Chapter 45 - Chapter 45 Shadow Hunter

The trolls instinctively attacked the Fire Elementals, which immediately grew furious from the assault.

It shrieked skyward, and flames violently erupted from their bodies, engulfing and igniting all the surrounding trolls.

The trolls were engulfed in a sea of fire, jumping and thrashing about, completely forgetting about attacking the base.

The Fire Elemental waved its hand, and the flames on the trolls suddenly intensified, burning them to ashes in no time.

Metri stood on the city wall, saying worriedly, "I'm afraid these Fire Elementals won't be able to stop the trolls."

Gale replied, "It's just to dampen the trolls' morale and hinder their advance. The real battle will take place tonight."

"I'm afraid the trolls won't see it that way."

Before Metri could finish his sentence, a javelin imbued with dark Shadow energy flew over and plunged into the Fire Elemental's chest.

"Poof!"

The Fire Elemental suffered a critical blow, dissipating directly into the air and returning to the Elemental Plane of Fire.

"Shadow energy?" one of the Mages exclaimed in surprise.

"It must be a Shadow Hunter!" Metri said. "I've seen some confessions from troll prisoners. The trolls in the east all belong to the Amani Trolls. Thousands of years ago, the Amani Trolls pursued a demon that used Shadow energy all the way to the coast. They used a human wave tactic to kill the demon, but they also learned how to use Shadow energy from it. They call those who use Shadow energy Shadow Hunters."

Gale frowned slightly; he knew about this. The Amani Trolls pursued the Faceless One Kishix to what would later become Silvermoon City, killed it there, and settled down. Thousands of years of development led to the powerful Amani tribe they are today, whose territory occupied about one-seventh of the ancient Kalimdor continent, comparable to the entire Eastern Kingdoms in later times.

He also knew about Shadow Hunters, but in the game, they were support heroes. How did they become an upgraded version of Berserkers in reality?

Also using Shadow energy, the Berserkers' damage capability was comparable to that of Mages. Judging by the javelin's attack strength just now, it could pierce through an ordinary Mage's Arcane Shield and kill them directly.

If they could maintain accuracy while in a berserk state, Shadow Hunters would be the natural enemy of Kaldorei Mages.

Metri clearly noticed this too, warning the other Mages, "You must pay attention to his attacks. Once he targets you, none of us can withstand his javelins."

Hearing this, the Mages couldn't help but become nervous. They were all subordinate Mages of various Mage Towers; lacking sufficient talent and connections, they could only work for the Archmages.

When the Empire recruited Mages, they would represent the Archmages in battle. If the war was won, they would only receive some material rewards; all honor and merit would go to the Archmages.

These Mages were clearly unwilling to risk their lives for a bit of money.

Navoli then said, "He's revealed himself!"

Everyone quickly looked and saw a tall, dark-paneled troll emerge from the forest. He drew a javelin from his back, and as he raised his hand, a large amount of Shadow energy condensed on the javelin. When he threw it, the Shadow energy propelled the javelin to rapidly strike a Fire Elemental.

The Fire Elemental turned to ash, but the javelin, its momentum undiminished, plunged directly into the defensive wall.

Salador raised Wind Power and shot an arrow towards the Shadow Hunter's head.

Just as the arrow was about to hit the Shadow Hunter, he suddenly raised his hand and caught the arrow. He disdainfully broke the arrow shaft and casually threw it to the ground. He drew another javelin from his back, charged forward two steps, and threw it back at Salador.

The javelin was thrown and arrived in the blink of an eye. Salador wanted to dodge, but he was suppressed in place by an imposing aura.

In the nick of time, Gale blinked in front of Salador, raised Aggramar's Shield, and blocked the javelin.

"You are not his match!"

Gale threw the Elemental Spell Codex to Metri, drew the Golden Holy Sword, and said, "You summon the Fire Elementals; that Shadow Hunter is mine."

After speaking, he immediately activated Blink, reappearing outside the wall. The trolls, seeing that Gale dared to come out from inside the wall, immediately attacked him.

However, they didn't touch Gale. Instead, a flame dropped from the sky to the ground. The next second, a Fire Elemental Hell formed out of thin air, burning the trolls alive.

Dozens of yards away, Gale calmly walked, completely unaffected by the gruesome scene in the Firestorm.

Real men never look back at explosions!

The Shadow Hunter also noticed Gale, and a murderous intent flashed in his eyes. He drew another javelin, intending to kill Gale.

The javelin was extremely fast, but Gale's movements were even faster. Without even using Aggramar's Shield, Gale blinked to the side. The javelin followed its original trajectory, piercing through several trolls' bodies.

Attacks without guidance are difficult to kill prepared Mages.

The Shadow Hunter was somewhat annoyed. He also knew he couldn't deal with a Mage using Blink. So, he drew his last two javelins from his back and charged at Gale. If long-range didn't work, then close combat!

Gale sneered, pointed the Golden Holy Sword, and a Rain of Fire descended from the sky, enveloping him.

The Shadow Hunter remained unfazed, using a Shadow Shield to block the Rain of Fire, and continued to charge at Gale.

Gale looked at the Shadow Shield, feeling a bit annoyed. But that's how it is with spellcasters; defensive spells are essential skills.

The logic is simple: only by staying alive can you kill your enemies.

The Shadow Hunter, capable of using Shadow energy, was naturally not a foolish troll.

Gale put away the Golden Holy Sword, drew the Sanction Blade, and also charged at the Shadow Hunter. With Aggramar's Shield, would he be afraid of a Shadow Hunter?

Soon, the two collided. The Shadow Hunter, relying on his tall stature and powerful strength, directly crashed into Aggramar's Shield. Gale was sent flying, but before he landed, he blinked behind the Shadow Hunter, and the Sanction Blade struck the Shadow Shield.

The Shadow Hunter reacted quickly; upon realizing Gale had disappeared, he immediately turned and attacked.

Gale used Aggramar's Shield to deflect a javelin, and ducked to avoid the follow-up attack from the other javelin. At the same time, an Ice Ring spread outwards from his feet, hitting the Shadow Shield and disappearing.

Damn it! He's immune to control. Could it be an invincibility skill, just like in the game?

The Shadow Hunter sneered, continuously attacking with both javelins. He could tell that the shield in Gale's hand was strong, but he didn't believe Gale could block all his attacks.

Indeed, Gale quickly became flustered. His close combat experience was far inferior to the Shadow Hunter's; they were not on the same level.

However, he consistently chose not to activate Aggramar's Shield's protective barrier; he was intentionally honing his combat skills. Spells couldn't solve all problems, and thinking about close combat only when spells failed would be too late!
