Chapter 91 - Temporal and Spatial Chaos

After this day, Chen Xi began a series of preparations. Ordinary humans couldn't see what he was doing, but they could feel the tension among the mutants around them.

"What exactly is happening?"

A mutant's boyfriend suddenly stood up abruptly, startling his partner.

"Why are you leaving so quickly? Aren't we going to hang out?"

Some friends who had been playing together suddenly vanished, transforming and leaving in a blur.

"Watch the kids for me," a mutant mother said to her companion, then disappeared without another word.

All over the world, people could sense the mutants' anxiety. Even ordinary humans felt the tension, though they didn't understand the cause.

Chen Xi stood by the window, watching the strange phenomena in the sky.

To ordinary people, there might not have been anything unusual—but to seasoned mutants who had experienced wars and sensed anomalies, the situation was clearly off.

The sky was dark, winds howled, and it seemed as if a violent storm was imminent.

Under the summons of several mutant captains, groups of mutants began assembling in an orderly fashion.

They carried all sorts of weapons—tested and perfected over countless experiments—and received numerous potions from the captains.

"These potions will save your lives and can temporarily boost your strength several times over, with no side effects," one of the captains explained.

Even hearing that one could increase their abilities severalfold was enough to excite the mutants.

"Don't worry. We will use these potions in the most effective way, without wasting a single drop," came the assurance.

With instructions given, everyone waited. Long moments passed, but nothing happened.

"What's going on?"

The mutants exchanged glances. No event had occurred, but instead of relief, there was an even greater sense of unease.

Chen Xi frowned slightly. Then, suddenly, he smiled.

"So that's what's happening."

Through the distance, he saw something that made him understand the next steps.

Wanda, standing behind him, had been worried, but now relaxed slightly.

"Have everyone return. Nothing will happen today. Keep your eyes open, and report any strange occurrences or disturbances immediately."

Chen Xi's sudden order confused everyone, but they obeyed. The message spread quickly, and tension dissipated as the mutants returned.

Even ordinary humans, seeing the mutants calm, relaxed as well.

"Nothing to worry about. Chen Xi said it's fine.""Yeah, if Chen Xi says it's fine, it must be fine."

Though Chen Xi's words weren't literally meant to reassure, Wanda understood the unspoken meaning and provided additional guidance.

Surface calm returned to the world, and for some, that was enough. Most people, despite a few troublemakers, simply wanted to live peacefully.

But unbeknownst to them, incidents continued to occur—just controlled and suppressed by the mutant teams.

Led by Chen Xi, the mutants split into squads, appearing across the globe.

They observed temporal rifts, twisted timelines, massive mountains collapsing, pedestrians disappearing mid-step, and some people suddenly teleported from the south to the north.

These phenomena occurred constantly.

Though Chen Xi tried to control public perception, the events inevitably caused concern—after all, they were happening right in people's surroundings.

Online, rumors and reports spread:

"I was with my boyfriend, about to do something intimate, and he suddenly vanished. At first, I thought I was seeing a ghost, but he appeared at my friend's house.""My deceased mother suddenly returned home, sitting in the living room. I'm terrified.""I always hoped my school would disappear forever… and suddenly it did.""Strangers broke into my house…"

For ordinary people, these were bizarre experiences; for mutants, the situation was catastrophic.

"Time and space… they're completely messed up," someone muttered.

Even if they refused to admit it, that was reality. The gods had played a cruel joke. Even the TVA would be powerless here.

The mutants' faces were grim, but seeing Chen Xi, thin and frail though he was, felt like a reassuring anchor.

"Apocalypse won't be resurrected, right?""What about those we killed…"

Even recalling these horrors mentally was chilling.

"Even if they are resurrected, Chen Xi can kill once… and he can kill again."

Confidence returned to some.

But Chen Xi tilted his head, sensing something subtle amidst the chaos.

Several timelines seemed to be merging, and in these converging lines, he himself did not exist.

Interesting.

It seemed the gods had noticed something.
