The clubroom was quiet, save for Akeno Himejima, who greeted Rias and Draconis with a gentle smile.

"Good morning."

She turned to Draconis, concern flickering in her eyes. "How are you feeling? Any better?"

"Thanks for asking. The President patched me up," Draconis replied. He glanced around, noticing Koneko Toujou was nowhere to be seen. He lowered his voice, "Where's Koneko?"

Akeno's smile softened. "She went out last night to investigate that Fallen Angel, then got called for another contract. She'll probably be late."

"You passed out a lot of flyers yesterday too," Akeno teased. "Maybe you'll get a summons soon!"

Draconis shrugged. "Here's hoping." Honestly, he wasn't expecting much. Flyers like those—people probably just glance and toss them aside.

Rias, still thinking about last night's attack, pressed on. "Any new info on that Fallen Angel?"

Akeno shook her head. "Not much. With her dead, all we've got is leftover divine energy. If we run into another servant from her peerage, I'll recognize the signature."

Rias sighed and turned to Draconis. "Looks like I can't get revenge for you just yet. If we ever meet her master, I'll make sure they regret hurting you."

Draconis chuckled. "President, what's there to be upset about? I got a little banged up, but that Fallen Angel paid with her life."

Rias laughed, conceding the point. "You're right. Maybe they should pray not to run into us again."

Just then, a shimmer of magic announced Koneko's return.

"Back already? Did the contract go well?" Akeno asked, her tone light.

Koneko nodded, a rare smile flickering on her lips. "Successful."

"Congrats—and thanks for last night," Draconis said, genuinely grateful.

"No problem. Here, for you…" Koneko handed out breakfast, cream bread for everyone.

Rias accepted hers with delight. "Cream bread! Nice, thank you, Koneko~"

As they ate, Draconis's mind wandered to contracts. Did devils really have to rely on deals with humans to grow stronger? Wasn't that a bit… dependent?

He voiced the question. The room fell silent.

After a moment, Rias sighed. "Of course we know. But we don't have a choice anymore. It's not just us devils—angels are in the same boat. Why do you think they're so desperate for followers, spreading faith everywhere?"

Akeno continued softly, "Pure-blood devils are almost extinct. Same goes for pure angels and Fallen Angels. All three factions need humans to survive now. That's just how things are."

Draconis let the irony sink in. Mighty devils and angels, reduced to relying on fragile humans. But really, wasn't this their own doing? Endless wars, endless losses…

He didn't comment further. If contracts were the only way forward, then so be it.

Class time approached, and the four headed to their classroom. The school day passed in quiet routine.

But after the final bell, just as Draconis was about to resume flyer duty, a surge of magical energy rippled around him.

"What…?"

He stared at the purple-black currents swirling around his body, puzzled. Rias and the others looked over, surprised.

"A contract summon?" Rias blurted.

Draconis's eyes lit up. "This is a summon?"

Akeno grinned. "Absolutely. Someone's calling you. Don't just stand there—answer! I'll prep the teleportation circle."

Draconis snapped to attention, quickly responding to the call. So those flyers actually worked.

"Thanks, Vice President."

"Good luck," Koneko said, her encouragement soft but sincere.

Draconis smiled. "Wait for good news."

Akeno's magic flared, a teleportation circle glimmering beneath him. In a flash, Draconis vanished from the clubroom.

A few minutes earlier.

The door to a luxury apartment clicked shut as Mai Sakurajima stepped inside, pineapple bread in hand and a hint of worry shadowing her face.

Her invisibility was getting worse.

Just now, trying to buy bread, the shop clerk hadn't noticed her at all. She'd had to grab the bread herself and leave money on the counter before leaving.

It had been like this for a while. To test if anyone could still see her, Mai had even donned her bunny girl outfit and wandered the streets. No one so much as glanced her way.

She tried to stay calm, but panic nipped at her edges. Maybe someone outside the school could see her? After all, yesterday she'd run into a boy who'd noticed her.

After hanging up her bunny suit in the bathroom, Mai sank into the bathtub, letting the hot water soothe her nerves. As she zoned out, her gaze landed on a flyer tucked among her clothes.

She remembered—this was the one that boy had slipped her yesterday. Curious, she picked it up, eyeing the magic circle design.

Occult Research Club… Could this thing really grant wishes?

Just as the thought crossed her mind, the flyer glowed with a sudden burst of purple light.

Mai jumped, startled. What was happening? The pattern was actually glowing.

Her calm nature kept her steady, but then—

Splash!

A figure materialized out of thin air, dropping straight into the bathtub and sending hot water sloshing over the edge.

Draconis sat there, soaked and stunned, staring at his drenched clothes. What the hell…

He looked up—and found himself face-to-face with a very familiar girl, staring back at him in silence.

They locked eyes, the moment stretching.

Draconis: "…"

Mai Sakurajima: "…"
