"Mom's taking action!"
Franklin Richards immediately covered his forehead as he said this. "Why would she do this? Does she really like someone called Chen Xi that much?"
Valeria looked at him. Clearly, her brother wasn't seeking her response—he just wanted someone nearby to listen to his complaints.
Realizing this, Valeria raised an eyebrow, then quickly shifted her gaze elsewhere.
She continued looking up at Asgard, her mind working through calculations at lightning speed.
Franklin Richards, who had been talking nonstop without much response, finally stopped and looked up, sneering.
"Seems like that person called Chen Xi has gotten into big trouble."
Big trouble?
Obviously, that wasn't the case at all.
Valeria didn't think so. Her mind quickly processed certain things and came to several conclusions.
From those conclusions, she even inferred what she was more suited to do in this world.
She turned around.
"Where are you going?"
Franklin looked at her, confusion clear in his eyes.
"I'm going to see Mom."
She didn't know where to find Chen Xi—after all, she wasn't a mutant—but as long as she found Mom, locating Chen Xi would be easy.
On this point, Valeria was very certain.
Thinking this, she moved with increasing speed.
In a comfortable and pleasant setting, Valeria sat across from Susan.
Perhaps at first, she had been a little uneasy, even guilty, but after sipping a bitter coffee, that discomfort melted away instantly.
"I should have thought of this sooner," Susan said, studying Valeria with an investigative but still gentle gaze. "You're not a mutant?"
"I'm just a normal human. Other than being smarter than some people, I'm no different from ordinary humans," Valeria said calmly.
"What do you intend to do? Since you've appeared before me, it's clear what you want to do isn't simple."
Susan said this with certainty.
"This world should also have Stark Industries, right?"
She could have gone on her own; she had the ability. But… she wanted Mom to know she existed. From any perspective, this was the right thing to do.
Susan had a feeling that this daughter from another timeline had motives beyond this, but since she hadn't stated them, Susan didn't press. She said calmly:
"You should know, your brother has always wanted to go after Chen Xi. Under these circumstances, I cannot introduce you. Doing so would be dangerous for both mutants and humans."
"You can trust me, or choose not to… but are you capable of making that decision, Miss Susan?"
Valeria did not call her "Mom." She needed to completely separate her mother from the woman in front of her.
Susan's expression was calm.
She had been by Chen Xi's side for some time. As his assistant, there were things she wasn't authorized to decide.
"I will report this matter to Chen Xi."
In the end, Susan said this earnestly. Valeria stood, not staying any longer.
"Then I'll await your results. I'll visit again in a few days."
With that, Valeria nodded to Susan and left.
Susan accompanied her to the door, watching her go with a complex expression.
When Valeria had fully disappeared from sight, Susan looked up at the blinding celestial palace overhead.
A lot had happened recently, and she wondered if there was anything she could do to help Chen Xi.
But Chen Xi had only asked her to deal with Franklin Richards; everything else was clearly under his control.
Thinking this, she didn't feel overly anxious.
…
Because of recent events, Jean Grey had developed a strong craving for power.
As an Omega-level mutant, she had a head start compared to other mutants, but she knew she could become even stronger.
And not just her—her close friends Wanda and Gwen shared the same desire. Their craving for power had reached an extremely intense level recently.
"No need to overexert yourselves," Chen Xi said, fully aware of what they had been doing.
"Chen Xi, aren't you worried? This time, it's gods."
The Norse gods from Asgard were formidable, and there were quite a few of them. A fight against them wouldn't be good news for anyone.
"Don't worry," Chen Xi said, completely unconcerned.
"There won't be a fight—their leader is just too righteous."
Speaking of which, Chen Xi thought of Thor and laughed softly.
A leader too upright wasn't bad for the people, but when carrying out certain tasks, a lack of flexibility could irritate some subordinates.
Although Chen Xi had only appeared briefly in the hall, he could tell some were not fully loyal to Thor.
Those people could be leveraged—and Thor's righteous nature made him suitable to exploit as well.
Chen Xi classified the recently appearing individuals as ones he could utilize.
Taking on the five gods would require more than just these people.
He was curious who else these gods might bring. He could sense the world growing more lively and chaotic.
Things were becoming increasingly interesting, and Chen Xi felt excited.
Whenever he encountered unexpected developments, he always felt anticipation.
This anticipation and excitement was unlike any sport, yet similar in its thrill.
He took a deep breath and pulled Gwen close.
Gwen's face showed a shy glow. "It's still daytime."
"Does it matter if it's day or night when there's something to do? Daytime is better—I can clearly see your beauty…"
He said that and carried Gwen into the bedroom.
