[15:21] 27 March 1678, with Gherico
"We are definitely far from the objective…bruh," Abello said.
I am Gherico, a 26-year-old engaged in a humble job. I'm currently training for a little tournament that will be held in six months in Zahilia, the city where I was born. Right now, I am talking to two of my great friends who decided to team up with me for the tournament.
Abello is a 20-year-old sailor, pretty skinny, like me, but taller, which makes it more evident.
He has black eyes and short blond hair, with a little tail on his neck. He has a funny smile, probably due to his crooked canines, though; I'm not sure. He usually wears a blue T-shirt with a rainbow on it, white long pants, and some simple white shoes.
"Abello, you are the one who signed us up for this! You already know what I think about it," I replied. "Even a 6-year-old baby is doing better than us; what a shame," Orite added, looking at the child prodigy we were supervising that week.
The other one is Orite, 21 years old, a bit chubby, with black hair and brown eyes. He loves his hoodie, a gray one with a big ship in the back, some baggy jeans, and black shoes.
He also always carries his favorite hat, which is pretty common and has a skull on the front.
Now, you might be wondering, why the hell do they have a random baby with them? Well, a big and famous family decided we were experienced enough to help them since we were recommended as good trainers. Which is false.
"This kid learned everything from us in less than a week; we had to study for years to get to this point. Screw everything! Let's get some rest for now." Abello said, "You agree, guys?" We nodded and went to a nearby table, where we started playing a local card game.
"Abello, you have to watch out for the baby," I said in a protective tone. "Let me finish this hand;
I am feeling lucky today," Abello replied.
"Alright, I'll go watch him now; I'm having a bad feeling."
I went back to the place where we were training before, but there was no baby-prodigy there.
"Hey? Where are you?" I forgot the baby's name, which might be a problem. Hopefully, he is crying, so I can find him easily.
Entering a small forest, I noticed the trees were lush, a beautiful sight. I could feel some leaves moving, but I didn't pay much attention. Small rabbits were common in these little forests. I heard something that I would never expect to hear in that place: a wolf's howl.
A few seconds later, I was able to see it: a wolf with yellow jutting canines, an animal with lucid, white fur stained with something red. Then I realized that the wolf was growling at me, probably because I was in its territory. How was that possible? This wolf shouldn't be here; this is a safe place under the control of Zahilia's family.
While I was wondering and trying to give a reason for what was happening, the wolf instantly dashed, trying to bite me. Fortunately, I had my training equipment on, so I was able to pull my sword out and react to that attack.
Should I scream? Maybe my friends would notice me, or maybe they are already coming here; it's been a while since I was out here alone, or maybe they are still playing cards (Probably).
Now, I am stuck, fighting a stupid animal, searching for a baby whose name I don't even know.
I think it's time to end this chat with the little beast. I dashed forward, slicing one of its legs, making it run away.
"Hm, it's gone. I need to find this baby quickly before more wolves start to appear," so I called my friends. We stayed up all night and day, searching for that baby.
The sun was setting again, I've lost the cognition of time, and I didn't know how many days we've been searching, but this would be our last day here; our food supplies ran out yesterday, and we needed to depart today. We took a rest before starting the trip to Zahilia.
"Abello... What are we doing now?"" I asked. "We need to decide. Do we tell the truth or do we lie and make up something?" Abello suggested.
"This definitely isn't a good idea. The first thing they would think is that we sold that little baby. They know we need money, and nobody would believe us after all." Orite said.
The reason we were so worried is that the baby is part of a family, the Ensham family, and they are not likely to be happy to know that one of their members is lost.
"I believe we have to tell them just the truth. Perhaps they'll spare us, or with some years of reclusion, we can get away with it," I concluded, and since my proposal seemed the most convincing, we headed to Ensham to meet the famous family, hoping for a reprieve.
We got back to where we left our horses. "Let's play a round," Abello said. Since we only had two horses, we created a game to decide who was going to ride alone.
"ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS!" We all shouted. Abello and Orite both chose scissors, while I chose paper. "Always this dumb luck," Orite complained.
In this case, they got the same result, so they were going to ride together.
We got on the horses. "So, where do we replenish some supplies?" Orite asked. "Zahilia is the closest city from here. We should arrive there in half an hour if we keep a high pace," Abello said while giving the horse a little tap.
It was already dark when we arrived in the central Botanist Park of Zahilia. All inns were closed, so we left the horses near Abello's house. "We'll watch the horses while you go grab some food, Abello, but please be quick; I am starving!" I said.
I tried to distract myself from thoughts of food by looking at the wonderful park around us. Many lanterns were lighting the path through the park and the street. The number of blooming flowers always fascinates me during this season.
Zahilia is a port city, so it doesn't rely on tourism or nightlife activities.
It was quite deserted at that time, with only a few people passing by, probably returning from work late.
"Do you think we'll be able to convince them?" said Orite doubtfully. "Yea! Of course, we will!" I replied, trying to give him some hope since I could see him feeling down.
After Abello arrived with some cold food to share, we started eating. "What time do we leave tomorrow?" I asked between bites of my food. "7 a.m. should be fine," Abello replied.
After eating and returning the horses to Orite's stable, everyone went to sleep in their respective houses. However, the night was getting heavy.
