Chapter 44 - Chapter 44 Summoning Elemental Creatures

Just as the base construction was in full swing, Carlos brought a message: the Trolls had discovered an anomaly in the forest and dispatched a large number of scouts.

Gale had anticipated this. Currently, the forest was still Troll territory, and even the slightest disturbance would alert the Trolls.

The arrival of scouts meant the base was about to be exposed, and construction had to be accelerated.

"Try to kill the Troll scouts and delay them from discovering the base," Gale told Carlos. "I need three days to build walls for the base."

Carlos nodded solemnly. "I will hold off the Trolls."

That night, Carlos set out with the Alpha Squad to intercept the Troll scouts.

Gale also gathered all the Kaldorei in the base and announced the plan to build walls within three days.

Everyone was astonished. The base covered tens of thousands of square yards, and due to its irregular shape, the walls would need to be over two thousand yards long. Wooden walls might be possible, but Gale demanded stone walls.

This was clearly impossible!

Gale did not explain much but simply said, "You only need to know about this and follow orders. Within three days, we will definitely be able to complete the stone walls."

"Navoli, there's a stone mountain downstream of the river. Take your people to cut down trees and make large wooden planks to transport the stones."

"Draksa, take your people to design the wall's location around the base, reserving space for the main gate and the dock."

Both received their orders and took their people to complete the tasks.

Then Gale looked at the Mages. "Now it's up to us!"

He led the Mages to the stone mountain. He held the Elemental Spell Codex, turned to the page for the spell: Earthquake, and made the entire stone mountain vibrate.

"Rumble—"

The stones shifted, and countless cracks appeared. As the cracks grew larger, broken stones began to roll down the mountain. Finally, with a loud bang, the stone mountain completely collapsed.

The Mages looked at Gale in shock. What kind of spell was this? It possessed such astonishing destructive power.

Gale did not explain but turned the Elemental Spell Codex to the page for the spell: Summon Earth Element.

Reciting the incantation, Gale tore open space and summoned a giant Earth Element from Deepholm. The Earth Element was a bit confused, but when it saw only a dozen Mages around, it knew they had summoned it.

"Wizards, did you summon me?"

Gale closed the Elemental Spell Codex. "I summoned you. I need you to help me turn these stones into square blocks."

The Earth Element was even more bewildered. Was it summoned to the real world just to do such a simple task?

"Are you joking with me?"

"Of course not!" Gale said calmly. "I need a lot of square stones, and we will summon other Earth Elements later."

The Earth Element wanted to tell Gale that he was humiliating it. However, its peaceful nature, coupled with the existence of the summoning contract, made it choose to obey. "Alright! As you wish!"

For an Earth Element, making square stones was incredibly simple. It grabbed crushed stones with both hands, gave them a quick rub, and a square stone was complete.

The Earth Element's speed was not slow; it could produce a square stone in less than a minute. But building walls required at least tens of thousands of square stones, which it could not complete alone.

Gale summoned more than ten Earth Elements in one go, and the manufacturing speed significantly increased. Gale left two Mages to transport the square stones to the wooden rafts by the river.

Then, he led the other Mages to transport the first batch of square stones to the river. Navoli had already built several wooden rafts, and the Mages placed the square stones directly onto them.

Gale once again opened the Elemental Spell Codex, turning to the page for the spell: Summon Water Elementals. A few minutes later, more than ten Water Elementals appeared in the river.

The Water Elementals also had a gentle nature, but compared to the peace-loving Earth Elements, they seemed a bit more irritable.

Upon being summoned, they wanted to break free from the summoning contract. Gale had anticipated this and directly used Arcane to strengthen his control over them, making these Water Elementals obedient.

Gale ordered them to push the rafts back to the camp, and after the square stones were unloaded, to push the rafts back to the quarry.

He left two Mages to monitor these Water Elementals, lest they misbehave.

Although summoning Water Elementals was a Mage's skill in the game, and should be very safe by normal reasoning, Gale did not trust elemental beings. They never gave up the idea of returning to the real world. Weaker elemental beings with less self-awareness were fine, but the stronger the elemental beings, the stronger their desire for the real world.

When Deathwing triggered the Cataclysm, only the Earth Element did not help Deathwing; the other three elements were all accomplices.

However, what could be used still had to be used; one could not give up eating for fear of choking. Becoming strong oneself was the true principle, and Gale would not do something that amounted to self-sabotage.

He not only summoned Earth Elements and Water Elementals; if needed, he would also summon Wind Elementals and Fire Elementals. Even if these two elements were not friendly, it would not hinder Gale from utilizing them.

Returning to the base with the remaining Mages, Draksa had already roughly planned the location of the walls. Gale used Earth Element spells to dig out the foundation. Then he had the Mages place the square stones, using Arcane Energy as an adhesive to tightly bind the square stones together.

In this way, the walls were built little by little. Before nightfall on the third day, the entire wall was completed.

In the early morning of the fourth day, Carlos led the Alpha Squad back to the base, bringing bad news.

"It's a good thing you built the walls. The Trolls have already discovered the anomaly and are gathering their army to come over."

Gale: "Rest easy. Even if the Troll Army arrives, I can defend until night."

Carlos felt a little relieved upon hearing this. The Alpha Squad had barely rested for three days, and the soldiers were exhausted. Continuing to fight would likely result in heavy casualties.

At noon, Kana Darkwalker returned to the base and informed Gale that the Troll Army had arrived.

Sure enough, in less than half an hour, the Troll Army appeared outside the base. Looking at the towering walls, the Trolls were stunned: the Kaldorei had actually built such a large base right under their noses.

The small chieftain leading the army was even more terrified. If the Evil Branch Trolls found out about this, he would be torn alive by the Evil Branch Chieftain.

"Attack! Destroy this base and kill all the Dark Trolls!"

The Troll Chieftain furiously ordered, and the Trolls immediately charged towards the walls. They had not brought siege engines and could only rely on climbing. Fortunately, the walls were only ten yards high, equivalent to three of their heights, so they could climb over by stacking on each other.

Javelins and throwing axes were hurled onto the wall as if they were free, aiming to disrupt the defensive forces on the ramparts. They quickly rushed to the base of the wall, and just as they were climbing on top of their comrades, a terrifying energy suddenly erupted from the wall.

Then, countless dimensional portals opened in mid-air. A group of fiery figures was summoned and dropped among the Trolls.

The Fire Elemental and the Trolls came face to face, neither understanding what was happening.
