Darkshore, Amissaran.
This newly built city was facing an unprecedented crisis; countless spiders were rampaging across Darkshore. Etherix Nassinra, Lord of Amissaran, was organizing resistance, but as the city was new and the number of Kaldorei who had migrated here was limited, they couldn't form a very strong military force.
Even more serious, Etherix's magic tower was not built here, but far to the north—it was built upon a node of the Arcane Web.
The Tower of Osacras also did not share its spatial beacon with Sin'dorei. Therefore, only Etherix could open a portal to and from Sin'dorei.
Thus, Amissaran was in an un-rescuable state.
The Kaldorei within the city fell into despair, a despair that forced them to persist in defending the city. After all, no one wanted to die just like that.
They held out for three months, and the remaining construction supplies were almost exhausted. Just as the Kaldorei saw no hope, a giant white stag appeared on the hillside outside the city. On the stag's back sat a Kaldorei mage.
"Aren't you going to rescue your compatriots?" Malorne asked.
Gale said indifferently, "No need to waste time. Since they've held out this long, they can hold out for a bit longer. We'll stick to our original plan and directly attack Sogus's main army. As long as Sogus is defeated, the spiders here will retreat, and they will all survive."
Etherix was an Archmage of Savis's faction, making him Gale's political rival. While Gale wouldn't stand by and watch him die, letting Etherix suffer a bit was acceptable.
Political struggles were this cruel, and Gale was no saint. He had suspected Savis about the ambush of the logistics troops long ago. He just hadn't had an opportunity for revenge until now, so of course, he wouldn't miss a chance to trip up Savis's supporters.
Malorne tilted his head; he didn't quite understand Gale's thinking. Although there were many spiders besieging Amissaran, with Gale's strength, it would only take one large spell.
However, he also didn't want to get involved in the internal strife among the Kaldorei. Since Gale said not to rescue them, then they would proceed with the plan to find Sogus.
He charged down the hillside, running swiftly south. Nature had already given him feedback; Stone Giants were battling Sogus's army in the south.
A few hours later, Malorne passed through an ancient forest and arrived at a beach. On the beach, tall and mighty Stone Giants were continuously charging the spider army. The evil spiders were no match for these natural warriors, being beaten without any ability to retaliate. Even so, they suffered extremely heavy casualties.
Sogus stood near the road, directing the battle. His Apostles and Faceless Ones were gathering troops, seemingly intending to launch a counterattack.
Gale said, "This spot will do. Getting too close might attract Sogus's attention."
Malorne stopped, and Gale flashed to an open space, took out a teleportation crystal, and activated a portal.
On the other side of the portal was the recently completed Morning Light Tower, and below the tower was the ready Alliance Army. Cenarius was the first to step through the portal, followed by the Kaldorei army. Navoli and Draksa each led a fifty-man company composed of mercenaries.
Moraine Highmountain personally led the Tauren warriors, also having drawn out a hundred men.
The Drogbar also sent a hundred men, but Turok, the Gray King, did not come personally; he was still overseeing the construction of the Cliffside Camp.
The Drogbar were not very accustomed to surface life, and building a camp required learning from scratch. This made the Drogbar very frustrated; they preferred to fight. If Turok left, the Drogbar might act recklessly and clash with the Kaldorei and Tauren who were teaching them.
For the expedition, whether Turok was present or not was not important. Gale and Cenarius did not expect the Drogbar to play too significant a role; having them send troops was merely a way for them to express their stance.
Gale called Metri over, "Give the spiders a snowstorm."
Metri nodded, flashed to a hillside, and began casting Extreme Cold Storm.
The gathering dark clouds caught Sogus's attention, and he sensed the aura of magic within them. Following the direction of the magic, he quickly discovered Metri and the allied forces.
"How dare you provoke me? You truly have a death wish."
He called over an Apostle, pointed in Metri's direction, "Kill that mortal, and crush that army."
The Apostle immediately turned, leading his army directly towards Metri.
Gale waved his hand, sending Navoli and Draksa to protect Metri.
Then he said to Malorne and Cenarius, "Your Excellencies, each of you lead fifty Drogbar, bypass this army, and raid Sogus."
The two demigods wasted no words, immediately leading the Drogbar around to both sides.
Gale said to Moraine, "Chief, once this army stops advancing, immediately lead the Tauren in a charge and eliminate them as quickly as possible."
Moraine nodded, "Don't worry, Your Excellency Gale, they are no match for the Tauren."
After Gale had made his arrangements, he immediately flashed and disappeared before everyone.
The Apostle looked at the Kaldorei blocking their path and sneered inwardly: So few people, not even enough to fill a spider's teeth.
"Kill them all!"
Navoli watched the spiders approach with a cold sneer, took a few steps forward, and then shouted, "Close your eyes!"
The Kaldorei quickly closed their eyes, feeling a bright flash even through their eyelids.
The spiders shrieked in pain; they had lived underground for a long time and could barely move during the day. The light from the Flash spell was much stronger than sunlight, and their eyes simply couldn't withstand such intense light.
"Charge!"
Seeing this, Navoli immediately gave the command to charge. He took the lead, rushing into the midst of the spiders. navoli's swift blades swiftly wrapped around a spider's neck, severing its head.
Draksa also launched a charge, UmbraEdge slashing down diagonally, cutting a spider in two.
The Kaldorei wouldn't miss this opportunity to strike while the iron was hot, swarming towards the spiders, taking advantage of their weakened state.
The Tauren hadn't had time to close their eyes and were somewhat affected by the Flash spell. However, their nerves were thick, and their vision quickly recovered.
Moraine also quickly gave the charge command, joining the ranks of those ganging up on the spiders.
Just then, Metri's spell was also ready. Snowflakes fell, and the careless spiders were frozen into ice sculptures, losing thousands in a few seconds.
Sogus roared, "Mortal, you are testing my patience!"
He raised his pincers, and a powerful Shadow energy shot straight into the sky, directly dispersing the dark clouds. It was the first time the Extreme Cold Storm spell had been disrupted.
Metri's face turned grim, and he felt annoyed with himself. If his micro-management skills were half of Gale's, he wouldn't have had his spell broken by Sogus.
However, this also indirectly proved that Sogus's strength was indeed much greater than Ulgineis's.
