Chapter 193 - Chapter 4: A Different Art Style

Emiya took Professor Agasa on a short tour of Orario.

In the afternoon, they had a proper meal at the Hostess of Fertility.

After that, they returned to the Conan world.

The moment Emiya set foot back, his phone rang.

He answered it.

"Is that you, Emiya-san?" Natsume's voice came through.

"Natsume? Do you need something?" Emiya asked.

"No, nothing important," Natsume said. "I just wanted to thank you."

He explained that he had seen the phone when he returned home last night.

He wanted to call immediately, but he was worried Emiya might already be asleep.

So he waited until noon.

There really was nothing urgent.

He just wanted to say thank you.

Emiya laughed.

"It's nothing. I gave it to you so we could stay in touch."

"If you ever run into trouble, remember to call me."

"I will," Natsume replied without hesitation.

After chatting for a bit, Emiya had a thought.

He directly transmitted the Nen cultivation method to Natsume.

Whether he practiced it or not was up to him.

Emiya was sure the cat spirit by Natsume's side had heard it too.

He didn't pay much attention to that.

As long as it stayed by Natsume's side, it wouldn't cause trouble.

Afterward, Emiya heard the cat spirit's voice.

"Natsume, give me the phone."

Natsume hurriedly said, "Emiya-san, Cat-sensei wants to talk to you."

"Alright."

The phone changed hands.

"You're as generous as ever," Cat-sensei said. "Giving something like this away so casually."

"It's just a cultivation method," Emiya replied. "Not a big deal."

"In any world, this kind of method is enough to create a powerful family or a martial tradition that lasts a thousand years," Cat-sensei said.

From the phone, Emiya heard Natsume exclaim.

"Huh? It's that valuable?"

"Idiot," Cat-sensei scolded him.

"This alone could turn the Natsume family into a force comparable to the Tsuchimikado family. Maybe even stronger."

Emiya laughed.

"Don't scold him too hard. In other worlds, things like this aren't exactly rare."

"That's only in other worlds," Cat-sensei replied.

"Still, I'll accept this favor."

"If you ever need help, you can call me."

"Then I'll rely on you," Emiya said without refusing.

"That's all," Cat-sensei said, and handed the phone back.

Natsume's voice returned.

"Emiya-san, I really don't know how to thank you."

"It's fine," Emiya said calmly.

"Don't put too much pressure on yourself. I have plenty of things like this."

"And I might need your help someday."

"If that happens, I'll definitely help you," Natsume said seriously.

"I promise."

"Then I'll be at ease."

Emiya ended the call.

Professor Agasa, who had been listening nearby, spoke up.

"I heard that cultivation method too. What should I do?"

"Consider it a bonus," Emiya replied.

"Practice it or not, that's your choice."

"Are there any benefits?" Agasa asked.

"Longevity. Slower aging. A sharper mind. Better health."

"You won't get sick easily. You won't go senile."

"You can run faster, become stronger. Things like that."

"I'll practice it," Agasa said immediately.

Emiya nodded.

"If you don't understand something, just ask."

"I will."

Even though Emiya felt he had explained everything clearly, Agasa still nodded just in case.

"By the way," Emiya added, "I just arrived in this world. I don't have a place to stay."

"Any recommendations?"

"Then stay here," Agasa replied without hesitation.

"I have plenty of rooms."

Emiya didn't bother refusing.

"Alright."

From that day on, he lived there.

In the afternoons, Emiya would go to the Orario Dungeon.

He brought groups of monsters back to the abandoned castle outside Axel.

First, he had the Dragon of Greed devour their life force.

Then, using this world's rules, he absorbed parts of their souls to level up.

In Emiya's view, leveling itself wasn't important.

What mattered were the Skill Points gained after leveling.

That was his real objective.

With Skill Points, he could instantly learn the skills of this world.

That was far more valuable.

Without Skill Points, he could still learn them.

It would just take too long.

And it wouldn't be as satisfying.

That was why he chose such an efficient method.

Once he was full, he returned to the Conan world.

There, he slowly refined the life force inside his body to strengthen his Nen.

After absorbing so many monsters, his Nen had reached a terrifying level.

It wasn't as high as Chairman Netero's.

But it was close.

Still, Emiya wasn't satisfied.

Netero had already been old when he appeared.

His strength was less than half of his peak.

Which meant Emiya was still far from reaching Netero's prime.

Even so, Emiya wasn't discouraged.

He had countless worlds as backup.

Surpassing Netero was only a matter of time.

The real problem wasn't the monsters.

It was Emiya himself.

Rapid growth had its drawbacks.

His Nen had grown too fast.

As a result, his control had noticeably declined.

If this continued, it could lead to instability or even regression.

So for the next few days, Emiya stopped absorbing life force.

Instead, he focused entirely on control.

Bit by bit.

Until his Nen responded like an extension of his own body.

A few days later, Emiya came out of seclusion.

He went to the living room and saw Professor Agasa watching TV.

Emiya walked over.

"What are you watching so intently?"

"Oh, you're out," Agasa said, startled at first.

"I'm watching the news."

"The Cat's Eye sisters struck again last night. They stole a famous painting."

"...Cat's Eye?" Emiya paused.

"Wait. Who did you say?"

"The Cat's Eye sisters."

"...You mean Rui, Hitomi, and Ai Kisugi?"

Agasa was stunned.

"How do you know their names?"

Emiya didn't answer.

He sat down in front of the TV.

The news replayed footage of the theft.

A police officer named Toshio Utsumi appeared on screen.

Emiya understood immediately.

These were the Cat's Eye sisters he remembered.

But then another thought followed.

This was supposed to be the Conan world.

Why were Cat's Eye characters here?

The art style didn't even match.

Emiya rubbed his temple.

This probably wasn't a pure Conan world.

Just like Shizuka Hiratsuka's world, this was likely a composite world.

So what else was mixed into it?

"Give me a computer," Emiya said.

"I need to check something."

Agasa was curious but didn't ask.

He handed Emiya a laptop.

Emiya began searching.

He quickly found several interesting pieces of information.

Kaito Kid, who had been inactive for a long time, had recently resurfaced and committed a major heist.

That wasn't surprising.

Kaito Kid and Conan belonged to the same universe.

Their rivalry was practically iconic.

Next.

Lupin the Third had recently stolen a diamond worth tens of millions in France.

Also not surprising.

Conan had crossed paths with Lupin before.

Then came something unexpected.

The Phantom Thief had stolen a famous painting from a Tokyo museum a few days ago.

The curator had resigned.

It was major news.

That was the real confirmation.

The Phantom Thief belonged to a completely different series.

Which meant Emiya's suspicion was correct.

This wasn't a single-world setting.

If phantom thieves existed, then detectives would too.

And sure enough, he found them.

Kindaichi was there.

And also a female police officer named Ryoko Yakushiji.

Another character unrelated to Conan.

At that point, Emiya was certain.

This world was a large-scale composite.

A world of detectives and phantom thieves.

Fortunately, he didn't find any trace of a certain world-famous detective named "L."

If that person existed here, things would get very interesting.

But it seemed there were no shinigami here.

Which also meant-

No Light Yagami.
