Conan was stunned. His deductions up to this point had been completely off.
"So, you're not a fan of Sharon Vineyard at all. You're looking for her because she's part of that Organization."
Emiya snapped his fingers. "Bingo. You guessed right. But 'Silver Bullet' has another meaning."
"What is it?" Conan asked.
"Shuichi Akai. He's the 'Silver Bullet' recognized by members of the Organization."
Conan was speechless.
Emiya waited patiently for about ten minutes. The phone rang again, and Yukiko Kudo answered.
"Sharon has agreed to give you her number. Write it down. Her number is..." Emiya nodded and jotted it down.
"Thank you very much for your help, Night Baroness."
"So, how do you plan to thank me?" Yukiko asked with a smile.
Emiya thought for a moment. "I'll grant you a wish. If you have any wish in the future, you can tell me anytime, and I'll grant it."
"What a romantic thing to say... but I'm no longer a young girl," Yukiko replied, teasingly, making Emiya's face darken.
"I think you misunderstood, Night Baroness. I'm serious," Emiya said defensively.
"You should save that for naive young girls," Yukiko laughed and hung up.
Emiya rubbed his temples, looking at Conan, who had a dark expression.
"Your mom seems to have misunderstood something."
"Just ignore her. That's how she is," Conan said, helpless.
Emiya continued, "Regardless, my promise stands. But it must be your mother's wish. Neither you nor your father can make the wish. I only owe your mom a favor."
"I'll remind her," Conan said, determined not to waste this favor.
Emiya picked up the phone and dialed Sharon Vineyard. A low, mature voice answered.
"Are you the person who called Yukiko?"
"That's right. It's me," Emiya said with a smile.
"Good evening... no, it should be good morning in America, Miss Vermouth."
A tense silence followed. Vermouth's voice returned.
"You do know who I am."
"I know a lot about you-like the Organization's boss is Renya Karasuma, your body doesn't age, and your disguise skills came from Kaitou Kid, or rather, Toichi Kuroba."
Vermouth's voice turned cold. "I hate men who know too much."
"Is it because secrets make a woman more beautiful?" Emiya asked with a laugh.
Vermouth stayed silent. Her secrets, laid bare, made her feel both shame and anger.
"Who exactly are you?" she asked.
"A person from another world."
"...Do you expect me to believe that nonsense?" Vermouth sneered.
Emiya shrugged. "I can't force you. But Miss Vermouth, I'm not here to expose your secrets. I want to recruit you."
"Recruit me?" Vermouth scoffed.
"Yes. Work for me and complete tasks I assign. After that, you can return to the Organization or continue as an actress-I don't care."
"That's... surprisingly relaxed terms," Vermouth said, incredulous.
"And pay?" she asked cautiously.
"You name your price. I can fulfill whatever you want," Emiya said calmly.
Vermouth was taken aback. "You're letting me name my price? Aren't you afraid I'll ask for too much?"
"I think you misunderstand. Compared to me, the Organization is just an ant. I can satisfy a lion easily," Emiya replied.
Vermouth laughed, still shocked. "You really don't think much of our Organization, do you?"
"The gap between us is too wide," Emiya said plainly.
"What if I want money?"
"How much?" Emiya asked.
"One billion U.S. dollars per mission. Two missions, two billion." Vermouth expected Emiya to balk.
"No problem," Emiya said without hesitation.
Vermouth was speechless. "Did you hear me? One billion per mission!"
"I heard. I said yes."
Suspicious of the quick acceptance, Vermouth asked, "Are you planning to default on the payment or force me to work for free?"
"You underestimate me. It's just money. Numbers don't matter to me," Emiya said.
"Then prove it to me," Vermouth demanded.
"I can," Emiya nodded. "I'm in Beika Town, Tokyo. Come to Professor Agasa's house, and I'll prove it."
Vermouth initially suspected a trap but dismissed it. Anyone who knew her identity and the Organization's boss could easily have authorities arrest her-or capture her personally.
Vermouth said lightly, "Transfer one billion to my account first, and I'll believe you."
"Okay, give me your account number." Vermouth did so.
Emiya turned to Professor Agasa. "You heard the conversation. I want to sell some gold and jewels. Any connections?"
"Go to a legitimate auction house," Agasa advised.
Emiya asked Conan. "Any connections for fast access?"
"I can introduce you to a rich young lady-Sonoko Suzuki."
"Sonoko? The gossip?" Emiya asked.
"Yes. Wealthy, though meddlesome," Conan replied.
"That works," Emiya said.
He used his superpowers to create unique, sparkling jewels. The next day, Conan brought Sonoko and Ran Mouri along.
"This is the second time I'm meeting you," Ran said, recalling their previous encounter at Yoko Okino's apartment.
Emiya greeted them from the sofa. "What, are you surprised?"
"No. Conan warned me I'd meet someone familiar," Ran replied calmly.
Sonoko leaned forward. "Conan told me you have treasures to sell to our Suzuki family?"
"Yes. Every piece is a masterpiece."
Sonoko, skeptical, said, "I'll believe it when I see it. I'm the second daughter of the Suzuki Financial Group. Ordinary stuff doesn't impress me."
Emiya placed a soccer ball-sized diamond on the table. "Here. The largest diamond in the world. You've never seen one this big, I'm sure."
Sonoko was stunned. A diamond this massive, already a fortune, with the Heart Sutra engraved naturally on its surface, was beyond belief.
Her jaw dropped as she realized its astronomical potential at auction.
