Chapter 3 - Chapter 1 Entrance Ceremony Part 2

In the afternoon, once the entrance ceremony is ende, I headed to to the academic building, following the map the Student Council members had handed out earlier in the auditorium.

The hallway buzzed with students, some chattering excitedly about clubs and schedules, others clutching their maps and trying not to look completely lost. I kept my eyes on mine, careful not to drift aimlessly, until at last I reached the building.

There, I completed the required paperwork for my student ID card.

Afterward, a clerk guided me to one of the school's computers to class registration. I slid into the chair, logged into the school's

website and began the process.

The website outline the structure clearly: four core subjects- English, Mathematics, Social Science, and Science were mandatory throughout all the four years of high school.

Alongside them, each student had to choose a subect a World Language and an Elective, both of which could be changed each semester.

After scanning the options, I chose Spanish as my World Language and selected Marketing as my Elective.

For freshman, the core subjects were already set:

Finally, I checked my class placement. Each freshman had been sorted into one of eight classes of forty students, organized by rank according to entrance exam scores. My name appeared in Class B, holding the 18th rank overall.

Class A: Ranks 1-10 and 290-320

I stared at the screen for a moment, my rank glowing back at me. Eighteen. Near top of my year.

For the first time in a long while, a small faint of spark flickered in my chest. Maybe, just maybe, this fresh start could actually turn into something more.
