Chapter 192 - Chapter 3: The Tech Geek

Therefore, Emiya decided to recruit Sherry.

Unfortunately, at the current stage of the plot, there was still some time before Haibara Ai would appear. So Emiya chose to remain in this world and wait patiently until she showed herself. He was confident that, with his abilities, recruiting Haibara Ai would not be difficult.

Besides Haibara Ai, there were several other people in this world who possessed talent worth recruiting.

For instance, Vermouth-someone who constantly wavered between loyalty and betrayal within the Black Organization.

Then there was Koizumi Akako, Kaito Kid's classmate and the legitimate heir to red magic.

Haibara Ai's older sister, Akemi Miyano, was another candidate. While her abilities were unremarkable, recruiting her would undoubtedly strengthen Haibara Ai's morale.

He could also consider recruiting Kaito Kuroba, better known as Kaito Kid. Though his combat ability wasn't outstanding, and his instant disguise skills overlapped somewhat with Vermouth's, he was still a world-class phantom thief. That alone made him useful.

Makoto Kyogoku was another option. His strength was undeniable-four hundred consecutive victories without a single loss. He could dodge rifle bullets, smash stone pillars barehanded, and even with his vision blocked, catch BB pellets fired by eleven people simultaneously before defeating them all in an instant. No matter how one looked at it, this was the level of a true master.

Such talent was worth recruiting.

As for others, Emiya couldn't think of anyone else at the moment, but there was no rush.

Oh-there was also Professor Agasa.

That genius inventor was an absolute must.

While he couldn't compare to Yuki Nagato, he was still an extraordinary mind. Even if he wasn't immediately needed, he could be invaluable in the future.

And unlike Haibara Ai, whose appearance time was uncertain, or Vermouth, who was still overseas, Emiya knew exactly where Professor Agasa lived.

So without hesitation, Emiya headed toward 2 Chome 22 Beika-cho, Tokyo.

With the precise address in hand, he hailed a taxi. About half an hour later, he arrived at Professor Agasa's house. After tossing the driver a gold ring as payment, Emiya stepped out and rang the doorbell.

A moment later, an elderly voice came through the intercom.

"Excuse me, who are you looking for?"

"I'm looking for you, Professor Agasa," Emiya replied with a smile.

"I don't believe I know you."

"That's fine. I know you."

"...Is there something you need?"

"Something that could change your life," Emiya said seriously.

"Would you be interested in having a talk?"

There was a brief silence.

"...Please, come in."

A click sounded, and the door unlocked automatically.

Emiya pushed it open, passed through the courtyard, entered the house, changed into slippers, and walked into the living room.

At the same time, Professor Agasa's voice came from a corner of the room.

"Please wait a moment. I'll be right there."

Emiya nodded, sat down on the sofa, and waited.

A few minutes later, Professor Agasa descended the stairs, wearing a white lab coat.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," he said apologetically.

"I was in the middle of a small experiment."

"It's only been a few minutes," Emiya waved it off.

"I don't mind."

"What would you like to drink?" Professor Agasa asked.

"Tea, coffee, or a soft drink?"

Professor Agasa suddenly paused.

Wait... wasn't that supposed to be his line?

"I-I'll make you some coffee," he said quickly.

"No need."

Emiya extended both hands.

A cup of coffee appeared in his right hand, and a bottle of cola in his left.

"What would you like to drink?" he asked.

Professor Agasa rubbed his eyes hard.

"H-how did you do that?"

"Psychic power," Emiya replied calmly.

"More specifically, Imaginary Creation. I use mental energy to create objects."

"...You're joking, right?"

"Unfortunately, no."

Emiya set the coffee down. A cup of black tea appeared. Then green tea. Toothpaste. An electric toothbrush. Wafers. Chocolate.

In moments, the coffee table was covered with various small items.

"Do you still think this is fake?"

Professor Agasa felt his worldview crumble.

"So... psychics really do exist."

"Not only psychics," Emiya added.

"There are magicians as well."

Professor Agasa fell silent.

After a long pause, he finally asked,

"What do you want from me?"

Emiya nodded.

"Simply put, I want you to work for me."

"...For you?"

"Yes."

Professor Agasa didn't refuse immediately. Instead, he asked,

"What exactly do you want me to do?"

"To be honest, I'm not entirely sure."

"...Huh?"

Emiya smiled, opened a bottle of cola, and took a sip.

"You understand the concept of talent reserves, right? I don't need your help right now, but I'd like to recruit you under excellent conditions. When the time comes, I hope you'll assist me."

Professor Agasa thought carefully.

"That doesn't sound unreasonable."

"I'm not an unreasonable person," Emiya said confidently.

"Then what about day-to-day work?"

"Do whatever you want," Emiya replied.

"I won't interfere. But when I need you, I expect your full attention."

"So I have freedom?"

"Exactly."

Professor Agasa nodded.

"Then... what conditions are you offering?"

"How about an opportunity to communicate with an alien?"

"...What?"

"There are aliens in this world?!" Professor Agasa jumped to his feet.

"Not this world," Emiya said.

"Another one."

He paused, then added,

"My name is Emiya. I'm a psychic-and a traveler from another world. One of my abilities allows me to move freely between worlds."

Professor Agasa stared at him.

"You're... not joking?"

"Of course not."

"...You're really from another world?"

"As real as it gets."

"Can I go to another world too?"

"If you want, we can go right now."

"Then let's go."

Emiya snapped his fingers.

In an instant, Professor Agasa found himself standing in a bustling city.

"Welcome to Orario," Emiya said.

"The Labyrinth City. A place where gods have descended, and humans, elves, dwarves, and other races coexist."

Professor Agasa stared at his surroundings in disbelief.

After confirming he wasn't hallucinating, he forced himself to calm down.

As they walked through the streets, he asked,

"How many worlds have you been to?"

"About thirteen so far," Emiya replied.

"Yours is the thirteenth."

"What other worlds?"

"That's a long list. Ancient China. Taisho-era Japan. A world with a Demon King and a hero. A monster-infested world..."

"What about the alien world?" Professor Agasa asked eagerly.

Emiya took out his phone and showed him a photo.

"This girl is an alien?" Professor Agasa stared.

"Her name is Yuki Nagato. She's a humanoid interface created by the Integrated Data Entity."

Professor Agasa understood-and was even more shocked.

"What is an Integrated Data Entity?"

"A non-corporeal data lifeform born from the universe's total information."

"...That's incredible."

"They can even rewrite the world."

Professor Agasa grew thoughtful.

"If they're data lifeforms, that explains it."

Emiya smiled.

"So-interested?"

"I must join," Professor Agasa said decisively.

He knew exactly what a world-traveler represented.

And communicating with a data lifeform? No scientist on Earth could refuse that.

"Excellent."

Emiya handed him a smartphone.

"This phone connects you directly to the Great Mogami. If you encounter difficulties, ask her."

"The Great Mogami?"

"Don't you think Nagato is cute?"

Professor Agasa shook his head.

"I don't really understand tech geeks."

Emiya snorted.

"You are a tech geek. What are you talking about?"
