Monday, September 4th
Classes carried on as usual from morning to until P.E., but after the mandatory session, the time normally reserved for club activities was set aside for the Freshman Council candidate speeches in the assembly hall.
I slipped into a seat near the back, preferring to stay unnoticed, and quietly watched as t the event began to unfold on stage.
Student Council Present Simmons stepped confidently to the podium, her presence immediately commanding attention.
"Good morning, freshmen and faculty," she greeted, her clear, steady voice carrying through the hall. "I'll be serving as today's moderator for the Freshman Council candidate speeches."
Her gaze swept across the eager faces in the crowd. "Let's get started."
Sha turned toward the side of the stage where candidates were waiting.
"Our first group of speakers will be the candidates for Class President, she announced, her eyes resting on the trio preparing to take the stage.
"Please welcome our first candidate, Owen Murphy from Class A."
Owen Murphy approached the podium, adjusted the microphone, and began his speech.
"Good morning, everyone. My name is Owen Murphy, and I'm running to be your Freshman Class President.
I know we're all still adjusting to finding our way- navigating campus, meeting new people, maybe even feeling a little shy. But we're all in this together. My goal is to make our freshman year more fun and more connected. Whether it's planning events, organizing activities, or simply being someone you can talk to, I'll be there.
Freshman year is just the beginning- let's make it a year of great memories worth keeping.
Vote Owen Murphy: friendly, focused, and ready to represent you."
Polite applause followed as President Simmons thanked him and introduced the next candidate.
"Now let's welcome our next candidate, Zoey Myers from Class B."
Zoey Myers strode up to the stage with confident smile, her energy instantly captivating the room.
"Hey, everyone! I'm Zoey Myers, and I'm running for Class President because I love leading- and because I want this year to actually be exciting.
Let's be honest- this year doesn't have to be just tests and homework. I want to bring in events and ideas that you actually care about. Got suggestions? I'll make sure your voices are heard and make them happen.
Vote Zoey Myers: fun, fairness, and fearless leadership."
The audience responded with approving applause as she stepped down. Present Simmons gave her a nod of thanks before introducing the final candidate.
"Let's welcome our final candidate for Class President, Alan Moreno from Class E."
Alan Moreno walked up with the microphone before a calm, steady demeanor, adjusting before speaking in a measured, confident tone.
"Hello, everyone. My name is Alan Moreno, and I'm running to be your Class President.
Starting high school is a big adjustment, which is why I believe our class needs a leader who is not only enthusiastic, but also dependable. I value clear communication, organized planning, and making sure everyone feels included, no matter their interests.
Vote Alan Moreno: steady, supportive, and
strong leader."
Aoplause filled the hall once more as Present Simmons smoothly transitioned to the next group of candidates: those running for Class Vice President.
