Chapter 10 - Chapter 9 The Struggle to Survive

I left Sandra to stand guard on the facility and I took four

of the remaining personnel and went out to the garden areas. To gather any

remaining vegetation that we could use for food.

Fortunately, there was quite a bit left for us to gather. We

put it all together. Enough food for a few months. I prayed that would be

enough to get us through the trials that we were faced with.

It was the evening of the second day. When I saw the first

of the Raiders. Approaching the facility, I wondered why God hadn't struck them

down. The facility had numerous Defensive capabilities. But he did not strike.

Increasingly people of the horde gathered around the

building. Thousands of people. And they started fires and set up camp. I

wondered if the other elders were not smarter than I with all of this Enemy

gathered around me. Sandra and I laid down that night. The swarms of people

around the facility. Making lots of noise and lots of fires burning. Constant

screams could be heard. And I knew they were cannibals. These were vicious

beasts not civilized people. Our elders had made a huge mistake, most of the people

from the Bunker had never lived outside. On the third day, we could look at the

monitors and see that the crowd had completely swarmed the facility.

Knowing that, they had probably found some way to make

ladders to get to the top. I wonder why the monitors didn't show any of them walking

around up there. I soon had my answer. One had peeped up over the edge of the

ramparts. The laser fired immediately and they disappeared. For weeks they

piled fires on the walls of the facility. Around the main door, and the other entrances.

But this did little more than leave marks of suet on the walls, and on the

doors. It was strange. The people even started camping right up next to the

walls of the facility, using it to shield the winds at night and the cold. This went on on for a couple of more weeks

our food supplies were running extremely low I contacted GOD and asked for

assistance but received no immediate response. It was fall, the leaves had

turned color and started to turn loose from the trees. Soon snow would be

falling.
