Chapter 10 - Chapter 3 Nominations Part 3

I stood there on the street, watching Emilia's figure quickly disappearing from view.

Walking home alone, I headed straight to kitchen to tell my aunt that a friend would be coming over later.

The moment I told her, her face brightened with delight. "So, you've finally made a friend again," she said warmly.

"It's not like that," I replied quickly. "She just lives at the end of the street, and for past two weeks, she's been walking with me to and from school- no matter how many times I told her she didn't have to. Today she's coming over because she's running for Freshman Council Treasurer. She wantes to run some ideas by me- what slogans her banners should have and the kind of speech she's is planning to give on Monday."

"Is that so?" my aunt said with a smile.

"Then I'll prepare dinner for her. Your uncle won't be home tonight- he's working late- so it'll just be the three of us. I'll set dinner in your study room so you two can eat while discussing her campaign."

At 7:00 p.m., Emilia arrived at my house, brimming with excitement. I led her to my study room, where my aunt already set out dinner moments ago.

As we ate, Emilia eagerly laid out her campaign plans- how she wanted her banners to be stand out, and how she hoped her speech would come across as both confident and inspiring.

"You'll vote for me right?" she asked after sharing her ideas. I didn't answer her. After another hour, she finalized the slogans for her posters and banners.

When she left, she called back cheerfully, "I'll be heading to school early tomorrow to put up posters and banners on bulletin boards and classroom entrances."

The next day morning, as I stepped into the freshman corridor, the transformation was striking. The walls, bulletin board, and classroom entrances were plastered with colourful banners and posters for every candidate in the election.

The entire freshman class buzzed with chatter about the nominees- debating who seemed the strongest, who had the catchiest slogans, and who actually had a chance at winning.

The days passed quickly, and before long it was Monday, September 4th- the much anticipated day of the candidate speeches.
