Chapter 62 - Chapter 62 Spell: Arctic Storm

The Drakkari Troll, blocked by the venom for several days, finally found a way to break through.

They collected the surrounding snow, boiled it into water in a pot, and poured it over the venom.

The diluted venom's toxicity was reduced, and its pungent smell also dissipated considerably.

Then, they laid wooden planks over the venom, allowing them to cross the venomous area.

Having successfully neutralized the threat of the venom, the Drakkari Troll resumed their attack.

Just as they reached the foot of the Alpha Fortress and were about to launch their assault, a voice echoed from the mountain on one side.

"Trolls, meet your death!"

Before the Trolls could even turn their heads, a massive amount of cold air condensed in the atmosphere, and countless ice spikes materialized in the sky.

Before the Trolls could even register fear, the ice spikes, carrying the frigid air, shot down.

The combination of the spell and gravity turned these ice spikes into deadly weapons, piercing through the Trolls' bodies and embedding themselves in the Mammoths' hides.

The tough-skinned Mammoths only sustained minor injuries; they shook their heads, trying to dislodge the ice spikes.

The next second, a large amount of cold air emanated from the ice spikes, permeating the Mammoths' bodies and freezing their blood.

With their blood unable to circulate, the Mammoths, no matter how strong their vitality, could not survive.

"Oh—"

Watching the Mammoths collapse one by one, the soldiers on the city walls let out a thunderous cheer.

Yue Nu also breathed a sigh of relief; the battles of the past few days were still fresh in his memory.

If Gale hadn't arrived then and used his spells to scare away the Drakkari Troll, Alpha Fortress would probably have been breached by now.

They had fought for several days, killing only a dozen Mammoths, yet Gale's single spell took down over a hundred.

Such a stark difference made Yue Nu shake his head, and he looked enviously towards the mountain: mages truly are amazing!

Having eliminated over a hundred Mammoths, Gale showed no signs of elation.

He shifted his gaze to the Drakkari Troll encampment outside the mountain pass, where hundreds more Mammoths and tens of thousands of Drakkari Troll remained.

However, their lives would end today.

Gale closed his eyes and slowly raised Nash's Fang.

The runes on the short sword gradually lit up, releasing a powerful chill that surged towards the sky above the Drakkari Troll encampment.

Within the camp, the Drakkari Troll were in a chaotic mess.

They had all felt the powerful magical aura from the mountain pass earlier, and that immense pressure had made them feel fear even within their camp.

This time, the army was led by the chieftain of the Winter Axe Clan of the Drakkari Troll, a strong and belligerent individual.

Sensing the anomaly at the mountain pass, he immediately dispatched scouts to investigate.

However, shortly after the scouts left, the entire camp was enveloped in cold air.

The Winter Axe Chieftain emerged from his tent and looked up at the sky.

He saw dark clouds gathering, and soon, large, goose-feather-sized snowflakes began to fall.

"It's not time for snow yet!" a Troll said, puzzled.

That Troll reached out to catch a cluster of snowflakes, rubbed them in his hand, and his expression immediately turned to horror.

"What… what is this?"

Other Trolls looked over and saw that the Troll's hand was frozen solid, and the ice was spreading to other parts of his body.

In a few seconds, that Troll was frozen into a block of ice.

Before being completely frozen, he tried to escape, but ended up falling to the ground and shattering into a pile of ice shards.

"This snow is strang—"

A Troll tried to issue a warning, but before he could finish his sentence, he was frozen into a block of ice.

The Winter Axe Chieftain was terrified; he pulled his tent over himself and shouted loudly, warning the other Trolls: "Do not touch the snowflakes! Cover your heads with your tents!"

In just a few seconds, countless Trolls throughout the camp were frozen into blocks of ice.

The other Trolls were terrified; some tried to rescue their companions, but as soon as they touched the ice, they too were frozen.

Some Trolls tried to run out of the camp, wanting to escape this frozen purgatory.

But alas, the snow fell denser and denser; they couldn't escape and were soon frozen into blocks of ice.

Only those Trolls who obeyed the Winter Axe Chieftain's command survived; they covered their bodies with tents.

By not touching the snowflakes, they could temporarily ensure their safety.

Hiding under their tents, they observed their surroundings.

Soon, they discovered something even more terrifying: not only were the Trolls frozen, but even the Mammoths were turned into blocks of ice.

However, the Mammoths, with their thick hides, merely shattered the ice when they fell to the ground, finding release in the process.

The terrified Mammoths started running, trying to escape the camp, but they charged into the tent area.

The trampling of hundreds of Mammoths left the tent area in disarray.

The Trolls hiding under the tents were either trampled to death or injured by the Mammoths, or their tents were torn away by the Mammoths, leaving them exposed to the freezing snowflakes.

Only a few Trolls were lucky enough to escape the Mammoths' rampage, but they could only huddle under their tents, trembling.

Soon, these Trolls discovered something even more horrifying.

The snowflakes became denser and denser, and those Mammoths that hadn't escaped were also frozen into blocks of ice.

After falling to the ground, their thick hides were frozen off by the ice, exposing their flesh which, upon contact with the snowflakes, was re-frozen.

This time, the Mammoths could not get up.

The Trolls shivered in fear; what kind of spell was this? It was so sinister.

Gale's gaze was like lightning; he saw the situation in the Troll camp clearly.

This spell was called Extreme Cold Storm, an upgraded version of Blizzard, and it was his theoretical work from his early research into Frost Spell.

Because of its immense power and high energy consumption, it was not recorded in the Elemental Spell Codex.

Even with the amplification of the eternal holy grail, he couldn't cast this spell.

Perhaps with Ice Breath, it might be possible, but Ice Breath had been taken by Sethonis, so he hadn't had a chance to experiment.

However, the power of Nash's Fang allowed him to complete this spell.

The spell's effect was so potent that it exceeded his imagination, even more powerful than he had anticipated.

He had thought it would condense into ice spears! But it turned out to be snowflakes.

Although the snowflakes seemed inconspicuous, Gale knew their temperature was extremely low, approximately -50℃, and upon contact with a heat source, they would immediately absorb a large amount of heat.

Coupled with the magic contained within them, this was why they could freeze the Trolls in a matter of seconds.

Science plus magic created this Frost-element "Forbidden Spell".

In the Troll camp, he could still see some Trolls moving around.

Although he knew there were survivors, Gale did not intend to wipe them all out.

He needed to let some Trolls return to let the Drakkari Troll know the might of the Kaldorei Empire and prevent them from overestimating themselves again.

As he cut off the spell, the cold air in the sky gradually dissipated.

Just then, a roar suddenly came from the sky.

A Proto-Dragon swooped down through the clouds, glanced at the Troll camp, and seemed uninterested in the frozen Trolls and Mammoths.

It turned its gaze towards the Mammoth corpses in front of the Alpha Fortress, about to fly over for a feast.

"Hmph!"

A cold snort came, and the Proto-Dragon's body stiffened.

It saw a mage standing on the mountain, watching him with cold eyes.

The Proto-Dragon was annoyed, opened its mouth to spray dragon breath to kill the mage, but instead saw a cold light flash in the mage's eyes, and countless ice spikes appeared out of thin air, impaling it like a porcupine.
