"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 193: Koneko's Breaking Point
Rias didn't mess around. Draconis Yi had only been gone a day or two, yet the house had been transformed—expanded so much that, honestly, it could house a small army, not just a handful of girls.
But Rias had another surprise up her sleeve.
"Father was going to send fifty maids over. But knowing your habits, I turned him down."
Draconis Yi blinked. Fifty maids? That was next-level.
He pictured the Gremory family's legendary staff—maids who could cook, clean, and fight, each one worth ten ordinary people.
"No way. I'd turn into a complete slacker." He waved his hands, laughing. No matter how high his status climbed, he'd never get used to being pampered. If he did, his life would probably outdo any human tycoon in sheer decadence.
Rias grinned. "I knew you'd say that." She kissed him on the cheek, earning jealous glances from Asia and Akeno, both biting their tongues out of respect for their King.
A lazy voice drifted in from outside. "Hey, where is everyone? You guys, focus up during training."
Draconis Yi and the others headed out to the courtyard. There, Azazel—the Fallen Angel Governor—was sprawled atop the pavilion, sunbathing like he owned the place.
"Oh, you're back, kid." Azazel called down, not bothering to move.
"Just got in. Sensei, why are you hanging out at my house?" Draconis Yi asked, keeping his tone light. Ever since Azazel had taught him magical body tempering, Draconis Yi accepted him as his advisor—though Azazel's usual attitude was anything but serious, his teaching was always top-notch.
Azazel shrugged. "Sirzechs dumped a pain-in-the-ass job on me. Gotta keep you all in shape." He glanced at the girls. "Back to training, or you'll fall behind Draconis Yi."
Everyone stiffened at that, then quickly said their goodbyes and scattered to practice.
Draconis Yi didn't interrupt. Instead, he leapt up to join Azazel on the roof.
Azazel gestured. "Show me your holy-demonic power?"
Draconis Yi smiled. Ever since he mastered Absolute Dominion, even Azazel couldn't sense his strength unless Draconis Yi revealed it on purpose.
He let his power flare. Azazel whistled. "Damn, you're getting stronger by the day."
"Your training method works wonders, Sensei."
Azazel chuckled. "Just a lucky fit for you, really. But I almost feel sorry for the next generation of devils. They've got a monster to contend with now."
Draconis Yi shrugged. "Not like anyone's itching to pick a fight with me."
Azazel smirked. "Wait till you hit the Underworld. You've snagged the future head of the Gremory clan, and got a Holy Sword with special meaning from the Maou. That's enough to put a target on your back for every young devil out there."
Rias, busy studying tactical layouts nearby, flushed at Azazel's words. "Th-that doesn't have anything to do with me…"
She always kept her cool, but around Draconis Yi, her composure cracked.
He caught her eye and smiled softly. "Guess I'll have to properly greet any genius who wants to challenge me—for Rias's sake."
Rias's gaze turned syrupy, overflowing with affection.
Azazel laughed. "That's the spirit! Proud to call you my student." He floated up, waving off the group. "I'll leave you to it. Go make some babies, you've already got Rias, right?"
Draconis Yi deadpanned, "That's hardly your business, Sensei."
Azazel grinned. "Can't a teacher care about his pupil's happiness? Kids these days…"
Draconis Yi and Rias both rolled their eyes. Azazel's reputation for being incorrigible was well-earned—legend said he fell from grace because of his obsession with carnal pleasures, especially Gabriel's legendary beauty.
Once Azazel left, Draconis Yi joined the others for training. He'd unlocked auto-cultivation mode, so now everyone else had to work twice as hard just to keep up.
Being the weekend, they trained late into the night. Draconis Yi took over kitchen duty, whipping up dinner for the whole group.
After finishing, he went to round everyone up. "Xenovia, Asia, that's enough for today."
"Got it." The church girls stopped, and he headed off to fetch Akeno and Rias. Finally, he spotted Koneko Toujou, still running laps with a magically weighted artificial mountain strapped to her back.
"Koneko? That's enough—you've been at it all day."
"I… can keep going…" Koneko's voice was strained. Her training load was brutal, even by Draconis Yi's old standards.
He frowned. Something was off with her today.
Was she troubled by something?
He reached out with his senses—her magic was chaotic, unstable. Not good.
"Koneko, your magic's acting up. Stop now."
She gritted her teeth. "I… can… keep going…"
BOOM.
Before she could finish, her magic snapped—completely out of control. Something else surged inside her, pushing her straight to the edge.
Her clothes vanished instantly, shredded by the wild magic. The next second, fresh wounds bloomed across her pale skin.
