Chapter 7 - Ch 7: Wrong Order? - Part 3

The burner phone Lynn used suddenly cut off. The sound of "beep beep" rang loud and clear in his ear.

"Oh wow—! Is the world playing some kind of prank on me these days? First, that Omega patient successfully runs away from me and now this? Is my old age catching up to me or something?"

Lynn complained as he stood up while still looking at his phone.

He considered filing a complaint to the restaurant online and leaving a bad review about it, but in the end he stopped himself.

Emma, the owner of the PC café, and her husband Ben had been very helpful to him over the years. They were not quite family to him, but he did consider them close.

Perhaps that was why he decided not to immediately take action and instead check out what happened. After all, guessing could only take him so far.

First, he decided to check at the reception to see if what the delivery guy said was true. After all, he had not even gotten a call from them.

The Guild reception hall was just as grand and luxurious as ever, and the receptionist looked busy while applying her makeup.

Lynn kept his pheromones in check while he crept up on her, and only once he was close enough did he cough to announce his presence.

"Ah… who… Oh—sir, welcome down. How can I help you?"

The receptionist looked startled at first, but she changed her tone once she noticed him.

"Did someone come here to deliver my pizza? I was expecting them to come but they told me that they had to go back from the reception."

Lynn asked, and the lady at the front desk looked startled. She immediately looked around before looking back at him.

"O-Oh, that order. T-They did come, but the t-thing is… I tried to reach you but then they said they were getting late and had to leave… I can try and find them if you need me to…"

The receptionist tried to score some points with Lynn, but he could hear her heartbeat, which conveyed to him that the receptionist had lied.

'I see. So it was the fault of the Guild… I guess I should go and apologize, then pick up my pizza.'

Lynn gave the receptionist a light glare, but she looked terrified even at the gentle look, which made him soften his expression.

At fault or not, the person in front of him was an unawakened Omega, and Lynn felt that it was his duty to be compassionate to them.

"I—I made a mistake. Please, forgive me. I will make sure to report back to you everything from now on."

The female looked down, tears filling her eyes, and Lynn quickly plastered his celebrity smile on his face.

"Don't worry about it so much, miss. I understand that you did not mean anything by this and you just wanted to help me. But next time, I would prefer it if you were to inform me about my delivery."

Lynn laced his voice with his power and the female receptionist's eyes went hazy and unfocused.

"I understand."

Her voice even sounded almost dreamy, and Lynn quickly walked away.

He did not feel bad about using his powers on the general public, but he also could not afford to be found out at the moment.

Once outside, he quickly pulled his hood over his face and walked straight forward and across the road.

And then, he opened the door to the PC café.

______

It was quite dark outside, so I was startled when the door to the PC café opened. I quickly looked at the door to check who had decided to pay us a visit at this hour.

The first thing that came to notice was that the intruder had covered their face. But from the way they had entered from the front door and how relaxed they looked, I could immediately rule them out as an intruder.

I almost got out from behind the counter to confront the person before the scent of an Alpha stopped me in my tracks.

And not only that, but a very familiar Alpha scent that I had encountered before for sure.

'This rotten luck… isn't this the same Alpha who tried to stop me from leaving the hospital. So I was right. He is a hunter… and one good enough to be a top Hunter at that… I should be careful with how I handle him. Or better yet, not show myself at all…'

I decided to keep myself hidden for now and let Ben deal with the Hunter…

Or, that was my plan until the Hunter saw me trying to get away from him.

With a smile on his face, he quickly walked toward me and placed a hand on my shoulder before I could escape.

"Hello. Are you the one who came to deliver my pizza to me? I'm sorry for the treatment my receptionist gave you. What can I do to make it up to you?"

The Alpha asked in his calm voice, but all I felt was an impending feeling of doom loom over me. Somehow, I knew that I should not speak.

"Hey, are you pretending to ignore me? I would have you know that such cute ways to gain my attention are working. You are making me more and more curious about yourself. Can you turn around and face me?"

Could I do that? Definitely.

But did I want to do that was a different question altogether.

Just as I was getting desperate, Emma decided to look my way and I sent her a desperate look for help.

But all my hopes and dreams were dashed when Emma just looked my way and gave me a thumbs up before she turned around and went back to her work.

'Shit Emma, WTF? Are you betraying me? And for what? Please don't do this to me.'

I wanted to grab Emma, but it was too late already. The danger was looming behind me, and he was getting impatient as well.
