CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO: UNDENIABLE FEELINGS

I couldn't stop staring at her.

The words she had spoken in the last hour still circled in my mind like vultures over a battlefield. Her stepmother. Her stepsister. Her own husband. Betrayal wrapped in betrayal, cruelty so calculated that even he, hardened as he was by business wars, could hardly comprehend it.

I reached for her hand slowly, like if i moved too fast, she might break again.

"You lived through all of that,"I said quietly, the edge in my voice betraying my fury. "And you still stand here… raising our daughters, building your own world. Do you have any idea how much strength that takes, Rina?"

Her lashes trembled, but she didn't cry. "Strength or stubbornness, I'm not sure anymore. All I knew was I couldn't collapse not with them inside me."

I tightened my grip. "They took everything from you. Your name, your inheritance, your marriage, your innocence,and they thought they had destroyed you. But look at you now."
