Chapter 34 - The Rogue Sanctuary

Kira's POV

I couldn't move.

My body was frozen, watching the cosmic creature wearing Jake's face manipulate my father into breaking the younger version of me all over again. The fake Marcus was being the perfect father - everything I'd dreamed of for ten years.

Which meant the fall was going to hurt a thousand times worse.

"We have to stop this," I whispered to Zander, but my voice came out broken and small.

"How?" Zander's hand found mine, squeezing tight. "We can't even touch that timeline. We're just watching."

The younger me was crying happy tears as fake Marcus hugged her close. "I'm so sorry, sweetheart. I was wrong to blame you. Mira's death wasn't your fault."

My stomach twisted. Those were the words I'd needed to hear at eighteen. The words that might have saved me from ten years of running and hiding and thinking I was worthless.
