Chapter 9 - Chapter 8 Going Back to Heaven

Michael boarded his aircraft and flew to the next Eden

village where with great expediency he completed his audit of the people there

and their condition, it took a whole day, then hurried back to his aircraft and

flew to the third Eden village.

Waking up early, he did the same, finishing in two days, the

basics, he did not have time to study abilities, but they were all in

relatively good condition.

With no signs of the migrating horde anywhere near their

position of course he already knew that they were getting close to heaven, and

they would need to be stopped.

He knew that GOD would take care of most of the dissidents

but usually in these circumstances, he might need to save someone, or he might

need someone who is hiding taken out. GOD was perfectly capable of wiping out

everyone, but he was not particularly good at saving people.

 Michael returned to

his aircraft only to find that it had not sufficiently charged for the trip

back to heaven. It looked like he had a few hours to burn so he started to

reconnoiter the area. Climbing to a high Cliff not far from his position he

searched the horizon in the direction of Heaven far away from the edge of the

skyline he could see smoke. His stomach turned in knots at the thought of them

reaching Heaven before he did. He could imagine not being by Sandra's side when

heaven got attacked but he knew GOD would have other assignments for him.

The burn he felt in his heart for Sandra was driving him mad.

Michael made his way back to the aircraft the charge was now

sufficient to make the journey he climbed aboard and with voice command

instructs the craft to return to Heaven with a short flyover on the way to

assess how many people there actually were in this dangerous group.

He began his flight back towards heaven guiding his craft to

the smoke on the horizon, as he approached the group, he realized that Grunt

was correct they looked like thousands of people in this group that were

traveling in this hoard, several of men standing a head taller than the people

around them, I'm sure that they were the offspring of the rogue banished

dissidents.

 Michael turned his

craft toward home knowing he was less than fifty miles away but at least that

would give them a few days to prepare for their oncoming battle. As he reached

the outer edge of the group several flying objects came toward him, arrows he

thought but he was very much out of range. Still, it was quite alarming knowing

that they had advanced

weapons. A few minutes later, Michael lands on top of the

large bunker facility. Secures his craft. And enters the facility. His first

instinct is to find Sandra. but he knows that he needs to contact his fellow

Personnel and let them know of the pending invasion.

 It is strangely quiet

in the building. He finally sees another person and asks where everyone was at.

 Jeff his fellow warrior

friend, told him that the bulk of the people from the bunker had deserted

hearing of an impending invasion, some of the elder members of Heaven convinced

them to flee.

They said they knew of a hidden place with plenty of

resources. They decided to go to this place and hide from the advancing horde.

Michael asked Jeff to get back with him, but he needed to

contact Sandra and see what she was doing. He found Sandra in her room. She ran

to him, embracing him firmly. She said things had gotten a little crazy while

he was gone.

 Some of the older

members of the facility had convinced the population to relocate to avoid being

slain by the invading horde. Michael said that is crazy. This place is secure.

Why would they leave? Sandra said well there's only a handful of people left,

ten adults and a half a dozen children.

Michael found a computer console. And requested GOD's

attention. Do you know what's going on here he asked AI. The population has

deserted this facility. GOD said yes, as I told you before. There's a lot of

dissidents in heaven and they must be Eliminated. I have decided to use this

opportunity to purge heaven of the rebels who wish to overthrow my authority

and educate others of the dangers and difficulties that exist outside the facility.

The leaders of this exodus are leading the people to the advancing horde, with

whom they have been communicating for months, seeking to throw off the

restrictions I impose in Heaven.

Your assignment will be to secure heaven. You will help me screen the people who return

for acceptance into Heaven, you shall become my Judge. I have changed the

passcode for Heaven's Gate. And no one that has deserted,, during this

rebellion will be able to return without being screened by you. I will supply

you with a list of names that I judge acceptable, the rest will have to go

through testing, evaluation, and retraining. Go and rest now, tomorrow the

preparations begin for defending Heaven.

 I found Sandra again.

And we start exploring the facility. Looking for ways that the enemy may make

entrance. My head is still spinning from the conversation with God.

I cannot understand how people can become so easily

lead astray by other elders. Knowing that they could be leading them to their

death.

 With the remaining

bunker personnel, we start moving the half a dozen aircraft on top of the

building back inside the facility. And locking down the top. I cannot imagine

how the enemy will penetrate this bunker with the weapons that I know are in

their possession. It feels so stupid. The one thing they wanted, security, was

in this building. I guess I may have been oblivious to the fact that the people

were suffering in the facility. Politics has never been my strong point. We

never had any elected officials. We always relied on God to Deliver us the

rules. Then manage our existence.

The bunker itself is a massive structure. Almost 100 yards

wide and 300 yards long and extends underground for an unknown amount.

There are restricted floors in the quarters below. They must be accessed only with GOD's/ AI's

permission.

I have no idea where they lead and no, no one else does as

well. Unfortunately, when the people left, they took most of the food, so

there were very few supplies left for us.
