After they were all seated, two staff members arrived in the room, and one of them had a sheet of paper in his hand.
He walked towards the front and faced the twelve candidates.
"You all have done a great job by coming this far, and it's finally time for the final results. The names I'll be calling will stand up and wait outside the room. My friend here will take you to meet with the officials after all the names are called out." The staff member finished as he pointed towards his buddy, who was standing next to him.
Everyone nodded their heads at the instruction as they waited, eagerly for the results.
Seeing this, the staff member finally raised the sheet of paper in his hand and glanced through it. A sudden silence appeared in the whole room as even the sound of breathing became hard to discern.
"Victoria Lemon,"
A woman got up with a confident smirk and was guided out of the room the next moment. The room turned silent once again as the heartbeat of the remaining twelve in the room rose.
"Alex Benjamin,"
With an expression of disbelief, a man who was wearing a blue shirt stood up and soon walked out of the room. He was the same person who was all drenched in sweat after his interview earlier.
"Samantha Trucks,"
Samantha stood up the very next moment with both jubilation and hesitation as she glanced at her side towards Katy, who was staring at her with a smile on her face.
Katy nodded towards Samantha when their gazes met. Seeing this, Samantha nodded back towards her with an expression that told her not to lose hope as she raised her hand and made a fist.
"You got this!" She cheered for Katy and soon left the room.
The staff member then read the next name.
"Tom Bollocks,"
Seeing that even the next name wasn't hers, Katy's heart tightened, and she was slowly coming to an acceptance that today just wasn't her day.
"And for the last name of the day…. Katy Perkinson"
Hearing the name all her being was waiting to hear, Katy felt as if a load that had been weighing on her back suddenly lessened, and a gigantic wave of relief flooded her whole body.
She held her urge to cry out in gratefulness as she soon got up from her seat and made her way outside.
"Katy!" Samantha hugged her tightly the moment she saw her outside and started jumping in excitement.
"We made it! We made it together!" She exclaimed, not in the least bothered about others' gazes.
"Yes…yes, we did," Katy answered as a single tear drop managed to trickle down her cheeks.
After their little reunion was over, the staff member soon got out of the room and told the five of them to follow him.
They entered the lift and were taken to the fourth floor.
"The higher-ups are waiting for you in the meeting room," The staff gestured to them to enter the double door in front of them.
Victoria took the lead and opened the door as the others followed behind her. Soon, the five of them were standing side by side and were facing four people who were sitting behind a wide table in front of them.
All five of them were familiar with one face among the four higher-ups, as their interviews were taken by them.
"Congratulations to the five of you," the woman who had taken Katy's interview took the lead and said, "the fact that you're here means that you have exceptional talent in the field of acting. It might be a great thing in other agencies, but at Gior, that's the minimum requirement to get selected,"
The woman's face hardened when she finished her words and continued, "We've made our decision and selected you, and now it's time for you to make a decision."
As she finished her words, she placed her hand on a few bundles of sheets that were stacked beside her.
"What you see here is your contract application. Once you sign this, you'll be contracted to us for six years without exception.
If you try to terminate it in between, then that would cost you 5 million Draks as a termination fine, along with additional charges depending on our expenditure on you during that time period. So how many of you are still willing to sign this contract?" the woman asked with a sly smile on her face.
(A/N: 5 million Draks = 50,000$ ~)
'It's as if she doesn't want us to sign them at all,' Katy thought to herself. There were several doubts in her mind right now, as what was happening right now was quite different from the way it had unfolded in her previous life.
At that time, in this room, there were only three men, and this woman was absent.
However, what was the same was the fact that they were asked whether they wanted to sign the contract or not. Katy had decided not to sign the contract after being influenced by Victor's thoughts back then.
This time, she tightly clenched her fists and became the first among the five to step forward and say, "I'll be signing it."
Seeing this, Samantha too cleared up her mind and stepped forward, "Me too."
They were the only exceptions, as the other three were seriously considering whether to sign it or not.
"I'm sorry, but the contract terms are too harsh for me, so I won't be signing it," Victoria stated her mind.
"Me neither," The man named Tom joined in.
Seeing the two, the blue-collar man too gained confidence and stepped back from signing, "I also find the conditions too harsh."
After all, five of them had made their decision, the woman didn't seem affected by the result and with a smile, she said while gesturing towards the exit, "Those of you who are not interested may leave now."
A few seconds later, Katy and Samantha were the only candidates left in the meeting room.
"Now that we'll be working together, let me introduce myself first," the woman smiled brightly and said, "I'm Tracy Watson, the director of Gior Entertainment Agency."
'The Director?!!' An incredulous expression appeared on Katy's face the very next moment.
