"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 190: Gentlemen Talk, Not Touch—But Sampling the Flavor Isn't So Bad

The moment Nodoka realized where her thoughts were heading, she panicked. She scrambled to redirect her attention, but the idea kept echoing in her mind, impossible to shake.

Draconis Yi had cracked open Pandora's box in her heart, and she knew it.

To claim she didn't have feelings for him? Nodoka couldn't even lie to herself. She'd spent so long suppressing it, telling herself over and over that he was her sister's boyfriend.

But if demons could have harems, like he'd joked, maybe she wasn't out of the running after all?

Who wouldn't fall for a guy this considerate, this strong? If even Mai Sakurajima was into him, how could anyone not be?

Nodoka invoked the "Mai Sakurajima Law" again—if Mai liked him, he must be universally appealing.

The more she thought about it, the deeper the temptation became. Afraid she'd give herself away if she lingered, Nodoka quickly made her exit:

"It's getting late, I should head home."

"I'll walk you back," Draconis Yi said softly.

"Mm…"

He escorted Nodoka to her door, waiting until he saw her mother greet her inside. Only then did Mai finally let out a sigh of relief.

"Let's go home too."

Mai looked worn out—she'd been running on empty all day.

Draconis Yi didn't hesitate; he bent down and swept Mai off her feet in a princess carry.

"You've had a long day. Rest for a bit."

With that, he took to the sky, Mai cradled in his arms.

Mai looped an arm around his shoulder, letting her head rest against him, her body melting into his. The wind was fierce up high, but Draconis Yi conjured a barrier that turned the gusts into a gentle, warm breeze—soft as a summer night.

A faint smile played at Mai's lips—sweet, content. She closed her eyes, nestled against him, and drifted off almost instantly.

She didn't even make it home awake.

She really was exhausted.

Mai always took her work seriously, never let her studies slip. Pressure weighed on her, but she never complained. With Draconis Yi, she could finally relax—let go of everything and just enjoy the peace.

No matter what happened, he'd handle it for her.

When they got home, Draconis Yi saw Mai sleeping soundly and couldn't bear to wake her. He settled onto the sofa, still holding her, content to do nothing but keep her close.

Even in silence, just holding her felt perfect.

He kept her in the most comfortable position, used a touch of magic to pull open the curtains, and watched the night deepen outside. The stars were stunning.

Two hours slipped by. At ten o'clock, Mai's lashes fluttered—she woke up.

Just two hours, and she felt her energy returning, though her body was limp from such deep sleep. She didn't want to move at all.

She found herself in Draconis Yi's arms on the sofa, him gazing at the stars, lost in thought. She felt a little guilty.

"Sorry, I dozed off. Why didn't you wake me?"

"You looked so peaceful—how could I?" Draconis Yi smiled and kissed her lips.

The kiss sent a thrill through Mai, and she leaned in, returning it.

"Wasted two precious hours," she said ruefully after their kiss.

"I don't think any time with you is wasted."

"For me, that's two hours of date time gone. I really wanted to go out with you." Mai admitted, cheeks coloring, her rare vulnerability making her all the more adorable.

Draconis Yi's heart fluttered, and he laughed softly.

"Mai, I love you."

"I know."

She answered with her usual calm, as if he'd said something utterly ordinary.

But her eyes darted away, betraying her shyness.

Draconis Yi wasn't about to let it go. He grinned and, feigning a musing tone, murmured:

"If possible, I'd love to hear you say that to me."

"That's way too embarrassing, so… no."

"Huh? What's embarrassing about it? There's no one else here."

"Even if I don't say it, you get it, right?"

"…"

Draconis Yi was speechless.

Clever Mai—she'd set a trap.

If he said he understood, he'd never hear her say those words. But if he said he didn't…

Total lose-lose.

Girlfriend logic ran deep.

Mai flashed a mischievous grin, delighted at having outplayed him.

"You're so mean."

"But someone likes it this way, so I can't help it." Mai beamed, pleased with herself.

Draconis Yi chuckled. He really did love her.

Unable to resist, he pressed Mai gently onto the sofa, kissed her deeply, then trailed kisses along her cheek to the sensitive spot behind her ear.

Mai blushed furiously, clutching Draconis Yi's back.

He smirked to himself.

Gotcha, little trickster.

He kissed her ear softly, feeling her arms tighten around him.

Mai always got extra sensitive at moments like this.

When he started kissing her neck, Mai jolted awake and protested:

"I haven't showered yet…"

"You smell wonderful."

"Stop it. I danced all afternoon—I'm all sweaty."

Mai insisted on a shower.

Draconis Yi pursed his lips, then scooped her up by the waist.

"Come on, let's get you washed up."

"Eh? N-no way, right?"

"You've been working hard all day. Let your husband take care of you tonight."

Draconis Yi didn't miss a beat, carrying Mai straight to the bathroom.

Inside, after a flurry of sounds, Draconis Yi worked up a lather with the bath sponge, gently scrubbing Mai's back.

Mai gathered her long black hair to the front, sitting with her back to him, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

"Such a pretty back—shame not to do a little cupping therapy," Draconis Yi teased.

Mai rolled her eyes.

"Just scrub my back, and keep your hands to yourself. No funny business."

"Of course. Gentlemen talk, not touch," Draconis Yi laughed, almost to himself. "But sampling the flavor's not so bad, either."

Mai: "…???"
