Chapter 59 - Chapter 59: The Troll's Home-Changing Tactics

"Tell me, how should we scout the Trolls?"

Yue Nu looked at Gale with anticipation, hoping Gale could come up with an effective plan.

Gale frowned slightly; he didn't have a great solution either.

"The forest is too vast. Although I can create more Asunite Eye Stones, it's still very difficult to cover the entire forest. Moreover, for scouting Trolls, the Eye Stones aren't very effective. So, we still need to use the Arcane Eye for reconnaissance."

Turann High Mage said, "But, that would probably require many Mages, wouldn't it?"

Gale nodded, "It does require many Mages. We need to gather Mages to create a giant Arcane Eye, send it high into the sky, and observe the entire forest. If the Trolls gather together, there will inevitably be large settlements. Although Trolls are barbaric, they do eat cooked food, so they will definitely use fire…"

"As long as we find sources of fire, we can determine where the Trolls are, and then conduct targeted reconnaissance?" Turann High Mage instantly understood Gale's idea.

Yue Nu excitedly slammed the table, "This is a good method! We'll do it this way."

Gale: "Since everyone has no objections, the logistics team will depart now and strive to complete the Fortress as soon as possible."

Yue Nu naturally had no problems, and Tulan readily lent fifty Mages to Gale.

Maiev and Gale set off together. The Priest Corps has always been in a support role, responsible for healing and saving lives. Since there was no fighting at Alpha Fortress, they also needed to go to the front lines to provide aid to the soldiers.

Currently, the rescue efforts on the front line were handled by the military medics assembled by Gale. These individuals all had some knowledge of treatment. That these novices could handle treatment work was mainly due to the Regeneration Potion. Fortunately, the Kaldorei Empire army's tactics were relatively safe, resulting in few casualties and many minor injuries.

Gamma Group and Second Legion suffered over a hundred deaths attacking the Troll village, not because the military medics were slow to respond, but because these individuals died on the battlefield and had no chance for treatment. Otherwise, with the power of the Regeneration Potion, many could have been saved.

The Trolls in this forest had been mostly cleared out. Yue Nu named it Corridor Forest. Because this forest was an S-shaped corridor passage, with the two gaps of the S occupied by high mountains, making the terrain much more complex, which was why the Trolls there were difficult to clear out.

Alpha Fortress was at the top of the S, and the Troll village was at the lower right bend of the S. After the logistics team arrived at the Troll village, its name became Corridor Fortress.

Following the same method as building Alpha Fortress, Gale summoned a large number of Earth Elementals to construct Corridor Fortress. Then, some Troll captives were added as laborers, to free up as many Mages as possible.

On a nearby mountain peak, Gale built a High Mountain Tower, then led most of the Mages into the tower. Gale presided over the magic array, and dozens of Mages combined their efforts to summon a giant Arcane Eye.

To be honest, Gale didn't think much of these Mages; the mana provided by dozens of Mages wasn't even as much as a single eternal holy grail. But there was no other way; Gale couldn't activate the magic array alone, as his research in magic arrays wasn't very deep.

Controlling the Arcane Eye as it ascended, the unknown forest ahead soon appeared in Gale's view. Soon, he discovered many Kaldorei bases, all established by Gamma Group and Second Legion, used for storing supplies and transporting Troll captives.

This forest was temporarily named Dustwallow Marsh, because with the trees blocking the view, it looked as if dust was lingering in the air. Gamma Group and Second Legion had breached many small Troll settlements, capturing over a thousand Troll captives.

Flying a long distance, he finally saw Gamma Group's outpost. This was the foremost front line; beyond it was an unknown area that even Gamma Group had not explored. However, this did not affect Gale's reconnaissance. Upon flying over Gamma Group's outpost, he discovered several Troll settlements ahead.

Like the settlements previously destroyed by the warriors, these were all small settlements. This made Gale frown; in such a large forest, why were there only small settlements? This wasn't logical!

Continuing to scout forward, he flew all the way to the forest's boundary but found no large Troll settlements.

Gale frowned deeply, looked at the magic map he had created, and decided he could scout in both the north and south directions. After some thought, he decided to scout north first, because in the north, besides Trolls, there was a new threat. According to his memory of the Northrend map, north of this forest should be Howling Fjord, which was Vrykul territory.

The Vrykul of Howling Fjord were the warlike Dragon Rider Clan, who were later the ancestors of humans. The Dragon Rider Clan was very powerful; they could ride Proto-Dragons, and every warrior was a Dragon Knight. If they were disturbed, the Kaldorei Empire, with its current strength, would be no match.

Fortunately, no large Troll settlements were seen in the north.

Gale again scouted south and discovered a high mountain there. However, on the eastern side of the high mountain, he found a pass leading to forests both east and south. Continuing to scout the eastern forest, he found that, like Dustwallow Marsh, it only contained small Troll settlements.

He redirected the Arcane Eye to the southern forest and, following a very long mountain path, arrived at a Troll city.

The Troll city was built into the mountain, making it difficult to spot from the north. A large number of Trolls were gathered inside. Not far south of the city, there was a large Troll settlement, located by a large river.

Lowering the Arcane Eye's altitude, he soon discovered that the Trolls had built docks in the river and were using simple boats to transport supplies downstream. Gale scouted along the river, and every day's journey, there was a Troll settlement. These Troll settlements all had docks for boats to berth, apparently built for the Trolls rowing to rest.

The river first flowed south, then turned west, passing through high mountains into a jungle region.

In the jungle, a massive Troll Army was moving west, numbering over a hundred thousand.

Gale looked at the magic map and realized that this jungle region was south of Corridor Forest. And the direction the Troll Army was advancing was towards Sin'dorei.

No wonder no Trolls were found in Dustwallow Marsh! They had actually bypassed the central hub of the Kaldorei Empire, intending to play a 'base trade' tactic.

If the Trolls' strategy succeeded, then the Trolls would surely win. Because the Kaldorei Empire's foremost army, Gamma Group, was still thousands of miles away from the Amani Trolls' capital, Zul'Aman.

There were capable individuals among the Trolls!

No wonder the Trolls, during their primitive era, could defeat the Azj'Aqir Empire and occupy most of ancient Kalimdor's land!
