Chapter 89 - Colossus vs. Hulk

"How could I possibly be tired? You're underestimating me!"

Chen Xi didn't feel the slightest bit exhausted—on the contrary, he was exhilarated. Just thinking about the three beautiful women in front of him, all dressed up in clothes he liked, strolling around and chatting, filled him with energy. How could he feel tired?

With his approval, the group soon headed out to the streets of New York.

Shop after shop lined the bustling avenue, doors open wide.

For girls, shopping seemed like an eternal passion. They never grew weary; they went from store to store, their arms full of shopping bags, leaving one boutique only to enter another moments later.

By the end, they had bought so much that they had to call for a special car just to help transport everything.

"Maybe we should've just picked the home delivery option from the start."

Chen Xi sat down on a lounge chair, fingers interlaced and resting on his knees.

Accompanying the girls while they shopped was actually quite fun—he didn't find it annoying in the least.

Still, when he saw them laden with bags, their faces beaming with excitement but tinged with fatigue, he couldn't help but feel a little sorry for them.

"Of course we have to pick things ourselves! Holding what you buy in your own hands is what makes shopping feel real. If everything's just sent straight home, what's the fun in that?"

"Exactly! Having it all delivered would be so boring."

"..."

They had their reasons. Chen Xi said no more, simply trying to make things easier for them while waiting patiently nearby.

Whenever they asked for his opinion about an outfit, he'd give a few thoughtful suggestions.

"Your skin's really fair—royal blue would look stunning on you."

"Why not try a style you've never worn before?"

"Too thin? How could it be? You're just going to tear it up anyway. I think it's perfect."

"..."

Some of Chen Xi's comments left the girls blushing bright red.

Eventually, they covered their faces and refused to ask him anything else—afraid of hearing more of his shamelessly teasing remarks.

While Chen Xi was accompanying the girls, apart from the dutiful store clerks, quite a few onlookers outside were peering through the glass windows.

He hadn't bothered to hide his identity, so the people who recognized him as a hero—both ordinary humans and mutants alike—were thrilled.

"You're Chen Xi, the guy who beat the villains, right? Can I have your autograph? You're so cool! My whole family loves you!"

A boy of about ten eagerly handed Chen Xi a notebook and pen. "Tomorrow at school, I'm going to show everyone—they'll be so jealous!"

"Yes, and a lot of people are already jealous of you," Gwen said with a laugh, gently ruffling the boy's hair.

The boy blushed, clutched the signed notebook to his chest, and ran off.

A young mother picked him up, smiling brightly—and even, to the crowd's amusement, snatched the autograph right out of his hands.

"Looks like that young mother's a fan of yours too," Wanda said with a faint note of jealousy as she sat down beside Chen Xi, though she quickly smiled afterward.

Someone like Chen Xi—so powerful and charismatic—was bound to attract admiration.

She'd already accepted that there would likely be more "sisters" joining her in the future.

It should have been a pleasant outing, but where there are people, there will always be conflict—and among mutants, fights could be far more terrifying than those of ordinary humans.

BOOM!

Outside the store, a massive tree was suddenly struck and toppled to the ground.

"Oh my god, what's happening?"

The crowd initially scattered in panic, but the moment they spotted Chen Xi nearby, they all rushed into the store instead, cramming the small space full.

Before the rush, Chen Xi and his companions had already stepped outside, wanting to see what was going on.

"Mutants causing trouble?"

Gwen was about to act when Chen Xi raised a hand to stop her. "Wait. Let's see what's going on first."

They didn't even know who the enemy was yet—or whether this fight had anything to do with them. Charging in recklessly could hurt innocent people.

After all, their powers weren't exactly gentle—once unleashed, it was the bystanders who would suffer most.

"The visibility here's not great. I'll go check ahead," Gwen said.

She promised she wouldn't act impulsively or hurt anyone.

Chen Xi studied her expression carefully. Seeing her determination, he lowered his hand, and she quickly swung away on spider silk, soaring into the air.

Mutants were everywhere these days, and many had learned to use their abilities in daily life. Ordinary people had long grown accustomed to it—seeing Gwen transform didn't even surprise them anymore.

In fact, many of them looked at her with envy.

Gwen moved swiftly, and she returned just as fast, landing gracefully in front of Chen Xi.

"It's Hulk," she said. "For some reason, he's fighting Colossus."

A fight breaking out right in the middle of downtown—without even bothering to avoid the crowds—was an absolute disaster!

Gwen frowned deeply, disturbed by what she'd seen.

"There are a lot of mutants," Chen Xi said calmly. "It's impossible to control them all."

"Making mutants obedient isn't something that can happen overnight. I've never expected that."

He spoke slowly. "Besides… some people simply aren't the type to obey."

He knew that this kind of conflict wasn't unique to the city center—mutant fights were probably happening all over the world. The same was true among humans.

While they spoke, the battle between Colossus and Hulk had become visible even from where they stood.

With a roar, the silver-skinned giant—his body gleaming like metal—leapt high into the air, claws glinting, and came crashing down toward the massive green figure on the ground.

One in the air, one on the earth—when they collided, both staggered backward several steps.

Colossus's body was nearly indestructible, his defense unmatched.

Hulk, on the other hand, possessed terrifying strength and resilience of his own.

If he had been up against a mutant who used magic or energy attacks, Hulk might have lost—but Colossus specialized in raw physical power.

And Hulk was the kind of being who only grew stronger the longer he fought.

As the battle went on, Colossus gradually began to lose ground.

"Looks like it's almost over," Wanda said, arms crossed, standing beside Chen Xi as she made her calm assessment.
