Chapter 41 - The Thirst for Blood

"The hunter seems to have the advantage, he has the upper hand in the fight."

Boom!

"Eh?"

Enid watched in horror as Jonathan held Terry's torn-off arm.

Wednesday wasn't surprised; she simply stepped aside so as not to be affected by this life-or-death battle.

"Is he smiling? I told you hunters are lunatics," Enid said to Wednesday, a little less worried.

What kind of madman is Jonathan to enjoy something like this?

"Looks like you left me your arm. I don't need it, but it's really disgusting to hold."

Wednesday remained silent when she heard Jonathan speak. She didn't know if it was a side effect of the adrenaline in his body, but something seemed to change when he fought.

Jonathan turned around and walked toward his bag. At that moment, Terry's body, which was lying among the metal pipes, twitched.

Damn, damn, damn! Terry's thoughts were thrown into chaos by the sudden change in the situation.

Wednesday drew her own conclusions about who this man who had suddenly attacked Jonathan really was.

"He's still moving!" Wednesday shouted, recalling the sudden vision she had.

As if Jonathan hadn't heard, he kept pulling out a long knife from his bag. It was a military-grade blade, so large it looked more like a machete.

At the sight of it, Enid felt chills run all over her body. She couldn't stop remembering the horror stories other werewolves had told about hunters.

Wednesday, however, remained calm, fascinated by this visual spectacle she had never witnessed before.

The threat might just be that—a threat.

They were curious to see how far this encounter would go, but they never imagined the night would actually end with someone dead, at that very moment.

Neither of them had ever seen a hunter kill. For Wednesday and Enid, this was an unknown world until now.

In other words, they were simply outcast students from an academy.

Students who knew nothing about this dark side of the world.

So, when they saw Jonathan pull out a long knife while blood was still dripping from his body, Wednesday couldn't help but get excited.

Moments later, Terry drew their attention when he began to sit up and fix his dislocated jaw while his arm slowly healed, regenerating before their very eyes.

"So this is the devil himself…" Terry didn't feel like laughing at all.

I thought he would be weakened, but the reports lied…

Terry stood up. Now he had open wounds that still hadn't healed, which angered him so much that he wanted to tear that boy in front of him apart.

"I won't hold back anymore—you asked for this! I'm only using a fraction of my strength. Even though my power doesn't compare to that of a superhuman, it's still enough to kill you. I'll teach you the meaning of my nickname—the Duplicator."

Terry tried to intimidate Jonathan with words, but seeing they had no effect, he focused. In no time, his coat finally tore apart due to the swelling of his muscles.

Damn it, my body's going to hurt so much tomorrow! Even if I'll be four times stronger than my original strength, I'll also be four times weaker once this battle ends! Terry unconsciously reminded himself.

Tension rose as his torso was laid bare. His pants seemed elastic and held up well under the pressure.

Before, he looked like a successful bodybuilder, but now…

"It looked like you'd abused steroids before, but now it seems you ate the whole pharmacy," Jonathan said, not stopping his advance as he ran toward Terry at superhuman speed.

Meanwhile, Wednesday shouted: "Jonathan! His strength doubled, but once he gets tired, he'll be weaker than he is now!"

"Eh!? How did you know!?" Terry wanted to ask, but saw Jonathan closing in even while his body was still bulking up.

"You think a knife is enough? Not just my strength, but also my speed!"

Even with such a massive body, Terry moved as smoothly as before. His fist swung again, but Jonathan still dodged it like a ghost.

When Jonathan dodged, he twisted in the air and stabbed Terry in his side. However, the blade barely went halfway through his body—it was too difficult.

With Terry's thick skin and muscle, that stab was basically an incomplete cut.

"The resilience and defense of my body also doubled!" Terry continued his explanation as he caught up to Jonathan, who was backing away.

His left arm, thicker than a bull's leg, lunged toward Jonathan.

"Watch out!" Wednesday shouted, eyes wide. Despite her vision, there was nothing she could do to change the outcome.

But against all expectations, Jonathan simply dropped down, twisted around, and kicked the knife.

Clang!

"Argh!" Terry groaned in pain as the blade sank deeper into his body.

"Damn you! I'll rip your throat out!"

Hearing Terry's madness, Wednesday and Enid couldn't look away from the fight.

In no time, what they saw could easily be described as a bear trying to catch a small, fast hare.

Jonathan wasn't small, but compared to Terry, the disparity was massive.

Terry's face was turning red with rage as he started shouting even louder.

"Hunter! Stop moving! Didn't you forget I also have four times more stamina!? Do you think I'll get tired?"

While Terry spoke, Jonathan pulled the knife out with his telekinesis, letting blood spray from the deep wound on Terry's side.

"Argh! Damn you!" Terry groaned in pain and cursed. But soon he noticed something that made him panic.

This bastard is going to stab my spinal cord!

No matter how big the muscles and toughness, there are some parts of the body that are still vulnerable.

Terry, who had experience in close combat, knew this—and knew his weaknesses.

With no other choice, Terry forced himself forward.

To hell with this! Even if I end up in the hospital tomorrow, I don't care! I'll double my strength again or I won't be able to move my lower limbs for the rest of my life! No, this hunter is definitely going to kill me!

With that thought, steam rose from his body. Thoughts move faster than any physical action. No matter how agile Jonathan was, Terry's body reacted even faster.

In just a few seconds, his muscles swelled once more. Even his elastic pants looked like they would burst at any second.

Terry's muscles bulged out, wrapping around his arms, legs, and stomach to the point of making him practically invulnerable.

"Heh heh heh, let's begin…"
