Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Radiance

I woke up early in the morning, as I looked outside the window I could see the Sun rising up. I had to get up and complete my day work, which was to take a bath then cook a stew for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After finishing my perfectly replicated stew I learned from Elise, I went outside to fetch some fresh air and purchase a book about magic from the central library our my town.

I lived afar from the town, farther from the edge. There was no road leading to the town. The only idea was I had to walk in the direction in which the Sun sets. I packed myself water and one gold coin and started my journey at the earliest.

About half an hour had passed and I could see the houses and buildings which were not very different from mine but had a completely different feel. Thanks to the Sun, I didn't lose my direction. I reached the center of the town in the next half of the hour.

The Library was a huge building with polished wooden furniture and a lot of glass decoration. There were dozens of divisions six guards of Soarer rank inside each division. I entered the history section first and picked up a book titled "Myth of Recursion", which was worth 3 silver coins and picked up "What Makes a Hero" worth 5 silver coins from the magic section. The owner of the library was a tall man in a volumetric jacket made from wool with no design. He wore golden glasses and an arrogant calm smile, as if he was claiming that he is better than me without saying a word.

There are very few people in this world who see through everything. It is our nature to act based on judgement and instinct. We use our memories and environment to create our own courtroom of mind. It restricts our justification to a set of rules formed within the limits of our nature. It is difficult to see everything from the perspective of a God. Those very few people imitate that nature by putting their reasoning and justification out of their minds and giving it it's own ability to think. That part of their perception isn't human. It has no memories, no relation to people, no selfishness and no desire, it exists only for reasoning. It sees the actions and reactions of everything beyond human sight. It is the shining star, the ace and the path to acknowledgement of the world.

I was left with two silver coins and I had to buy myself wood and meat. The meat cost me 12 copper coins and I bought a large piece of unrefined tree wood on a cart for 28 copper coins.

It was evening and the sun was about to set, I started carving the wood with an axe and a knife into different shapes. Night fell and the wood was still in two pieces, with an outline of a sword and a magic staff on each piece's flattened side. I got physically tired and decided to read the book I got from library. While deciding whether to start reading history or magic, I realized that History books are only useful when you know about the present so I decided to read the latter.

It started with the lines "It is difficult to be a consciousness and fail to understand the basics of the universe. Everything exists for you to perceive. It is your will which denies the reality and creates a different perspective for you."

[ Understanding and Achievement ]

"Energy exists in all kinds. It is not an independent variable. It is the fundamental property of a universe. It can manipulate mass, volume and time. A living consciousness is like a master to this energy. You can control it and command it as you wish. The power level of a person is just the energy density their consciousness can command. It is a trait which keeps on improving over time in some people, similar to the expansion of the universe."

I felt awakened by just reading the first few lines. I immediately put the book aside and sat in a meditating position. I felt impulses from my brain going downwards, I tried manipulating those impulses into different shapes, paths and speed. I sent down a few impulses into my palm and rotated it at a fast speed, the energy was dissipating quickly after reaching my palm, some of it escaping into my fingertips.

I kept trying and trying until I could actually store some energy in my arm and perform a body strengthening magic, also called "Kensho" . My next goal for tomorrow was to perform agility based magic. Travelling at high speeds also increases your perception at high speeds by slowing down your perception of time. Kensho is a necessary mastery for agility magic called "Zensho".

Kensho and Zensho varied per person. High level Zensho allowed people to almost teleport under small distances, meanwhile the force from two high ranking Kensho collisions resulted as invisible energy waves which made the ground crumble. I was wishing for Elise to appear again for more information on magic which couldn't be expressed from books.

The sun shines again with the morning.
