Before the fight began, Luffy still have time to introduce Nami.
"She's Nami! She's gonna be our navigator!"
Jack tilted his head. Navigator, huh? He had seen her earlier, picking pockets and dodging marine in shells town with impressive skill. But now she was sitting cross-legged inside the cage, scowling at everyone like a cat that refused to be tamed.
"You just… decided that?" Jack asked.
"Yep!" Luffy said, grinning wide.
"Did she agree?" Jack pressed.
Luffy blinked. "Yes, she agreedl!"
Jack waited, half-expecting the familiar ding from his system to confirm a new Straw Hat crew member.
Nothing.
'So she's lying, Jack thought grimly. She's just playing along until she gets what she wants. Figures. Still… it's better to let this play out naturally. Nami the type who has to choose her own path,' thought Jack.
He sighed and shrugged. "Fine, Captain. Just… don't die before you convince her."
Then the fight began...
Buggy's crew roared and charged, brandishing swords, clubs, and pistols.
"Get them!" Buggy shouted, his nose twitching with rage. "They dare mock the Great Buggy the Clown?!"
Zoro stepped forward, drawing two of his swords with a sharp shing.
"Finally," he muttered, a grin spreading across his face. "A real fight."
Jack glanced down at his hands. He still didn't have much combat ability. He only had 2 abilities which is illusion and matter transmutation.
So the only thing he could do right now is play dirty.
Who told system to give him Sprite ability first.
These two ability are not really suitable for combat but it still can fool enemy.
The first pirate spotted him. "Hey, there's another one over..."
Jack waved his hand activated his ability then he used the illusion.
The pirate suddenly looked like Jack himself.
"The enemy is over here!" another crewman shouted.
Before the poor man could explain, half of Buggy crew turned on him, swinging clubs.
Jack smirked and ducked into an alley, making himself invisible with a flicker of illusion. Will it work if someone knows Haki?
Maybe, he remember luffy was being fooled by vegapunk illusion.
Meanwhile, Zoro met his opponents head-on, his blades flashing in the sunlight.
"Three-sword style…" Zoro clenched the third blade between his teeth and spun into motion. "Onigiri!"
Two pirates went down in a single strike, their weapons clattering across the ground.
"You guys aren't even worth breaking a sweat," Zoro growled, stepping over their unconscious bodies.
Another group charged him from behind, but Jack illusion made them see three Zoros at once.
"Which one is real?!" one pirate shouted in panic.
"Try and find out," Zoro said with a dangerous grin before cutting them all down in a single sweeping motion.
While Zoro and Jack handled the crew, Luffy was having the time of his life.
"You call that a punch?!" Luffy laughed, dodging Buggy floating knife with a rubbery backflip.
Buggy snarled, his detached hand flying toward Luffy's neck. "Chop-Chop Claw!"
Luffy ducked just in time and grabbed Buggy's foot, spinning him like a hammer throw.
"Gomu Gomu no… Rocket!"
Buggy flew head-first into a building, bricks crumbling around him.
"Curse you, Straw Hat!" Buggy roared, his body parts reassembling. "You'll pay for messing with my beautiful face!"
Luffy tilted his head. "You have a nose, not a face."
"MY NOSE IS BEAUTIFUL!" Buggy screamed.
Jack, now hidden behind a stack of crates, was watching carefully. Luffy hasn't figured out his weakness yet, he thought. Buggy's power only works if his parts aren't restrained…
Then it hit him.
"Luffy!" Jack shouted. "Tie up his parts!"
Luffy blinked. "Ohhh, good idea!"
Buggy froze. "Wait, what are you—NOOO!"
Luffy grabbed Buggy's floating hand and wrapped it in rope, then tied his foot to a barrel. Soon Buggy was a squirming mess, unable to pull himself together.
"This isn't fair!" Buggy cried. "Your strawhat remind me of someone."
"Owh this strawhat is from Shanks," commented Luffy.
"Shanks?" Buggy was surprised. "THAT MAN IS SOMEONE WHO DESTROYED MY DREAM!"
Buggy then told Luffy about their times as a crewmate, how with shanks interruption. His dream shattered.
"Shut up! You blame someone then you did to the village," roared Luffy angrily.
"Gomu Gomu no… Bazooka!"
The blow sent Buggy flying high into the sky, disappearing with a twinkle of light.
The fight ended quickly.
The town square was quiet at last. Buggy crew was either unconscious or running for their lives.
Zoro sheathed his swords and glanced at Jack. "You're sneakier than you look."
Jack grinned. "Hey, I take that as a compliment. I'd rather trick an enemy into hitting each other than get stabbed myself."
Luffy landed with a thud, brushing dust off his hat. "That was fun! Where's Nami?"
As if on cue, Nami unlocked her own cage and walked out, holding a small bag of treasure she had stolen during the fight.
"You three make quite a mess," she said, smirking. "But I suppose I owe you for getting rid of Buggy."
"So you'll join us?" Luffy asked eagerly.
Nami hesitated, her fingers tightening around the bag. "…No... I don't want but because you guys are helping me so I will help you navigate once.."
Jack said nothing, but his system still didn't send him a notification.
'She's still didn't accept the invitation,' he thought. 'Should I show my ability to her?'
PS: Some of you might think, why the fight is different than manga version.
I am sorry dude, but I am not following cannon series 100%, there will be divergence in my story.
