Chapter 92 - The Gods’ Alliance Collapses

What would have happened in the original timeline if he hadn't existed?

Evil could never triumph over justice.

Hahaha… nothing would have changed.

These gods were truly foolish. How could they think that, without him, there would automatically be someone capable of opposing him? How could they assume that those who could resist him would side with the gods?

Originally, he had been looking forward to the gods sending their chosen ones—but none had appeared.

Even so, it was still amusing.

Chen Xi let out a soft hum, even breaking into a little tune.

"Mr. Chen Xi is singing… looks like this will be an easy solution," one muttered.

"Can you hear what he's singing?"

"It's a bit far… can't make it out."

"…"

Of course, they weren't truly concerned about what Chen Xi was singing—they were just trying to ease the tension.

Their former enemies, now far stronger than before, were no match for the mutant battalion.

They were easily annihilated.

Everything came too easily.

After completing their tasks, the mutants couldn't help but murmur among themselves.

"Just this?"

They felt that even if Apocalypse were resurrected, they could have killed him directly without Chen Xi intervening.

Even the strongest enemies were always growing stronger—but so were they.

"This was just a test."

"The first test."

Chen Xi smiled.

Standing atop a mountain, he once again felt that intense gaze trying to burn through his body.

He turned to face it, smiling radiantly—a smile full of mockery.

To the gods, it was pure provocation.

"This human named Chen Xi is infuriating!" the Planetary Devourer fumed. "He knows we're watching, yet dares to meet our gaze so defiantly!"

"Whose idea was this? Terrible!"

The Goddess of Death spoke calmly, though her eyes betrayed displeasure: "Weren't we supposed to send our chosen ones?"

"It's better not to act rashly without knowing the full extent of his power," Infinity said lightly. "Besides, isn't it fun to watch him flounder?"

"Do you see him struggling?" Death retorted sharply.

Infinity fell silent—an error in judgment. No wonder Death was angry.

Eternity tried to mediate: "Everyone is trying to accomplish the same goal. Although the results weren't perfect, at least we saw the collective strength of these mutants. That's a positive outcome."

Oblivion grumbled: "Why bother with all this nonsense? Just destroy them. Bring some powerful beings from other timelines. This world would vanish instantly!"

"We only wanted to eliminate Chen Xi and the mutants—not destroy the world," Eternity said, refusing to let Oblivion wreak havoc. "We are gods… meant to give hope…"

"I am nothing like you!" Oblivion snapped, then vanished in an instant.

The outcome shocked Eternity. Despite their agreement to cooperate, Oblivion left. In truth, he didn't want to participate either—he just wanted to run.

Death, focused on accomplishing the task, was displeased at everyone's behavior: "Perhaps from the start, we shouldn't have worked together. Acting separately might be better."

"Then act separately," came the agreement.

Thus, the alliance among the gods ended.

Chen Xi didn't even know that a single glance from him had caused such chaos and broken their cooperation. If he knew, he would have felt immensely proud.

A man capable of giving gods headaches!

Back on the mountaintop, Chen Xi felt the gods' gaze leave him. Calmly, he instructed his mutants on their next moves.

"The timeline is chaotic. Mutants skilled in restoring it, form a squad and act."

"Spatial wormholes have also caused chaos. Mutants who can handle these, form another squad."

"…."

As he finished giving orders, the remaining mutants moved out on their own, led by their squad leaders.

Dusk settled.

Those adept in spatial movement returned to their base quickly; flyers and speedsters dispersed.

With such powers at their disposal, their actions no longer required supervision.

"My dear, you must be tired. I've drawn a hot bath for you."

Qin Gelei gently wiped the dust from Chen Xi's face.

Chen Xi took her hand, stopping her, and smiled: "Shall we…?"

Qin Gelei blushed, nodding shyly.

An hour later, they emerged from the bath.

Qin Gelei's legs were weak; Chen Xi was still brimming with energy.

"After a long day, you still mess around?" Wanda complained, though her eyes betrayed curiosity and envy.

"I'll let you have him tonight, then," Qin Gelei teased.

"I won't!"

Wanda pouted, then brought the prepared food to the table.

Gwen, smiling, said: "If you don't want it, I'll take it."

"Why split up? Isn't it better together?"

Chen Xi had no intention of sleeping tonight.

The exhilaration from confronting the gods earlier still buzzed in his mind.

Hearing this, the girls had no objections.

They dined together, their eagerness evident from the speed of their eating.
