Chapter 4 - Anger of Mother's

Yasaka's golden eyes didn't waver as she folded her hands in her lap.

"Let's say the Yokai are talking about them," she said carefully, "and it doesn't sound good."

Lily raised a brow but didn't interrupt. She knew Yasaka well enough to catch the deliberate omission of Nate's name. So instead, she picked up the thread smoothly.

"And we already know their reputation. So I'll ask plainly—have any of your people received Yokai from the Naberius?"

For a moment, silence hung over the call. Serafall's expression darkened, just faintly, the steel mask slipping as her memories stirred.

"…Yes," she admitted at last, her tone clipped. Her fingers tapped once against the armrest of her conjured chair. "Two, actually. Sisters."

Lily's lips pressed into a thin line. Yasaka's tails twitched, betraying her unease.

Serafall leaned back slightly, eyes narrowing. "Why? What exactly have you heard?"

Serafall exhaled softly, almost as if letting go of a weight she didn't want to carry.

"Their names are… Kuroka and Shirone. Nekoshou. Rare even among Yokai, rarer still among Devils."

Yasaka's eyes narrowed, her tails flicking in restrained agitation. "Children?"

"One still is," Serafall answered, her voice harder now. "Shirone. She's been placed into the custody of a High-class family — Rias Gremory's, if I recall correctly." Her gaze flicked downward for a moment, almost ashamed. "The elder sister, Kuroka… she's another matter. The Naberius branded her a criminal for killing her own master. That was the official report. But…"

Her words trailed off. Lily tilted her head slightly, sharp eyes catching the hesitation.

"But you don't buy it."

Serafall's lips pressed into a thin line. She didn't confirm it, but the silence was damning enough.

Yasaka broke it with a quiet, steady voice. "If the Naberius are experimenting on Yokai… if they've been using them…"

Lily crossed her arms, finishing the thought for her. "Then it isn't just a Yokai problem. It's a Devil problem too."

The magical girl façade Serafall always carried was gone now — what sat in front of them was the Leviathan, the Maou, the Devil King. Her violet eyes glowed faintly as her aura pressed through the screen.

"Tell me everything you've heard," she said, voice calm but edged with steel.

Lily's tone turned deadly serious. "That actually explains it… Yasaka, check on the Nekoshou forest. Now."

Without hesitation, Yasaka formed a complex hand seal, her tails fanning behind her. Golden foxfire wrapped around her palm, weaving into a scrying mirror that shimmered in the air before them. The surface rippled—then stabilized.

The image nearly made all three women stop breathing.

Flames. Massive, raging flames tearing through the once serene forest. The trees burned like torches, black smoke clawing at the night sky. And beneath the crackle of fire… they heard it.

Screams.

Raw. Panicked. Agonized.

Shapes darted through the inferno — smaller figures, Nekoshou women and children scattering like prey, only to be struck down by shadowy figures in black robes and noble Devil crests gleaming on their armor.

Yasaka's pupils shrank, her voice low and dangerous. "They… they're slaughtering them."

Lily's fists trembled, her knuckles whitening. "Those bastards. They didn't even wait for us to act…"

On the other side of the screen, Serafall rose slowly from her chair. The cold fury radiating from her shook even the transmission spell. For once, the carefree magical girl was nowhere to be seen — only the Maou Leviathan, deadly serious.

"They dare…?" she whispered, and her killing intent leaked through the link like ice.

Yasaka closed her eyes, jaw tight. "This is no longer rumor. It's genocide."

They both Cut the call, Serafall in the other end shocked, as she cleared her head.

As Yasaka and Lily teleported there, meanwhile in tbr first.

The hooded figure dragged another Nekoshou down, blade slick with blood.

From behind him, one of the armored Nobles scoffed, voice dripping with disdain.

"Do you think this is a bit much? They're barely worth the effort."

Another Devil sneered, licking his blade clean.

"Tch. Don't be naive. One of their filthy kind dared to kill a High-Class Devil. This isn't punishment. This is justice."

But then—

The wind howled. A sharp drop in temperature swept the battlefield, chilling bone and blood alike. The fire raging through the forest hissed as sheets of ice crept across the trees, devouring the flames. In seconds, the inferno froze solid before cracking and collapsing into steam.

The Devils stiffened. The hooded killer froze mid-step.

A shadow fell over them.

Then a roar.

Not just a roar — but the furious, ancient cry of a Nine-Tailed Fox.

Golden flames ignited the battlefield, forcing the Devils to stagger back, eyes wide. Towering above them, her tails thrashing with primal fury, was Yasaka in her true form — majestic and terrifying, her killing intent suffocating.

