Chapter 40 - The Demon of the Belmonts

"Well, I think it's a considerable distance from where the townspeople live," Jonathan said as he took off his jacket.

"We thought you had died. It was unexpected to hear that a Belmont rose in the hierarchy of The Healing Church," said Terry, who apparently knew Jonathan well and about his unfortunate assassination.

"Really?" Jonathan thought while looking for a way to attack.

At that moment, Terry felt two figures watching him from afar and involuntarily fixed his gaze behind a vehicle in the distance.

"Ahh!"

A scream was heard in the background. However, neither Jonathan nor Terry said anything about it. But that didn't mean they weren't curious.

What was that? Terry got distracted for a single second. While he was thinking about it, he already noticed Jonathan running toward him.

Crack!

Fast! Terry thought without panicking. He chose not to defend or dodge but to raise his fist in response.

Attack against attack.

The surroundings cracked under the pressure Jonathan was exerting with his psychic power. This was the first time he had fought someone so strong; he was a little worried he might not be up to the task.

"All right then." Terry growled and threw his fist toward Jonathan, who did the same.

Boom!

While Enid was trying to tell Wednesday to move away, she peeked her head out and watched the whole scene, almost believing she was watching a science fiction movie.

Everything happened so fast. Terry and Jonathan were already face-to-face, while the former had his heavy fist ready to smash the latter into the ground.

No matter how tough Jonathan is, if he doesn't have supernatural abilities, he won't be able to do anything against him! Wednesday thought after seeing Jonathan get struck.

Boom!

A body crashed to the ground after a thunderous sound.

Enid's jaw almost dropped to the floor in shock. A memory flashed before her eyes.

Besides supernatural beings, there are people with special abilities who abuse their power to gain benefits that disrupt the world's order.

That kind of people made things difficult for the students and families studying at Nevermore when dealing with The Healing Church.

With his sunglasses shattered, Terry's face was disfigured by Jonathan's punch, which destroyed half his jaw. One of his eyes popped out of its socket, and his body crashed against some metal pipes. He could only spit blood after receiving that punch, which didn't even seem that destructive given Jonathan's size.

"Haven't you left yet?"

Enid was too focused on what had happened to Terry to notice Jonathan approaching her.

"Ah… That's what I told her…" Enid pointed with her free hand while trembling.

Jonathan leaned over and saw Wednesday in a trance. She seemed to be having another kind of special vision that was giving her clues about the near future.

"You have to get her out of here. That guy is a monster," Jonathan said, keeping his composure.

"Be careful!" Enid shouted before a hand roughly grabbed the back of Jonathan's neck.

"Don't mess with me!" Terry, with a furious expression, grabbed Jonathan's head and hurled him with superhuman strength into some metal rods on a construction site!

Jonathan was sent flying several meters forward, crashing loudly into the metal rods that pierced his body in several places.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

When the impact landed, a curtain of dust rose, covering Jonathan's collapsed body completely.

"A-ah, he's dead, the hunter, he's dead…!" Enid fell on her back.

I thought that man couldn't get up again after the blow that shattered half his face! How could he have so much strength!?

When the sound of the crash echoed, Wednesday, who was in a trance, murmured: "We need to move a little further away."

"Run?"

"No, he's not here for us," Wednesday said as she calmly walked down the middle of the street.

"Hm? You two…" Terry turned intimidatingly toward them. His eyes were now black, which made them both feel threatened.

"I threw that devil against the rods, I hope they pierced his heart."

"You'll need much more than that to kill him," Wednesday said in a defiant, unconcerned tone as she looked at that monstrous-looking man. "Are you allied with the dark entities?"

Terry seemed thoughtful and said: "No, I follow other orders…"

After saying that, Terry turned around to face the presence he felt behind his back, which was growing heavier.

"I'll deal with you later, so if either of you escapes, I'll make your death painful!"

Terry ignored the girls and frowned toward the clouds of dust.

"What are you waiting for?"

After saying this, a bloodied figure with a smile emerged from the dust, surprising Wednesday and the others.

"Fascinating…" Wednesday wanted to take pictures, but since she didn't have a phone, she asked Enid to do it.

Terry, on the other hand, looked far too monstrous not to think Jonathan had no chance of winning.

Everyone present saw Jonathan pull a metal rod out of his stomach.

The wounds on his face, arms, and legs healed in plain sight while he showed nothing but excitement on his face.

"I expected you to scare off those two unexpected guests. I should make you kill them with your own hands for dragging them into this mess. You really are an idiot, challenging that organization like this."

Jonathan underestimated Terry, who was on high alert. That healing factor was ten or twenty times faster than his own.

Terry grew excited and replied while walking forward. "What kind of monster have you become?"

"What's the name of the organization you belong to, and why are they hunting me?" Jonathan asked while wiping the blood from his face.

"I don't want to answer you."

As they got closer, Enid frowned.

"I smell iron!"

"What does that mean?" Wednesday asked, not understanding Enid.

"That he's a monster, but not entirely, a mix of many," Enid said, better understanding what Jonathan was facing.

Wednesday then looked at Jonathan and asked: "Is it the same with him?"

"No, not him. He smells human."

"Argh!"

When they both turned their heads, they saw Jonathan had ripped off one of Terry's arms, sending him flying like a comet into a pile of sand.
