'What should I do? This is bad—! Should I turn around? Or run? I doubt I have been recognized yet... but that does not mean I won't be recognized in the future… Wait, maybe it will be alright….'
After all, if I had not been recognized yet, then that meant that there was a chance I won't be recognized in the future as well... mainly because this Alpha had forgotten about me.
'Yeah—! That must be it. There is no way a top alpha dog has any time to think about some runaway hospital patient like me. I am sure it will be fine.'
Maybe it was delusions in my mind, but I made sure to push them down for now and instead focus on getting through the situation.
"Sir, how may I help you out today—?"
I turned around with a smile on my face, but felt my smile falter when I looked the Alpha in the eyes.
'Shit! Mission abort! This is too dangerous! I can't do this!'
I might have zero interest or experience in romance, but I was well versed in reading Alpha body language.
And right now, all I could sense was danger coming off the Alpha… and not the kind I was used to.
"Hmm, I thought you hid your face because it was ugly or something. But now that I look at you, you're quite cute. You also seem to have a nice and strong body, despite being an Omega… hmm, you are quite my type. How about I take you out and we forget about what happened?"
Lynn flashed me a teasing smile which would have definitely made a lot of Omegas swoon. But unfortunately, all it made me feel was a sense of uncomfortableness as well as repulsion.
It was more so at the fact that Lynn's Alpha pheromones were trying to overpower me and make me unable to think.
'What an underhanded tactic. Does this Alpha think he can flash me with his pheromones and I will bow to him. Tsk, this younger generation is too bold and rude. Back in my day, I would have murdered this Alpha for daring to even talk to me. Maybe I should still do that…'
The urge to protect myself made me tense up, and Lynn noticed.
Surprise flashed in Lynn's eyes when he looked at my guarded eyes. After all, this was likely the first time he had been rejected like this.
'Tsk, this is why Alphas like him are dangerous. They might look all sweet like this on the outside, but on the inside, they're all wolves who want to pounce on any Omega they can find.'
I might have taken the Alpha more seriously had he not added the line about me being his type. After all, even I knew I was not good "Omega" material that Alphas liked.
All I had going for me was my face and strong pheromones. But spend a little time with me and even the most interested Alphas were sure to lose interest.
"I am afraid that is not an option. Since you are here for your pizzas, you can pick them up from the counter and take them. Make sure to reheat them before you eat them. Now, I should get back to work—"
I turned my back to head out when the Alpha walked in front of me once more.
"Hey, don't be like that. Did I do something wrong? Are you running away from me again?"
The again made me pause and look at the Alpha in front of me with guarded eyes.
Suddenly, I had a bad feeling about what was going on and my experience yelled at me to run away before it was too late.
But where could I even run away to? This PC café was my home now and the S-class Hunter lived in the building directly in front of me.
Even if I did manage to get away this time, I had a feeling it would only fuel the Alpha's desire to hunt me more.
'At this point, it would be better for me to deny anything that is said and get through this somehow.'
I sighed before looking the Alpha in the eye.
"I genuinely believe you have the wrong person this time. I have never met you before, and I doubt an ordinary person such as me would ever meet you again. As for your offer to a date… I don't think I am the right Omega for you. Now, if you'll excuse me—"
The Alpha did not move away from my way even when I rudely tried to push past him. Instead, Lynn looked even more amused to see me struggle.
His eyes told me that he was about to say something that would cause me trouble.
"So… you mean to say that you were not that Omega who decided to run away from the state hospital in nothing but his hospital gown? Do you know I had to pick up the hospital bill tab because of you? Are you not going to repay me? Maybe I should press charges against you?"
The Alpha had an almost sing-song voice when he spoke. Listening to his voice made me shiver, but I could not tell if it was in anticipation or fear… or a mixture of both.
But one thing I did know was that this Alpha was not going to back down until he got what he needed.
And right now, that 'something' was a date with me.
'Ugh, what have I gotten myself into.'
I could have easily gotten out of this situation if I had my former identity. After all, who would be willing to mess with the top hunter, even if they were an Omega? Those who tried got taken out by me quickly.
But my current identity was not that of the top-tier hunter, but that of a civilian… and that meant putting up with this harassment.
"I am sorry, but I don't date customers and certainly not when I am working. Please take your pizzas and head back for now. As for the hospital thing… I have no idea what you are talking about."
My flimsy lie was easy to catch, but I doubted the Alpha in front of me would bother or care. All he likely wanted was an easy Omega to stare at.
But it was because of this that I did not want to give in to him.
'If you want a play thing, then look somewhere else. You won't be able to mess with me so easily.'
