Evening settled over their small apartment.
Haeun sat at the kitchen table, picking at the dinner Aunt Nayoung had prepared for her.
It was soft tofu stew with rice and banchan that would have been perfect if the atmosphere hadn't been so tense. Since her aunt had forbidden her from going to school today, Haeun had been cooped up in the house, going from playing games, to sleeping, to thinking about Minho's words to her.
Then the pattern would repeat itself.
Hyunbin still wasn't home, probably in some late classes, which left Haeun and Aunt Nayoung in a cold war of silence.
Ever since their argument last night about Haeun refusing to quit her job at Goyung Garden, neither of them had spoken a word to each other.
Aunt Nayoung had given up trying to convince her, but the disappointment radiated from her like heat from a stove. She sat in the living room, working on her laptop with the television playing some drama at low volume, pointedly ignoring Haeun's presence.
