"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 195: What's a Little Carnage Between Friends?

Another hour slipped by. Koneko's breathing finally evened out—her body had weathered the storm. She slept now, utterly spent, as if she'd fought through a war.

Draconis Yi cradled her gently, scanning her with magic to make sure every last trace of chaos was gone. Only when he was certain did he let himself relax.

"She's fine now. Just asleep," he murmured to Rias.

Rias exhaled, relief flooding her features. "What happened? How did her magic spiral out of control?"

Draconis Yi explained Koneko's overtraining, but something still bothered him. "She seemed troubled. And I sensed senjutsu power in her—what's up with that?"

Rias sighed, gazing at the silver-haired girl in his arms. Her voice softened. "Koneko's a nekomata—a yokai cat. But she's not just any nekomata; she's a nekomata-sho, the strongest kind. She was born able to wield senjutsu and yokai power."

Draconis Yi blinked, surprised. "She's never used any of that, though."

Since he'd joined Rias's peerage, Koneko had only relied on her Rook powers—brute force and defense, nothing mystical.

"She has a past she'd rather forget. So she stopped using those abilities," Rias said, gently stroking Koneko's hair. Her eyes brimmed with affection—the same warmth she showed all her peerage, though Draconis Yi knew she reserved something extra for him. He was her treasure, after all.

Everyone here carried their own story. Draconis Yi didn't pry further; he simply sat quietly, keeping watch over Koneko.

"You must be exhausted. Get some rest—I'll stay with her," Rias offered, concern in her voice. She knew he'd burned through plenty of power tonight.

He shook his head. "I'm fine. It's nothing, really. You should rest, Rias. I've got this."

She smiled, moving closer, and pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead before wrapping both him and Koneko in a soft embrace.

"Don't push yourself too hard. We all want to help share your burdens, you know. Maybe Koneko feels that way too."

Draconis Yi found his face buried in Rias's chest, the view both dazzling and distracting.

"Share my burdens?" he echoed, a little slow on the uptake.

Rias's fingers threaded through his hair, her voice tinged with guilt. "You're growing so fast, it's hard to keep up. But everyone wants to stand beside you, to fight with you. It's just… we're not strong enough yet. That's why you end up facing everything alone."

"So Koneko feels that way too?" he said, glancing at the sleeping girl and letting out a helpless smile. "Honestly, I'm only pushing myself so hard to protect you all."

"How could we ever accept letting you shoulder everything by yourself?" Rias whispered, the ache in her words clear. She'd blamed herself for her own weakness more than once.

He smiled softly, brushing a stray lock from Koneko's cheek. "Alright, I'm not trying to show off. If you all get stronger, I'll be thrilled. But let's not have nights like this again, okay?"

"Silly girl," he added, voice gentle.

Morning came, and Koneko finally stirred. After a night's rest, she was fully recovered. The first thing she saw was herself—naked, tucked between Draconis Yi and Rias.

She remembered last night—Draconis Yi's magic had shielded her, helping her regain control.

"Thank you…" she whispered, watching Draconis Yi sleep. Her expression softened.

"No more of that, okay? Train, but don't overdo it," Rias's voice came from beside her. She was awake now, too. "And you owe everyone an apology."

In the living room, Koneko bowed her head, voice small but sincere.

"I'm sorry for worrying everyone."

Akeno smiled warmly. "We didn't do much. If anyone deserves thanks, it's Draconis Yi and Asia."

Asia beamed, radiating a holy light. "No need for thanks. I'm just glad you're okay, Koneko!"

Ever since Michael had let her pray again, Asia's aura had grown so pure she seemed more angel than devil.

Draconis Yi grinned. "Honestly, sleeping with Koneko in my arms was pretty great. Soft, warm, smelled nice—I slept like a baby. So skip the thanks."

His words drew amused glances from Rias and the others. Koneko blushed furiously—rare for her.

She liked Draconis Yi, sure, but this kind of closeness was new territory.

Rias's voice turned teasing—and just a bit dangerous. "So you're saying my body isn't comfortable to hold?"

Akeno chimed in, her smile sweet but loaded. "Ara ara, that's not something we can just ignore."

Asia and Xenovia both fixed him with expectant looks. Draconis Yi found himself speechless.

What was with this sudden jealousy?

But he'd never backed down from a challenge. What's a little carnage between friends?

He shrugged coolly. "Hmm, I haven't done a proper comparison yet. Maybe tonight I'll test it out."

Rias's eyes sparkled with confidence. "Good. I'm sure I'll come out on top."

Akeno's smile was all sweetness—and menace. "Ara ara, I think my odds are even better."

Asia and Xenovia jumped in, not about to be left out.

"A-Asia will do her best too!!"

"Tonight, let's try making a baby together!"

Draconis Yi: "…"

These girls were relentless.

He just rolled his eyes, stretched, and changed the subject with practiced ease.

"Anyway, it's getting late. Time for school. Maybe we'll get a new summoning request today."
