Wednesday, August 30th
Two weeks passed since the start of school, and a steady routine had already taken shaped into my days- walking to campus with Emilia, attending classes, spending afternoon in the library, then heading home afterward. I had also kept up with my personal routine of running and excercise.
Today marked the final deadline for submitting nominations for the Freshman Council. By the end of the day, the Student Council would post the official list of candidates for each position on the freshman bulletin board.
Anyone still planning to run had to submit their nomination forms at the Student Council office before the start of the mandatory P.E. session.
During the short break before third period, I overheard a few classmates saying that Zoey Myers and Chloe Bryant from my class had already submitted their nominations- Zoey Myers for for President and Chloe Bryant for Tresurer.
At lunch in the cafeteria, while I was quietly eating in a corner, Emilia came rushing over, her face glowing with excitement.
"I did it!" she exclaimed, sliding into the seat across from me, "I just turrned in my nomination for Treasurer," she said, reminding me of the words she'd spoken on the first day.
"I'm running for Treasurer because I want to be part of the Student Council- this is my first step toward that goal," she explained, her voice brimming with determination.
"Back in middle school I served as Vice President, I really enjoyed being on the council- making decisions, organizing events, even helping set school policies that made students l school life enjoyable. I want to experience that again, but on a bigger stage like high school," she added proudly.
After a short paused, she continued, "Two students from my class are running as well- Owen Murphy for President and Jade Adams for Vice President."
I only nodded, feigning Interest. In the past two weeks, I hadn't even heard of them. My lack of interest in making friends had left me with no real social circle. Emillia remained my only source of information- walking with me to the campus, talking to me, even after I'd told her I wasn't interested in making friends.
As the end of the day drew near, groups of freshmen began to gather in front of the bulletin board, waiting eagerly for the Student Council to post the official list of nominees.