And upon her back stood Lily, eyes blazing with wrath, blades of pure spirit energy manifesting in her hands.

The two women radiated fury in perfect harmony.

Yasaka's voice thundered like an executioner's verdict.

"How dare you touch them."

Lily raised her blade, her tone cold enough to cut flesh.

"Not one of you leaves this forest alive."

The Devils, so smug and self-assured moments before, now stared up at the pair with dawning horror.

Lily snapped her wrist, her Yokai Watch shining like a beacon in the frozen forest. Five medals gleamed between her fingers as she slammed them into the device one after another.

"I call on you, my friends—!"

The Watch spun, its gears clicking with sharp finality. A surge of spiritual energy blasted outward.

"Corptain!"

"Lie-in Heart!"

"Shadow Venoct!"

"Toadal Dude!"

"Gashadokuro!"

Circles of light burst open across the battlefield, each one summoning forth a towering ally.

Corptain, spectral and grim, his blade already drawn, eyes glowing with ghostly fire.

Lie-in Heart, mane blazing with courage, his roar shaking the ground as he stood at Lily's side like a guardian lion.

Shadow Venoct, coils of shadow twisting around him like living serpents, his gaze sharp and merciless.

Toadal Dude, grinning with his usual cocky swagger, cracking his knuckles, water and earth swirling around his fists.

Gashadokuro, the massive skeletal titan, rising from the earth with an unholy rumble, its sockets burning red.

The Devils staggered back as the sheer presence of the five Yo-kai shook the air. The forest floor split beneath Gashadokuro's step, trees bending as if bowing to the monstrous skeleton.

Yasaka smirked, tails flicking behind her as she glanced at Lily.

"You never do things halfway, do you?"

Lily raised her blade, standing proud atop Yasaka's back, her voice ringing like a commander on the battlefield.

"Not when children are screaming."

The Devils, once arrogant, now found themselves staring down a Nine-Tailed Fox, a warrior mother, and five legendary Yo-kai.

For the first time that night, fear drowned their cruelty.

The arrogant Devils sneered at first, but that confidence died instantly when Yasaka's tails flared like living flames, each one radiating crushing power. Her aura alone bent the trees and shattered the frost beneath her.

Yasaka: "You dared… to slaughter children under my watch?"

Her voice thundered like a goddess's wrath.

The nearest Devil tried to counter with a wall of flame, but Shadow Venoct was already there, his shadow-serpents wrapping around the spell and devouring it whole.

Shadow Venoct (hissing): "Pathetic."

He lashed out, the serpents tearing the Devil's arm clean off in a spray of black fire.

Before the Devil could scream, Lie-in Heart pounced, his blazing mane a comet of fury. His wooden training sword may have been gone, but this was his true blade—a strike filled with courage and burning spirit. The Devil was launched into the treeline, bones shattering on impact.

Corptain raised his blade high, ghostly power swirling around it. With a booming cry, he cleaved the battlefield in two, a wave of spectral energy cutting down another Devil before the fool could even draw breath.

One Devil tried to retreat, flying skyward—only to be snatched midair by Gashadokuro's massive skeletal hand. The titan squeezed, bones crunching like twigs, before tossing the mangled body aside like trash.

Toadal Dude (grinning): "Yo, mind if I make this flashy?"

He slammed his fist into the ground, water and earth spiraling upward into a crushing torrent that swept through three more Devils, burying them under stone and flooding their fire with choking mud.

Lily leapt forward, blade gleaming with her own Spirit Bond energy, slashing through the last Devil's shield like paper. She pressed her sword to the Devil's throat.

Lily (voice sharp as ice): "Give me one reason I shouldn't end you here and now."

The Devil's eyes darted between the Nine-Tailed Fox looming behind her, the army of Yo-kai flanking her, and the corpses of his comrades scattered across the burning forest. His lips trembled.

But Yasaka stepped forward, her aura pressing down like a mountain, and answered for him.

"You have no reason. You brought this upon yourselves."

Her tails lashed forward, piercing the Devil clean through. The body crumpled lifeless to the ground.

Silence fell over the ruined clearing, broken only by the crackle of fading flames and the whimpers of rescued Nekoshou children huddling nearby.

Lily lowered her blade, breathing heavily, her Yo-kai standing around her like an impenetrable wall. She glanced at Yasaka, her voice cold.

"They messed with the wrong mothers."

Yasaka nodded, her eyes softening only when she looked at the frightened children.

"From now on… they're under our protection."

The prophecy child had warned them. And tonight, the Nine-Tails and the Yokai Queen had made sure no one would forget it.
