

An Yan ruffled her hair and said gently, "Hiruko has been studying very hard, you know. You know the story of the tortoise and the hare. If you're not as accomplished as him in the future, he will mercilessly laugh at you."

The mention of Hiruko seemed to instantly motivate Tsunade. People generally don't like to be surpassed by someone they've always considered their inferior. It's human nature.

That's the right button to push, An Yan thought with a secret smile.

"Don't worry, An Yan! I will never, ever let that guy Hiruko surpass me!"

A fire lit up in Tsunade's eyes. She was full of fighting spirit.

"By the way, Tsunade, how do you want me to deal with this pervert? And in what capacity should I appear? After all, I need a good reason."

An Yan brought the topic back.

Tsunade fell into thought. That was a good point. What role should An Yan play?

Childhood friend? Suitor? Or... boyfriend?
