I am awake to a beautiful sunrise, shining through my window, albeit in a concrete bunker style building, including blast doors. My name is Michael#7762, I am currently one of the best bioengineered specimens that AI
could harvest from the available gene pool.
My day always starts with training, hitting the gym, running with my favorite mate Sandra, and sparing with other Bunker personnel. I rank as one of the top ten in skills
with weapons. So many seek me out for weapons practice.
Today I must venture
out and supervise the existing operations to recolonize the planet.
Unfortunately, all our attempts have been unsuccessful to date, and the current
colonies are struggling.
I am one of twenty,
supervising the three colonies. We have three DNA seeded colonies; we call
Edens.
The other wild colonies we call Vestige Groups, remnants of the unmodified population.
These are all within a five-hundred-mile radius of our facility, affectionately called Heaven.
Our job requires reporting to GOD the age, progress, and abilities of the remaining earth population except for the Vestige Tribes which we only monitor for size and location.
There is a total of twelve such bunker facilities left in the world, but our only connection to them is through GOD, we have knowledge of their existence and names only.
We in Heaven could increase our numbers swiftly, but GOD insist that the number of educated humans with heightened abilities kept to the minimum required to support the new DNA colonies.
The colonies/tribes that are vestiges of the previous civilizations are devoid of advanced education, and GOD only allows the wild tribes to pass down information via whatever skills they develop, none of the knowledge from the years pre-holocaust is available to them.
GOD has determined that humankind is too self-destructive, and advanced knowledge would cause harm to their development.
These vestige tribes had become very brutal. This caused issues because the modified DNA colonies that are under GOD's guidance, are set back or destroyed every time they contact the Vestige Tribes.
So, Heaven's agents try to keep them separated.
All the Tribes had greater numbers and had adapted to a nomadic lifestyle. They have become consummate killers. With skills of forced learning by their ever-changing environments. Unfortunately, they also kill
each other when different Vestige Tribes meet.
This decimated their populations, perpetuating the downward
spiral of mankind's numbers.
