Chapter 35 - Chapter 11.3

: The Last Kiss

Min-jun and So-hyun stood in the center of the laboratory, surrounded by holograms and flickering screens, their breathing merging with the hum of equipment. They both knew the decisive battle lay ahead, that every step could be their last. Their hearts raced; tension in their muscles was palpable, as if the whole world had clamped them in a vise.

Min-jun lifted his hand and gently touched So-hyun's cheek. His fingers were warm, trembling, yet confident. So-hyun closed his eyes, feeling every touch, the warmth, the subtle tremor that ran through him. His breath grew uneven, not from fear, but from realizing this might be their last moment together before the unknown.

"I can't lose you," So-hyun whispered, voice shaking, yet laced with determination that cut through the silence.

"You won't," Min-jun replied, voice firm, taut, yet soft at the same time. "I'll come back. I promise."

They leaned toward each other, lips meeting. The kiss was long, slow, filled with desperation and hope at once. They seemed to transmit all the words they hadn't yet spoken, all fears, desires, and promises. Every breath, every slight tremor, every sound of their racing hearts became a shared rhythm.

Min-jun ran his fingers through So-hyun's hair, lightly touching the skin behind his ears, feeling him shiver. His palm slid down his back, gently gripping shoulders, keeping him close despite the looming danger. So-hyun in turn dug his fingers into Min-jun's shoulders, as if holding onto an anchor in the chaos, feeling the warmth of his chest, heartbeat merging with his own.

They pulled back slightly, only to gasp for air, and their eyes met — full of love, fear, and readiness for what lay ahead.

"If we don't make it…" So-hyun began softly, but Min-jun gently squeezed his hand, stopping the words.

"We will," Min-jun said, gaze firm, full of resolve. "Together."

Their lips met again. This time, the kiss was quicker, more insistent — a promise and a reminder that they were not alone. Min-jun's fingers glided over So-hyun's wrists, then down his arms, leaving a faint warmth through the fabric, symbolizing a bond nothing could break. So-hyun pressed closer, sensing the scent of skin, the faint aroma of sweat, and hot breath blending with the metallic smell of the lab.

Every motion carried meaning: a gentle touch of hair, a shiver of fingers, a look that spoke louder than words. They knew this could be the last time they were together. That's why they clung to each other tightly, almost holding their breath, afraid to lose the moment.

Finally, Min-jun pulled back just enough for their foreheads to touch. Their breathing steadied, but hearts still pounded, each beat echoing with anxiety and hope.

"The fight ahead…" Min-jun whispered, barely audible but full of strength. "But you — you are my anchor."

So-hyun nodded, holding Min-jun's hand in both of his. "I'm with you," he said, voice devoid of fear. Only confidence, love, and readiness to face whatever lay ahead.

At that moment, a muffled thud echoed through the lab, bouncing off the walls. Min-jun's chest tightened. They both rose, hands still entwined, and moved toward the exit. The explosive roar of zombies outside promised a new wave of chaos, forcing their eyes to meet one last time — full of determination and trust.

Hand in hand, they stepped into danger, their bond as a shield, courage as their weapon. Together, they were ready to face whatever the world had in store.
