Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: New World, New Profession - IRS Employee!

A month later.

Mount Everest, at the summit.

This was a time of year when the weather on Everest was not considered severe, but it was by no means suitable for climbing. Unless you had a death wish, no one would choose to climb at this time. Howling snowstorms enveloped the area, making it almost impossible to see anything.

Just then, after a muffled thud, a figure "flew" up and landed steadily on the summit! In the distance, the rising sun, a golden ray, pierced through the dense clouds, just as this person landed, and it entered his eyes.

At this moment, in this place, only he was there to appreciate this beautiful scenery.

"Consider it a good omen," Morin said, grinning. He sat down on the ground and closed his eyes.

After receiving his share of the reward, the two million dollars were counted as labor income for his [Mechanic] profession, and his experience points increased by two hundred.

Then, the [Mechanic] profession went from intermediate to advanced, and he received a tenfold bonus increase!

A tenfold increase in the upgrade requirements meant a tenfold increase in the reward.

Over the past month, Morin had first taken care of his businesses, selecting the people he had his eye on to manage them.

After everything was settled, he bid farewell to Toretto, Gisele, and the others, and came to Mount Everest alone. Of course, when he said goodbye to Toretto and the others, he only said that he wanted to leave and find some remote place to challenge himself in survival or experience a secluded life.

He didn't tell them his real purpose.

Although Morin could come back, he learned from the system that every time he traveled to a world he had already visited, it would cost him ten experience points!

So, unless it was absolutely necessary, Morin wouldn't be coming back in the short term.

Speaking of which, after his [Physique] reached over a thousand points, Morin clearly felt that he was no longer human. ...Why does it feel like I'm insulting myself?

But no matter what, Morin felt that he was getting closer to becoming like Superman. He had climbed and hopped his way up here. With a solid rock to push off of, Morin could jump over ten meters.

His [Physique] had now reached that level. It was precisely because Morin was going to use this method to reach the summit that he chose this time of year—when the weather was bad and no one would be climbing.

This way, even if he caused an avalanche, no innocent people would be harmed, and he wouldn't be filmed or anything.

Although Morin didn't really care about such things, it was more convenient if he could avoid them.

"It's time," Morin murmured, watching the sun rise completely.

With a thought, Morin chose to use his one available world-opening opportunity. In an instant, Morin disappeared from where he was and appeared in a starry sky!

"No matter how many times I see it, it's still breathtaking..." Morin looked around and sighed. He was in the middle of a galaxy, surrounded by a sky full of stars!

Morin wasn't sure if some kind of power was protecting him or what, but he could breathe normally and survive without any pressure.

[Randomly selecting a world...]

A system prompt appeared in Morin's mind, and the sky full of stars seemed to be stirred by an invisible hand. The starlight danced. Finally, one star was left behind by the invisible hand, turning into a small dot of light and coming to rest in front of Morin.

[World Selected - Spy Film World (Mission Impossible, The Bourne Identity, Taken, Kingsman, etc.)]

[Please choose - a travel destination]

[Please choose - a new profession]

Morin's eyes went wide. This was amazing! There was this kind of operation? A spy film world? Wouldn't that mean starting with a nuclear bomb crisis every day?

"Choose..." Morin had already done this once, so he wasn't completely lost. He thought for a moment, then reached out and tapped the new star. "Destination, Langley, Virginia, USA."

"As for the profession..." Morin looked at the options provided by the system. "CIA Agent, FBI Investigator, NSA Agent? Hmm... Heh heh, I'll choose to be an IRS (Internal Revenue Service) employee!"

That's right, completely ignoring the first three seemingly legitimate options, Morin chose the fourth, a profession that seemed completely unrelated to espionage: an IRS employee. However, his choice was not without reason.

The system didn't offer a choice of time, and Morin wasn't sure why. But based on his last experience, the system would place him almost a year before the main plot began, and he wondered if it would be the same this time.

[Location confirmed, new profession selected. Traveling begins.]

The small dot of starlight in front of Morin gradually brightened until it completely engulfed him! In the blink of an eye, when Morin came to his senses, he was on a commercial street, holding a plain satchel with no markings.

His clothes didn't attract any attention from the people around him. He had been wearing a regular down jacket while climbing Everest, and it was apparently winter in Langley as well, so most of the people around him were also wearing down jackets.

There was nothing out of the ordinary about Morin's attire.

Stepping forward, Morin headed toward a phone store he had just seen, while also checking the bonus he had just received from his new profession.

[IRS Employee - Novice (0/10)

(What do we in the IRS do? Let me tell you, we catch the people the FBI can't, we get the intelligence the NSA can't, and we deal with the people the CIA can't! No matter what, in America, only death and taxes are eternal!)

Title Bonus:

[Tax Law Expertise] (A craftsman must first sharpen his tools if he is to do his work well!) [Novice Spy Skills] (Sometimes, you need these to find enough evidence when dealing with a special kind of tax evader!) [Novice Weapon Handling Skills] (As an IRS employee, this is a skill you must master!)]

In an instant, all that knowledge was completely ingrained in Morin's mind. With his current [Intelligence], accepting such a massive amount of information at once didn't cause him any discomfort.
