Chapter 12 - Hatake Kakashi

The girl walked further and further away under Ye Lan's gaze.

Ye Lan finally reluctantly withdrew his gaze and looked down at the forehead protector in his hand.

After a long time, Ye Lan murmured, "Miss Kurihana from the Land of Water, huh? Heh, that's a nice name. I believe we'll meet again."

He shook his head with a smile, gradually calming his somewhat restless heart. Ye Lan carefully put the forehead protector into his inner pocket, then smiled freely and strode towards the village.

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!"

Ye Lan had just taken a few steps when the sound of air being torn apart came from ahead.

Ye Lan instinctively looked up and saw a face very familiar to him quickly approaching.

Ye Lan was also somewhat excited when he saw who it was.

Soon, the person landed directly in front of Ye Lan.

The newcomer didn't rush to speak, instead sizing Ye Lan up and down. Ye Lan returned a smile, looking at him calmly, but his eyes were constantly flickering with excitement.

After a moment, as if he hadn't found anything of note, the person smiled and extended his hand to Ye Lan, saying, "I'm Hatake Kakashi, a Jonin of Konoha. The Third Hokage already knows about you and has specifically sent me to receive you."

Ye Lan was as excited as if he'd had a shot of adrenaline upon seeing the big shot he admired. He had been quite a fan of Hatake Kakashi when he watched Naruto—the reputation of the Copy Ninja was widely known.

Ye Lan spoke excitedly, "I'm Ye Lan, you can call me Lan. By the way, how did you know I was here?"

Kakashi said lazily, "Oh, this? After the Third Hokage gave me the mission, I went to the Anbu and asked Ibiki for some of your physical characteristics. Also, there was a faint smell on Ibiki that didn't belong to him. I determined that it was your scent, so I summoned Pakku to find you."

After saying this, Kakashi didn't forget to add, "Pakku is my Ninja Dog."

Of course, Ye Lan already knew this. Wasn't Pakku that pug?

Of course, he only dared to grumble inwardly. If he said it out loud and Pakku heard him, the ninja dog would definitely bite him to death.

While Ye Lan was pondering, a system prompt sounded in his mind: "Ding! Host has triggered a side quest: Become Kakashi's student and a member of Team 7. Task success reward: Obtain the Uchiha Kekkei Genkai. Task failure penalty: Deprive learned ninjutsu and reclaim the copy ability."

Ye Lan wasn't worried at all about the system's task; in fact, he was somewhat looking forward to the reward it would give him upon completion.

The Uchiha's Bloodline Limit, huh? If used well, it was a more overpowered ability than a bug in the world of Naruto.

Looking at the boy in front of him, who seemed not only strange but also remained silent, Kakashi couldn't help but ask, "Lan, do you have any other questions?"

"Oh, no, nothing..."

Ye Lan was suddenly brought back to his senses.

Kakashi nodded and then said, "Next, I will send you to the Ninja Academy to learn the most basic ninjutsu. You need to graduate from the Ninja Academy to become a real ninja. After that, you will carry out missions in the village. Do you have anything you need to prepare before enrolling?"

Ye Lan heard Kakashi's words and immediately shook his head.

How could he possibly go to the Ninja Academy? If he actually went, how would he ever be able to become Kakashi's disciple?
