Emiya waved his hand and said calmly,
"You're mistaken, Mr. Mouri Kogoro. I'm not looking down on you. I'm just stating a fact."
Mouri Kogoro gritted his teeth, which only made the remark sting even more.
His daughter, Ran Mouri, however, remained surprisingly composed. Holding her father back, she asked,
"Then you really aren't the murderer?"
"I've already told you," Emiya replied.
"You said the victim committed suicide?"
"That's right."
"Then why would he kill himself?" Ran asked, clearly confused.
Even Mouri Kogoro calmed down, placing a hand on Ran's shoulder as he waited for Emiya's explanation.
Emiya spoke evenly.
"That depends on the victim's identity."
"The victim's identity? You knew him?"
"I didn't," Emiya said, then pointed toward the entrance.
"But Yoko Okino over there did."
Everyone instinctively turned to look at Yoko Okino.
Before she could speak, her manager hurriedly denied it.
"You're lying! My Yoko doesn't know someone like that!"
But Yoko Okino quietly nodded.
"Yes... I do."
Her manager stared at her in disbelief.
I'm trying to cover this up-why are you confessing so easily?!
"At this point, there's no point hiding it anymore," Yoko said sadly.
The room fell silent.
A small voice broke it.
"What was your relationship with the victim?"
Mouri Kogoro immediately punched the speaker on the head, raising a large bump.
"Adults are talking! Children shouldn't interrupt!!"
The child-Edogawa Conan-clutched his head and stepped aside.
Emiya raised an eyebrow.
With that attitude, no wonder Conan keeps tranquilizing you.
If it were me, I'd do the same.
Yoko Okino finally spoke again.
"He was my ex-boyfriend. A long time ago... he broke up with me."
That revelation surprised everyone.
Ran couldn't help but look at Emiya.
"You knew that too?"
"Yes," Emiya nodded. "The victim was indeed Yoko Okino's former boyfriend."
"It's well known that idols can't be in relationships-it affects their careers. When Yoko first debuted, her manager contacted her boyfriend. Threats, inducements... something made him leave."
Yoko lowered her head.
"Later, Yoko's career soared, but he didn't do well. He wanted to reconcile. Recently, he'd been secretly following her."
"Today, he sneaked into her apartment to confess."
Ran asked softly, "And then?"
"He met someone else."
"Who?"
Emiya rubbed his temple.
"I can't recall her name exactly. She was another idol competing with Yoko for a role. She lost, so she broke in, hoping to find dirt."
The manager suddenly reacted.
"It was her! Yuko Ikehara!"
Emiya nodded.
"That's the one. Yuko Ikehara mistook the ex-boyfriend for a burglar and fled. The ex-boyfriend, thinking Yoko hated him and rejected him completely, committed suicide in a fit of despair-using his death to frame Yoko and destroy her career."
"That is the truth."
After a long silence, Mouri Kogoro scoffed.
"All of that is just your story. There's no proof. You still need to cooperate with the investigation."
"Me?" Emiya shook his head.
"That won't be happening."
He had no identity in this world. Once investigated, everything would unravel.
"Hah! I knew it!" Mouri Kogoro laughed triumphantly.
"You're guilty after all!"
Emiya rolled his eyes.
"Enjoy your victory. I'm leaving."
"You can't!" Mouri rushed forward-
Bang!
A surge of psychic force slammed him into the wall, plastering him there.
"Dad!" Ran cried out.
"I'm fine, Ran!" Mouri coughed, still shouting,
"Don't let him get away!"
Emiya walked toward the door without a care. As he passed Yoko and her manager, he smiled faintly and exited.
"Wait!"
Ran sprinted after him and stopped him outside.
"Are you going to stop me too, Miss Ran Mouri?" Emiya asked.
"You're still a suspect. You can't leave."
"That won't happen."
"Why not? If what you said is true, Inspector Megure won't falsely accuse you."
"Because I'm here illegally," Emiya replied. "Once caught, things get complicated."
Ran froze.
"I... illegal?"
After a brief pause, Emiya smiled.
"How about a trade? I give you some information, and you let me go."
"I refuse," Ran said firmly.
Emiya continued anyway.
"Kudo Shinichi is the person you're looking for. He's right beside you-Edogawa Conan."
Ran's world shattered.
"He was poisoned while investigating a case. He didn't die, but his body shrank into that of a child."
"W-What?!"
"If you want proof, find a childhood photo of Shinichi. You'll see-he looks exactly like Conan."
Ran staggered.
Not content, Emiya added with a grin,
"By the way, Miss Ran... how does it feel bathing with your shrunken childhood friend?"
Ran's face turned scarlet.
"W-What are you saying?! I never-no, no, no!"
By the time she snapped back to reality, Emiya was already gone.
"...Conan!!"
Meanwhile, Emiya strolled through the bustling city streets, his thoughts racing.
He hadn't expected to stumble into a murder case right after arriving-but at least it confirmed what kind of world this was.
The truth was, the Detective Conan world didn't interest him for its mysteries or treasures.
It was the people.
For example-the Black Organization.
Especially one man.
"Ah... Sherry."
Not Gin-though Gin was impressive. Intelligent, ruthless, loyal, a master of assassination and deduction, and a rival worthy of Shuichi Akai.
Placed in another world, Gin would shine brilliantly.
But Emiya's choice wasn't Gin.
It was Sherry-Shiho Miyano.
The future Haibara Ai.
Anyone capable of creating a drug that shrank a human body was undeniably talented.
If Emiya could recruit her-and combine her intellect with knowledge from other worlds-
She might just bring him a very pleasant surprise.
