Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

Chapter 20: Run

The blood mist hadn't yet dissipated.

Tap.

Footsteps came from behind and to the side.

Danzo, who should have been turned into pulp, stood unharmed atop a pile of rubble. His breathing was rapid, cold sweat beading on his forehead. Gasping heavily, he suddenly tore off his right sleeve, no longer caring about concealment.

Densely packed Sharingan covered his entire arm.

Ten crimson pupils rotated eerily on pale skin, two already permanently closed—their gray-white orbs ugly as burned charcoal.

"This is..." Yu's eyes flashed with surprise, then transformed into even more intense excitement. "Ha... I see."

Danzo's face was dark as water, his single eye bloodshot. He never imagined he'd be forced to such extremes.

The surrounding ROOT survivors who saw their leader's Sharingan-covered arm all turned pale with horror. Some even instinctively stepped back half a pace—they'd followed Danzo for years but had never seen such forbidden items!

Danzo glanced at his subordinates, breathing heavily, his single eye bloodshot: "As long as I can protect Konoha, what does this price matter!"

Yu only smiled more brilliantly: "Excellent. Then let's calculate..."

He slowly raised his hand as the magnetic field began twisting wildly: "How much is your dog life worth!"

Crack... crack crack...

Invisible magnetic lines wrapped around Danzo like garrotes, each one cutting deep into flesh. His bones groaned under unbearable stress, the Sharingan on his right arm spinning madly from the pain.

"It hurts, doesn't it?" Yu watched the twisting, deforming body like appreciating artwork. "A rat hiding in shadows like you—what right do you have to speak of protecting Konoha?"

Danzo's single eye bulged from its socket, blood continuously spilling from his mouth, yet he still forced out a roar through gritted teeth: "For... Konoha... my death... means nothing..."

"Ha!" Yu suddenly burst out laughing. "Then die already!"

The magnetic lines suddenly tightened.

BANG—

Blood mist exploded as chunks of flesh splattered like raindrops across the pale faces of surrounding ninja.

"Lord Danzo... is dead again..." an ANBU member trembled as he retreated.

"Where's Lord Jiraiya? Why hasn't Lady Tsunade arrived?!" a ROOT ninja shouted in breakdown.

"Lord Jiraiya went out for research... he hasn't returned to the village in three months..."

"Lady Tsunade was drinking until dawn last night... the medical team just found her..."

"What about the elite jonin..."

"They're all on missions! The fastest would take..."

Despair permeated the ruins. All the ninja present didn't know what to do—their attacks were completely ineffective against this monster. They could only watch helplessly as Danzo was tortured and killed repeatedly.

Yu simply flicked the blood from his hands, narrowing his eyes in pleasure: "Looks like I can still play seven more times."

He casually waved at the surrounding ANBU: "Don't be nervous. I'm waiting for your reinforcements."

His tone was as casual as discussing what to eat for the next meal.

Swoosh—

Danzo's figure materialized once more atop the rubble. Another Sharingan on the ROOT leader's right arm had gone permanently dark. His face was deathly pale, despair floating in his single eye.

Before coming here, he'd still been dreaming of becoming Hokage...

Now, all his trump cards were exposed, he might truly die here.

"I don't believe it... I don't believe it!" Danzo suddenly erupted, his hands forming seals at lightning speed. "Wind Style: Vacuum Serial Waves!"

Sharp wind blades tore through the air, only to twist and dissipate the moment they touched Yu.

Yu shook his head in disappointment. "Truly pathetic."

He casually snapped his fingers.

"AHHH—!!"

Danzo suddenly let out a piercing scream as his right arm began twisting and deforming at a visible rate...

Like being slowly wrung into a pretzel by invisible hands.

The sound of shattering bones was clearly audible, Sharingan bursting one after another. The surrounding ANBU ninja retreated in terror, several vomiting on the spot.

"Now this is interesting," Yu smiled as he appreciated Danzo's misery.

Crack! Crack!

Tooth-aching sounds of breaking bones continued as Danzo's remaining limbs began twisting at unnatural angles. His left leg spiraled like a pretzel, his spine dislocating joint by joint, especially between his legs...

"AHHHHH—!!"

Piercing screams cut through the sky as Danzo's entire torso began collapsing inward. His internal organs were compressed and deformed by invisible force, blood gushing from all seven orifices.

The surrounding ANBU had long since turned pale, several collapsing to the ground. They'd never witnessed such cruel torture—this wasn't combat but one-sided slaughter.

"Too noisy."

Yu suddenly frowned, his five fingers clenching shut!

BANG!

Blood mist exploded as Danzo's final body burst apart like a crushed tomato, meat chunks and bone fragments spattering across the surrounding ruins.

No one noticed—

Deep in Yu's pupils, that trace of human warmth was quietly fading away. In its place came something cold and pure...

On this blood-reeking battlefield, a tall figure finally stumbled onto the scene.

"This... what is..."

Tsunade's golden hair was somewhat disheveled, her beautiful face still flushed with the remnants of a hangover. But when her gaze swept across the scattered limbs and pools of blood, her amber pupils contracted sharply—

"Ugh..."

She suddenly covered her mouth as her stomach churned. Ever since her brother and lover died, she'd suffered from this damned hemophobia.

"Lady Tsunade! The Third is here!" an ANBU member urgently led the way.

Tsunade forced down her discomfort, stumbling to the center of the ruins. When she saw the barely breathing Sarutobi Hiruzen, her drunkenness instantly cleared by half.

"Old man?!"

She knelt down, medical chakra instantly covering her hands. But the diagnosis made her heart sink—most bones shattered throughout his body, severe internal bleeding. These injuries... no wonder the other medical ninja didn't dare move him.

"Summoning Jutsu!"

With a puff of white smoke, a massive slug appeared on the battlefield. The smaller slugs that split off immediately enveloped the Third Hokage's body, beginning to secrete healing mucus.

"Tsunade..." Sarutobi Hiruzen suddenly opened his clouded eyes, blood continuously spilling from his mouth. "Quick... run..."

"Cough... cough cough..." With each word Sarutobi Hiruzen spoke, he had to gasp for breath. "Listen to me... that guy... is a monster..."

His pupils were beginning to dilate, yet he still gripped Tsunade's wrist tightly: "His power... doesn't belong in this world at all... take the villagers... and run..."

Tsunade's entire body shook as she looked toward the center of the battlefield in disbelief.

That black-haired youth was leisurely strolling about while Danzo's newly resurrected body twisted and deformed in his hands once again. Each torture session was like playing a game, relaxed to a bone-chilling degree.

"You've got to be kidding..." Tsunade's voice trembled slightly. "How could a brat possibly..."

But when she saw the Third's caved-in chest and Danzo's scattered remains everywhere, all her doubts stuck in her throat.

Another piercing scream came from the distance, the youth's delighted laughter echoing through the ruins.

The slug's mucus continuously repaired the Third's injuries, but couldn't stop the cold sweat seeping from Tsunade's back.
