Chapter 12 - Chapter 11 Sorting

The night went well, but Michael was terribly busy, over five

hundred women and children were in the Great Hall, Heaven's staff was exceedingly

small, but Michael directed them to

see to the needs of the crowd inside, boxes of new

supplies brought forth, and the wafers passed out, one to a person. Not satisfying

meal, but the nutrient rich wafers would hold them for tonight, fortunately the

women let in the facility had brought with them all the food in their

possession. Micheal consulted Sandra and together they produced a plan. First,

they would need to process and sort out staff they would need for the bunker

personnel, secondly, they would have to clean up the dead bodies and deal with

the remaining men outside.

Even though Sandra had segregated the women, Micheal

sitting at his console, he and GOD focused their instruments on each woman as

entered single file through a machine that looked a metal detector. As the

first one came through Michael asked her to place her thumb in a slot in the

machine, a small pinprick and a blood sample taken. After she removed her

thumb, the sample analyzed, and the machine self-cleaned within seconds, ready for

the next person.

Michael knew many of the women's faces but he had not

been a very social person, so he only remembered the names of the ones he

worked with. They asked how they felt about GOD, and would they follow

Michael's orders, and had they had any part in planning the exodus. Most of the

women passed with excellence, but twenty were sorted out by GOD and segregated

for further interrogation, one of these ladies was Lizzy a familiar face and a

friend of Sandra's. To keep the process moving, he ran the rest through as fast

as possible and got Sandra much-needed Support People. After they completed the

interviews of 156 women, Sandra took charge of 136 women who passed. The

remaining 20 were now Micheal's focus, Lizzy I know you, why did you lie, what

are you not telling us? We were associated with the rebellion because our men

did not want to share us with others due to Bunker mating requirements. We did

not plan the escape, we simply supported their decisions, Lizzy said. Michael

consulted GOD and agreed on a solution. All of you Ex Bunker personnel, who

want to be permanent mates, may exit the building to join your spouses, you may

form a colony of former bunker personnel only. You must leave the area and

travel to a designated area a hundred miles west and start a new colony, you

may also take children if they volunteer to join you.

Michael then left and went to the rooftop of the Bunker;

with the enhanced vision he watched the men who worked cleaning up the dead and

recorded all who participated. GOD had left their fate it in his hands. The men who lead the desertion, had been

killed or elected to stay with the horde. There were only about 200 left around

the facility and only about half of those were contributing. After setting up a

table outside, Jeff helped him pass out wafers and water, as the men lined up,

he used his heads up display to correlate the workers to his file, each of them

received a stamp on the back of his hand.

Ten percent of them were ex-bunker personnel but the

others were men from vestige groups. After this lengthy ordeal was completed,

the previous bunker people were brought inside, comingling with the others in

the hall, then Micheal made and announcement, all previous Bunker personnel who

wish to live with wives and children in the location GOD had selected, to

gather in the right hand corner of the Great hall by the exterior wall

tomorrow morning. I will give you 24 hours to make your decisions. GOD monitors

this new home site, anyone attempting to leave this area you will be struck

down. Remember former members of Heaven are not allowed to comingle with the seeded

DNA colonies. I will appoint two leaders and give them Communicators. If raiders

threaten you, contact me for assistance. But remember there will be no turning

back.

The next morning forty people had gathered for the exit

to the new location, two gentlemen named Matthew and Jhon appointed as leaders

and given full gear to face the trails ahead. Before they left, we had all the

remaining men outside gather in front of the main entrance. The new Colony had forty

people, plus five children. You should leave out the back entrance; I want your

exit done quietly and we shall limit the number of people that know where you

are going. You should head south for about five miles, you will run into a old

road system. Follow the road west until you come to a River, that is where your

New Home is, there will be plenty of water and resources, I will drop by to

check on your progress in a few months. Micheal had a team monitor their exit

from the top of the facility, until they were completely out of sight.

Micheal then turned to address, the remaining men

outside, if you intend to stay here you will have work and prove your worth, I

have already witnessed many that have disobeyed my instructions, it's very late

in the year for planting, but you need to help gather food and build shelters.

I would recommend on the south side of the facility against the wall. Once you

have shelters built, I will release the women and children if they want to join

you. With the forty leaving only twenty-two men and three hundred women are left

in Heaven. So, the sorting continued for months as the snow started falling, the

vestige women started joining men outside and taking children with them. The

women remaining from the vestige horde, in Heaven, trained and became part of

Heaven's staff.
