The toad-like beast stood on its hind legs, its large toad eyes looking at Ethan with menace. Strangely, a bone-like weapon that looked like a hammer appeared in its hand.
The aura of the beast had increased — probably at the middle-stage Sacred Beast.
The tension in the air grew as the space became a bit heavy. Two gazes stared daggers at each other. If anyone should do stupidity and come in between them, they would instantly turn to mist.
Ethan's hand was on the hilt of his [Death Blade].
The beast on the other side had its bone hammer on its back.
"What! Does this guy have a death wish? I can feel its aura has increased!" a lady in purple armor cried out.
Lynx, Gloria, and Freddy just stood there quietly. They were waiting for the moment.
BOOOM
Like a bullet let out of its pistol, the beast moved with frightening speed. Ethan just stood there unmoving.
Bang
Like a mountain pressing down on an ant, the toad beast used its bone weapon on Ethan. The other awakened already thought he was a meat paste by now.
Strangely, a figure appeared at the back of the hulking beast.
Jab
Ethan stabbed forward — no special technique applied. The beast moved strangely, and Ethan's blade met air.
"Hmm, interesting. I am intrigued," Ethan thought. This beast was smart and understood situations better.
Ethan didn't want to use his technique yet — he wanted to learn the technique this beast was using.
And so the clash continued.
Several meters away from them became a battleground. The clash was intense. The man and beast were dancing like bride and groom, but the awakened knew the dancing was deadly. Each move was meant to take life.
BOOOM
Ethan was knocked several meters back. Ethan immediately stabilized himself as he looked at the beast. He then smirked as he lunged again.
For two hours straight Ethan studied the beast's technique. The awakened were surprised. It's been two hours now and Ethan didn't even appear tired at all — instead he was thrilled.
Drones hovered above the battle scene as the spectators and Supremes watched.
"What's his name?" Supreme Diana asked one Transcendence warrior beside her.
"His name is Ethan Sylvester. A nobody from Planet New Eden," the man with transparent hair said.
"No titles, no name, no properties," he added.
"Intriguing," Diana said. Ethan amazed her. She could see he was fighting like a true expert. Not only that, his technique was strange.
"I must recruit him as my disciple at once," she thought.
The Transcendence warrior knew what was on her mind. "This guy is lucky. Catching a Supreme's attention is considered a good luck," he said.
On the other side, General X looked at the battle scene. He too was thrilled, but deep down he feared for Ethan.
Another hour passed and the battle was still ongoing. By this time numerous drones from different news outlets and military drones were hovering above them.
Ethan saw this and frowned. He needed to wrap this up quickly.
Ethan rushed back with precision as he saw numerous wounds on the sacred beast. Its aura was weakening.
"What! Was the sacred beast burning its soul core for more power?" Ethan thought with amazement.
Not only him — others noticed too.
"I am live on People's Channel right here on Planet Helios," a beautiful petite girl with purple hair said in front of a camera.
"As you can see right on the screen, an awakened, possibly a peak-stage awakened, is seen battling a sacred beast all by himself, which is unheard of," she said.
Numerous people on the global platform began watching the live, and people were commenting like crazy.
"Damn this guy is good," a user named Ghost commented.
"I like this guy, he's handsome," another said.
"The beast's aura is increasing and he's still battling it! Is this guy crazy or does he want to meet his maker?"
"Crap, there's too much attention…" Ethan grimaced.

Everybody was shocked. Earlier Ethan was just stalking and keeping the beast in a tight position. Now he was clashing with it head-on.
Ethan performed the new technique.
To the beast's shock, it met a heavy blow from an unexpected angle — a blade hissing with the aura of death lunged out.

It flew as it hit a residential building nearby. Rubble covered the whole area.

The Transcendence warriors beside Supreme Diana began talking, speculating which Supreme would recruit him. Obviously many strong Supremes would compete for Ethan.
In the dark room, the same thing was happening.
The calm one was filled with surprise. The playful one giggled as he squatted on his seat.
"Ah, I can see the looks on y'all faces. Don't even think about it — he's mine," he said smiling.
"Nonsense. You don't have the right to force him to be your disciple. He will choose himself," the bold one said.
"Then tell that old wench up there the same thing," the playful one said, changing his tone.
"You guys are wasting your time. Do you think Master Chief won't hear about him?" the calm one said.
Everyone went silent.
They all knew a dangerous journey was coming for the young awakened.
Deep within the ruins, three figures were resting under a shade.
"Damn, that was close," Freddy said.
"Ethan, are you okay?" Gloria asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Ethan said, pretending to pant. Otherwise who would believe he beat that beast without getting tired?
Lynx looked at Ethan with amazement. He thought he was the strongest — but Ethan surpassed him completely.
"We have to rest here for a bit," Ethan said. The others nodded.
Checking his stats, Ethan was satisfied.
